We go to several of the classes 2 days a week and while it isn't the least expensive activity set when you have 3 kids, it is something They love so much that we choose to say no to other things so we can say yes to these classes. We've been taking our daughter to SwimKids USA since June 2006 for both swimming and gymnastics. I can't praise this company or its employees enough. Everyone has always been wonderful there. For swimming, the first priority is water safety and survival. This last three levels before they begin to learn various strokes, how to swim correctly, and then onto the competitive levels. My daughter has regularly swam with several women there and we've never had a bad instructor. Maribel is a great instructor, and she currently really likes Elena. Amanda is good and so are others. (Depends on your kids personality). I've seen my daughter learn by leaps and bounds and she loves the water and swimming because of this company. In Gymnastics, Allison runs the show. She's the head of gymnastics, and she's the perfect instructor for the children in there. The gym classes don't get too large and there's almost always two instructors. They learn the basic gymnastics that will later develop into the more traditional gymnastics that you see on tv. All classes are 30 minutes and you get a discount for the second class. They also have dance but we've not done that yet. There's a smaller play pool where you can take your kid when you're not in lessons and the hours for the place are great, but I just wish they were open on Sundays. The business is family owner and always have been. Lana Whitehead is the owner and still teaches in the pool after all these years. They have events at SwimKidsUSA like Blake's Miracle and also special Olympics viewings with past Olympiads. Take your kids to SwimKidsUSA, and it's like family. This place is wonderful! We enrolled our 2 year old in swim safety and gymnastics. He goes 4 times a week and gets lots of personal attention. This is great for him since his is very active and needs to burn energy through activities. The teachers are great and helped him through his initial fear of water. The gymnastics team is also wonderful and my son can call them all by name. We pay $200 a month for this and it's well worth it. The first thing is they learn is That if they fall into the pool to either float up under their back or jump off the bottom and find a wall to clean out. So this business may be called "SWIMkids," but they offer all kinds of activities in addition to swimming! Thanks to my nanny extraordinaire, Caitlin M, I was introduced to this business and my kids are now taking weekly gymnastics classes with Matt and likely will start swimming soon too... The people I've interacted with have been friendly and knowledgeable both on the phone and in person. I really like the fact that with both swimming and gymnastics, they are all about keeping the ratio of about 1 instructor per 4 kids max. Matt is fabulous with the kids and the facility is great as well... I love the safe indoor play area for parents / kids that may have a wait in between classes. I've seen my kids confidence grow with just their first few weeks of lessons! Pricing is affordable and there are plenty of options for class days and times. Normally I'm not one to leave reviews but I just want other mamas and dads to know that you should NOT bring your baby here!! My daughter's instructor turned her back on my 11 month old while she sat in the pool on the steps!! Of course my daughter fell in and was completely traumatized!! And instead of the instructor trying to make my daughter feel better or assure me that it was fine she told me she couldn't handle both babies and she didn't know where her manager was. Also when the instructor was talking to me about my daughter falling in the other baby fell in ‍‍ was screaming and even threw up on her the poor girl was so scared! I have been taking the kids here for 10 years. They have started as infants and my son has completed their program and rolled right onto swim team! He swam for DTAC for about 2 years. Unfortunately he decided to switch onto soccer but either way, glad he will always have swim as a skill set for life. They have an excellent program here and both have learned free style, backstroke, butterfly and breaststroke. Today our daughter had her last swimming lesson with Justin. While I am grateful for the past few years at SwimKids, and her ability to swim, today was pretty terrible. When we arrived, I told Justin, who has been her teacher for years, that it was her last day. She has been in the Silver I class with him since November, never leveling up despite all of her hard work (it's a Gold class, she's Silver). Multiple times there were 4 kids in the class, not allowing our daughter ample time with Justin. He also trained a lot of people over this year, so partly working with her, partly not. It's a lot for a 4 year old. Justin hardly interacted with our daughter during class today, mostly focusing on the person he was training. We like him, usually, and his no nonsense attitude when teaching the kids (my husband and I are both teachers ourselves), but the last few months he has been less encouraging and really less nice to the kids he teaches. My daughter left in tears today. She has worked so hard, come so far and all she will remember from today is him saying to her, "Can you count?!" while she did her breast stroke, instead of how proud he was of all her hard work. I think he could have been a little nicer, more compassionate and caring, and paid a little more attention after all these years, knowing she wasn't coming back. Our daughter used to love swimming here, used to love Justin, but over this year has come to dread going. He was too hard on her, didn't accommodate for the fact that she was in a Gold class as a Silver, was not encouraging and sometimes was even mean. He is the reason we are not attending all the way through Gold classes. I am disappointed for how things went today, disappointed for my daughter. We had a present for her, a little trophy and high hopes that she would make it through Silver 1 before leaving, and none of it happened. She didn't even want her picture taken. After the response here I emailed the address that was given without a name of a general manager. I received a response from an HR manager. I was told there aren't sound on the recordings so my review of that wouldn't be known except a manager on duty. I spoke to the manager when I was there, also the one talking to the instructor who was complaining about her day while two babies were crying in her arms. Also the manager who told me they don't go under water for the first 3 lessons. I was also told by the HR manager that I was wrong about child going under water at all-when I was a witness to all acts the children went through...front row...standing there.. I was Appalled by the initial trial class and how awful the instructors talked to the children and now after this interaction so concerned by how they handle things, their recordings etc that I wouldn't trust this establishment for swim. read more

