NOT COOL GUYS!! Came over for lunch with the wife today, sat around 4pm. As we're sitting there we see a 4dr red Jeep Wrangler fly up towards the building and without a single hesitation parks in the one and only handicap spot by the building. To my surprise the rear window had a "Swell Taco" sticker on it so we thought oh maybe she is just coming in for her check or something and will be out quickly. Well 45 minutes later her red jeep was still parked in the handicap spot and she now appeared to be working on the clock. As I was processing this ANOTHER employee came flying up in a white Yukon and just helped herself to a made up parking spot. Listen guys I get it, parking is tough back there, but seriously?!? let me give you guys some free advise... First of all if you're not handicapped DON'T PARK IN A HANDICAP SPACE!! My favorite Mexican restaurant! The atmosphere and the food make it worth waiting an hour and a half at times. I mainly come on Mondays and Thursdays for their crispy chicken tacos which I think are the best on the menu but they are only a special on those days. I've been satisfied with every meal I've ever had and the service is always excellent. Besides the fact that it is almost always busy they make it a pleasant experience! From the guac to the crunch and munch taco to the chicken quesadilla this place is a keeper. I will definitely be a customer for life. read more

My favorite restaurant in the world. I heard about this restaurant via word of mouth. If u blink u will miss it. It's in the back of the Babylon village parking lot. You MUST try the chicken quesadilla. It's really cheap like $5 and its huge. That alone can fill me up. I also love the carne asada taco. I mix sour cream with the hot sauce packets they give- soooo good. They just expanded the restaurant it looks cute. The staff is really friendly. I experienced the slowest service ever, i am a local to this place and have gone here many times, i placed a order around 5o'clock and was told about 45 minutes to a hour, for pickup time, as given i know this place is very busy, and was told i would receive a text message when the food was done, i went to the restaurant 1.5hours after the order was placed, and it still wasnt ready, i sit in my car and wait for a text message at 8:30 i still have no text message so i decided to go in finally for my food to be ready and cold just to be told "Im sorry i forgot to text you" im not sure if this is how you run a business but from now on i will not be eating here as i was very disappointed. read more

When you come here the wait is so long...I had visited this place three times between 5 and 8 pm and left because the wait was going to be over an hour. But it goes to show how popular they are. The tacos are great and the Bomba taco salad is good. The one time I ordered a burrito with some friends we all couldn't eat it. The taste was horrible and wasn't like a burrito flavor at all. Don't come here when you're starved or have high expectations. We went on a Saturday at around 5:30 PM and was told by the hostess that it would be a 35-minute wait which was expected for such a popular place and therefore agreed to wait. In 35 minutes, we saw chaos. We watched people take their beers and appetizers out in the parking lot to eat while waiting to be seated. We saw the entrance and core standing area of the restaurant so packed that people overfilled into standing next to actual dining tables and it made everyone so uncomfortably close. There was very little traffic control by staff so much that waitresses had to walk the long way around crowds of people taking frequent trips because standing people were not moving for them. At about 40 minutes in, my date and I were already looking at other restaurant menus near us on our phones because we were starved. By then I had approached the hostess for an ETA and I witnessed her putting me on hold while she was finishing her text message on her phone. She tells us they're clearing our table at that moment and that we'd be up next and it felt like the best relief in the whole world. Then I watched her seat 2 families and 1 couple soonafter. By then, I wanted to ask for her name to complain but honestly, what good would it do? And when I reached my threshold AN HOUR into waiting, she then tells us our table was ready and I SWEAR if my date didn't convince me to be positive, I would've gone to Del Fuego instead. When we were seated near the bar, I will admit I was willing to ignore all the standing people drinking alongside our table for the food because that's how starved we were. It also helped that the waitress was really prompt, thorough and checked in on us quite often which was great considering what she had to contend with in the very poorly situated and packed restaurant. The drinks were good, and the chips were fine. Honestly? The food was alright. After all of that, the food was OKAY. My T-Street burrito had lots of great chunks of steak but it was doused in cheese and I couldn't even tell you what other ingredients were in there other than the meat and cheese. My date liked the fish taco the best out of the three he ordered but he wanted to leave sooner than expected because the crowd was getting louder and louder. Did it justify the wait, the atmosphere or the expectations? No. I guess I'd go there on the slowest day of the week at the earliest convenience but then why the hell would I do that? I've been coming to swell taco for years. Their food is delicious and service is usually pretty good. We stopped by today and asked for a table for 5 and were told it was a 35 minute wait. Okay, we'll wait, the food is worth it. A few minutes passed and another group of 5 came in. They are told that it is a 40 minute wait, or they could sit outside. They quickly take up the offer to sit outside (because who wants to wait 40 minutes?) and they are immediately seated. Why were we not offered the table outside? Why should we sit and wait for 35 minutes when we were here first, and have the same sized group? Completely ridiculous and unfair, therefore I am giving them 3 stars. read more

