Lady named Cathie came by and quoted in the thousands for our almost new dining and china set, hall tree, cabinet, desk, arm chairs, sofa, recliners, and a china hutch. She said $2,000-$3,000 would be the minimum we would get. She said the items will be auctioned for sale in the following week. We did not hear from her for months and when we asked for a check she said she mailed the check. We never received the check and called her and she said she'll have to cancel the check because she thinks the check was lost in the mail. Another month went by and we called and left several messages because she did not pick up her phone. We finally got a check for $660 for everything. The statement she sent with the check says she sold the dining set for $150, arm chairs for $10 each, and the hall tree for $300. Cabinet and the hall tree were antique pieces. She said she had to make repairs and had to spend expenses moving the items around. The statement did not say how much these items were exactly sold for and what her expenses were. She charged 35% for her commission when we signed for 25%. They are just flat out crooks cheating off of consumers. When we finally called them and told them we're filing a consumer fraud case Cathie then called us right back and just came up with bunch of excuses. They do not have an address. DO NOT use them period. You will be very sorry you used them.

Some expensive items were hidden under the sales desk which you told me "my friend" took, when I didn't have anyone there. Now the items are gone, not on your Consignment Control payout of which I received $298! Not worth the aggravation for the past week of working with you. I am writing this as a personal note as you won't answer my phone call and I hope you read this. I also hope anyone who reads this will take it as a warning NOT to do business with TJ, Cathie or Southern California Estate Sales. Shame on you TJ and Cathie for ripping people off when they are grieving the loss of their loved one and emotionally selling their belongings trying to raise money for the family. Both appraisals I received (as-is and hypothetical pre-damage) contained major factual errors, missing features, inconsistent comps, and a hypothetical report that still included real-world damage. Every significant mistake pushed the value downward rather than reflecting the correct zoning (RM-2-5 + Transit Priority Area + Complete Communities Tier 3 FAR). The reports valued my property at $1.53M-$1.58M, even though the correct redevelopment zoning supports a realistic land value in the $6.4M-$7.4M range. In a city where a home is often the largest investment a person will ever make, accuracy matters. Review reports carefully.