Firstly I must say that I think the Mr Bryan and Ms. Kaylee are wonderful teachers and if your child has the opportunity to be in one of their classes then consider yourself lucky. HOWEVER... Overall I now have a bad taste in my mouth about the whole company due to one employee, Lance. The level of customer service I received today was absolutely horrendous. Being a former customer service manager and now finance manager I can't believe someone like him is employed working in customer service. I was having issues with dis-enrolling my son and wanted clarity and Lance not only spoke over me, was so rude, kept telling me that I was "changing my story" (which how could I change my story when he never gave me a chance to speak?) until I told him that he was being rude and asked to speak to another manager. He wouldn't transfer me which is also ridiculous. When I asked him to please provide me the same courtesy as I have with him in allowing him to speak he was so cocky, rude and frankly accusatory it was appalling. I have never in my life had someone who works in a service based business speak to me like he did on the phone today. If I was his manager he would be instantly fired or at the very least written up for his actions. Thankfully after I was finally able to speak and explain my understanding of this issue he reluctantly agreed to provide me with a refund for what I was owed. I NEVER write reviews. I RARELY EVER go online even for social media, but this level of poor service needed to be addressed. I seriously don't know what pissed him off today that made him be so rude and take it out on someone innocent, but this kid need to go to church and self reflect if a service job is actually right for him. read more

To be honest, I don't know exactly what to think about this place. Our old instructor Mr Brian was awesome. Then he left Saturday's (the only day we could go) and he was replaced by someone who didn't really know how to teach or talk to children for that matter. They also made my sons class the "misc" class. What was a class full of kids who were in the same level as him turned into a class mainly of kids who were afraid of water. So my son got no attention or guidance of things he used to be working on. He was back to learning how to blow "bubbles" He eventually just stopped caring and really stopped paying attention. The new teacher had no idea how to control him and just ignored him. We went here for 1 1/2 years and I just feel like management doesn't care about the paying customer. I had legitimate complaints and no one seemed to care. No one called and asked if we wanted a new class. Not to mention, I was only told that all classes in his level were full on Saturday's but I could call daily and see if that changed. If these courses cost a couple bucks a class, I wouldn't care either but I was paying about $20 for a 30 minute class. Towards the end when Mr. Brian was transitioning his replacement to take over, my son was not taught anything. I really felt like I was throwing away money and no one bothered to have an answer. Mr. Brian was really the only person who cared but just told me his hands were tied and there was nothing he could do except enroll my son in one of his classes during the week. The reason why this place get's two stars is Mr. Brian. He really is amazing with kids. If you do decide to go here, only go to Mr. Brian. He's wonderful at getting kids to listen and explaining what he's doing with the kids. I now take my son to Chandler Public Swim classes and he loves it. They are actually teaching him to swim and the cost for classes is 2/3 the price. For the last 1 1/2 years, my son has learned what to do if he falls into a pool. While I think it's a incredibly important lesson for a kid to learn, Swimkids focuses on it waaaaaay too long. If my son still went to swimkids, it would be another year before they actually taught him how to swim. Bottom line, if you have a two year old and you don't want him to be afraid of water, call and see if Mr Brian has availability. If not hang up and try later. Take classes until your kids is comfortable with water and can float on his back for 10 seconds. After that, quit. Trust me, that's all they're going to teach your kid until he's 5. read more

Love this place. They up hold the highest of standards on how a child should be taught how to swim. They do not cut corners and every single staff member, I have ever encountered, is extremely nice and professional. It does take a bit longer, than you would think, for a child to pass a level, but that is only because they want a child to get the fulllist of education, on how to swim properly. Also some deck managers that review the child are stricter than others. all you have to do is speak with the child's swim instructor and they will work with you on what needs to be done to pass the child. This is not a school for a child to do a sloppy job and expect to pass. They work very hard to make sure that the child swims properly. They do high standard instruction for a great price. read more

Before finding this swim school we tried swimming through the city and the YMCA. Nothing was consistent between teachers and I felt like my kids weren't learning anything. We have been going here for more than 5 years. Even though this school is further from our house than other swim schools, I wouldn't think of taking them anyplace else. We have been going to SwimKidsUSA with our son from age 17m to now (22m). Everyone there has been so helpful and generous. The owner, Lana, is very hands-on! Most importantly, Zach has so much fun in the pool and it will save his life in an accident situation. He has made excellent progress in the parent/tot class. It's so important to get babies, toddlers, and children comfortable in the water. They even have free fundraising community events every few months. My son is swimming after four 30 minute lessons. This place is legit! The instructors are patient and professional. We signed up for the survival classes and are super happy with the results. This place also offers dance and gymnastics classes. The best part is when your child reaches a new level/goal and they ask them to ring a bell and an instructor makes an announcement to the entire place! Then there is a ribbon "ceremony" where your child gets to have their picture taken while music from the Olympics plays and the front desk announces their achievement. Amazing!! My kids each present their own challenges. Our current teachers, Mr Brian and Mr Justin, are brilliant at dealing with them. We have been worth SwimKids for four years and have had mostly good teachers, some great teachers, and only a handful of disappointing experiences, which I think is an excellent track record. The business gives back to the community, and the family atmosphere is rare these days. Highly recommend. One issue I have is that parking is often an issue, especially after rain. ;-) read more