My husband and I wanted lunch and wanted to try a new place. He went here to pick up food. He said that the place was packed and he had to wait awhile for food. The item I wanted initially was sold out and so I had to get something else. I had the chicken burrito. The food was sooo bland and had no flavor at all. I had to drench my burrito in hot sauce. I only ate 1/2 of it. After eating it I got nauseous and queasy. I'm thinking the chicken wasn't fully cooked. Needless to say pepto came to the rescue. Bottom-line is the food here is crap and bland and would have never gone back. There are much better mexican places out there. I love Swell Taco!! It's this hidden gem in the parking lot behind Sherry's on Deer Park Avenue. What makes their food so delicious is their green sauce! It is so delicious oh my sweet Jesus. Also, the food itself is awesome. My favorite would probably have to be the steak quesadilla, but everything I get has always been excellent. I prefer the appetizers to the tacos. Secondly, the staff is great. Its always busy when I go, but they don't let that affect their demeanor. They are always super personable and friendly. Third of all, the prices are great. It's as cheap as you're going to find a sit down restaurant. I usually get an appetizer and 2 tacos, and it comes out to about $9. Nice portions too. Not too big or small. Lastly, the vibe is cool. It has this surfer-skateboard thing going on. The only downsides are that A) it's pretty small, so it's a bit cramped and B) the wait is long sometimes. read more

I went to this place after hearing about it from my mom and was really pleasantly surprised! The PORK NACHOS are AMAZING! Literally had so much flavor and tasted like my Puerto Rican grandma made it in her own kitchen. Its a very cool surfer atmosphere but its pretty small and usually very crowded and noisy. There's always a wait, so be prepared for that, although they do offer take out, but for the prices and the food, its totally worth it! read more

Called to place a take out order for my family after a long day at work as a frontline healthcare provider. Website said open til 9pm. Phone message said open but please be patient as increased volume with take out due to covid...understood. Decided to start driving while I held the line. On hold 20 min and by then I arrived. Went inside. Plenty of customers coming and going. Walked up to the desk and was told " we are closing at 6" and "kitchen is closed". It was 5:45 and the phone message also said open til 9. It snowed day before but roads clear and everyone else in the area open. Of course you may close early if you are afraid of the already plowed snow and already clear roads but then make a new message OR ANSWER YOUR PHONE so patrons do not waste their time traveling there. Very rude and immature staff as well ( including the manager). I have been here about a half dozen times and this place is going downhill fast. Save your money. Go to Pinatas or ZimZari where the food and customer service are MUCH better. read more

This place has the best fish tacos ever! I highly recommend the Mahi Mahi and the shrimp tacos! We ordered our food to go because it was very crowded even on a Monday afternoon. We both had 3 tacos each with a soda and the bill was $26. A bit pricey but definitely worth it. I would love to eat at the restaurant one day but it's very small and seems to always be crowded! This is a totally awesome place! It's rare to find a place where the food is scrumptious, the wait staff kind, the music fun AND they were completely easy going with our kids! The Loaded Nachos work perfectly to munch on while we wait for the rest to come out. I usually go with the Shredded Chicken Taco or the 3 Amigos Tacos, that lets me try a bit of everything. The food is very good, especially the green verde sauce that comes with the complimentary chips, and menu is at a great price. The only thing that was disappointing was the drink selection; the wine was a headache in a bottle, and the margarita was very very weak, even after adding a shot of Patron into it.
