This place used to be amazing when it was Texas Taco. I got a salad with fish and pintos and corn. The fish was way overcooked on one side (almost burned). The pintos had way too much bite to them like they were undercooked. And I had asked for guacamole on the side. The little container was nearly brown and smelled old. I was the only one ordering lunch and it took about 8 minutes from start to finish. Atmosphere: 2/5 - The establishment needs improvement. The huge chalkboard that you order from is unorganized. It's hard to figure out what you can get and the prices. There is a to-go flyer at the register that's more organized. The soda machine was partially broken. Seems rundown. No theme or elements of interest. Some seating for 2. Lighting is basic. Cleanliness: 2/5 - When you walk in, it smells a bit musty. The eating area failed some rudimentary dust checks. The back of the house seemed clean but not spotless. The cook was wearing a hat, but no gloves. Parking: 3/5 - Shared lot outside. Not very big and can get filled up quickly. Restrooms: N/A - didn't visit. Value: 3/5- 3 tacos we ordered came to about $15.48. Kinda steep. But the flavor was above average. The portion size filled me up. I had the taco trio with the Hicksville taco which was steak, shrimp scallions, chipotle aioli and bbq OMG run and try it!! We love the fire island tacos, the steak fajitas, the tortilla soup is delicious, taco salads are loaded with toppings and are so good ( I like to add shrimp) ! My dad loves the wings. She kept looking at me as if owed her something. The food was not that good as before. I gave another shot and ordered online. The order was not delivered and they refused to refund me my money. So During Soccer season, once a month I wind up in the Dix hill Area (sout of the LIE) at dinner time. For years I experimented with different eating schedules so that I could eat before this meeting, but not too early as to render me hungry before dinner, nor too late so have a bolus of food sitting in my stomach at 10:00 bedtime. I long ago decided that eating about 6:15 was optimal to make my 7:30 meeting and then get home by 10:00 PM. Having figured out the when, and being fully accustomed to the how, the last remaining question was where. I enjoyed thoroughly the pork burrito with chi[s and salsa. it's a quaint little storefront with about eight small tables and based on my 40 minute dine-in visit does a heck of a take out business. One of the unique things they do is press the burrito after it's all wrapped. This gives a nice toasty dinner in your hand. Also their hot sauce has a very decent bite to it. No enough to make me sweat, but certainly enough to remind you it's not to trifled with. The have three different Cholula sauces on the table, but I found the house stuff just right. So for me, combing goof food, good speed of service and excellent proximity to my monthly meeting makes this a winner. They do have numerous ways to order from them. Phone , online , apps. Which is helpful. Delivery is usually quick. Out of the 6? Times we have ordered from them only recently we had a small issue. I ordered online and there was a price mistake and they drove all the way back to make it right. You normally do not have businesses do this anymore.
