The facility is fantastic, the staff is amazing, and it is a wonderful community to develop your skills alongside a lot of really nice people. Unfortunately, during a recent visit, I experienced a shocking incident that nearly required involving the Fort Myers Police due to a couple threatening me with violence and extreme verbal abuse. Unbeknownst to me, two regulars named Ruben and Eve had apparently been harboring a deep grudge. Their issue? They are upset because I don't play matches with them, or because I play on the higher courts. To be clear: we all like playing with people close to our own skill level for a good, competitive game. For this couple, if you are stuck at a 3.0 level, understand that nobody is under an obligation to play down with you--especially when you carry this much baggage. On this specific day, while we were simply looking for a fourth player, Eve suddenly stood up from her bench out of nowhere and began screaming at me. She intentionally looked around to ensure she had an audience before getting even louder, throwing an absolute temper tantrum. I was completely dumbfounded. I politely asked her what the issue was, as I hadn't spoken to her in a long time. She immediately began shrieking, "Don't talk to me! Don't talk to me!" It was completely irrational. She then made it clear she was angry that I don't play with her. Eve, holding everyone hostage to your emotional outbursts is a terrible look. There is standard court etiquette and adult behavior, and screaming like a child because better players pass you up is not it. Immediately after, her husband Ruben joined in on the screaming. Ruben then aggressively charged at me, explicitly threatening me by stating he wanted to "kick my ass." I remained entirely calm. What Ruben didn't realize while he was trying to act tough is that I am a black belt martial artist. I was fully prepared to defend myself and teach him a severe life lesson, but I chose the higher road and prepared to call the police instead. Fortunately for Ruben, several bystanders stepped in and held him back before he could make a massive mistake. The couple was then forced to do a literal walk of shame right out of the building. Even as they were being escorted out, I calmly wished them a "nice afternoon." Ruben responded by turning around, flashing his middle finger, and shouting more profanity. It's just pickleball, folks. We all win and we all lose. Leave your personal grudges and emotional baggage at home. The reason so many people avoid playing with this couple isn't just because they are at a lower skill level than the rest of us were a year ago--it is because of their constant belligerence, out-of-control emotions, and toxic outbursts. Outside of this isolated drama, ACE remains an incredible spot. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great place to play--just watch out for the playground behavior from a select few.

It is brutal to play during hot, humid and rainy days on the outdoor courts. They have 3 levels of play, beginner, intermediate and advanced. There is a beginner support offers clinics and coaching to improve your game! The membership fees are reasonable. It ranges from $59 to $99 monthly depending on the frequency of weekly play. The facility is clean and well -equipped. You can sign up for a free Introduction to Pickle Ball or a Starter series for $49 for 8 classes. Membership is not required for the Introduction and Starter series. There are more advanced Essential classes as well as private coaching available. The staff is friendly and very supportive.