I have had my 17 month old in swim lessons for a few months now and I am constantly impressed with Emily. She does a great job remaining calm and working with each child (crying or not) making sure they have plenty of practice with each skill and it's clear her goal is to have them master each skill and also work on progression with the safety skills. I have seen my kiddo become much more comfortable with the environment and the skills and he loves his instructor. While there are still some tears during class, he walks around the whole pool area waving bye bye to her after class now. Kuddos to how the instructors can get a bunch of toddlers to sit on the steps quietly and still while it is not there turn. I am VERY Impressed with the water safety skills they are enforcing. The faculty is very friendly and the facility is very clean and welcoming. I have been to other swim schools and that is not the case everywhere. We love Swim Kids! My 3 year old son has had Mr Justin and he has progressed so much with him! Just this week when we took him swimming, my 3 year old decided he was going to start swimming underwater on his own. It's all from the confidence he learned with Mr Justin. My one year old also started lessons recently with Miss Marie and has gone from crying every time she goes underwater to willingly jumping into pools. Miss Marie is so sweet and helped my one year old feel safe in the water. Unfortunately we're moving out-of-state and we're so sad we can't take Swim Kids with us. read more

This place is gross. Feel free to read the long list of bad things about this place and where I'd recommend going instead. 1. Our first day my son had a trial lesson. He obviously cried like some kids do when they're scared. I left the room and waited outside. One of the dad's in our group YELLED at my son and the teacher. She could do little to stop him. The teacher apologized but I never heard from management except for them to push paper work in my face to sign up. Which I did because I first felt guilty that they might lose business because my kid was loud. They hid me in the back room so my face wouldn't upset the dad more. Looking back, my kid screaming was NOT my fault or my sons. Management should have walked the guy out. 2. I switched out of the class with that bad guy. I really would have liked Sundays but they are closed. 3. Teacher was always 5 minutes late and ended the class way too early. It's a half hour apt which left no time to split between 3 kids. 4. The pools are gross. They are literally green and a bit smelly. They shock the water but they don't empty the pools as often as they need. The other place I now go to empties their pool weekly and it smells like a pool, not a lake. 5. There is a lady at the front desk who is extremely abrasive and rude on the phone. I called in to switch my apt and she said none were available. I knew there were openings because I was there the day before. I called back an hour later and was able to choose between 4 different open times. She lied to get me off the phone. She was obviously busy. 6. Their policy allows ONE month for a makeup. The other place I go to allows a year. It is so much less stress to schedule make up lessons. 7. They dunk the kids without their permission which scared my kid to death. They dunk even if your kid is open mouthed screaming and crying. The other place I go to allows the kids to dunk themselves so they gain confidence. My kid was scared for weeks until we found a new place. He didn't cry once at the new place. 8. This is a survival school. It is not swimming lessons. They basically teach your kid to float. The few advanced classes I saw were so crowded that the kids got two feet before hitting into another class. The other place I go to has an Olympic sized pool and plenty of roped off space so that each lesson gets it's own space so kids can actually advance past floating. 9. They have a candy counter at the exit so it is a fight with my two year old every week. 10. I called in that we were going to miss our class. Apparently they didn't put it in the computer so I lost that class. Twice. Make sure to document when you called in and who you spoke with or risk losing 20 bucks. Don't go to swim kids USA. It is 72 bucks for four crappy lessons. Gold medal swim school is $78 for peace, perfect lessons every time and extremely clean pools that are emptied and filled with fresh water weekly. Their front staff desk is perfect! I regretted purchasing these lessons right away. After two months it only got worse. Avoid the stress! read more

I have just pulled both my children from Swim Kids USA and will never be returning! My daughter's teacher Shauna has been an issue for our family for the past 6 months. I tried to pull my daughter out of swim class because of problems with her teacher being unprofessional, but wound up taking them up on a 6 month free private lesson offer, which I now regret. Today when we showed up for class we were told that my daughter was no longer enrolled in her class and her spot had been given up to another child. When the front desk woman, Annette(who isn't to be trusted either, lies, and doesn't do her job well) did some fact finding, the teacher Shauna explained that she was the one who removed my daughter from the class without notification or reason. I was told that we could come on Fridays now instead. My daughter left hysterical because she wasn't able to swim today, not to mention the fact that I was one heated Mama!! To make a long story short, we will not be returning after a day of bs, phone fights, and a series of lies! More importantly we don't trust the teachers because I watched a student fall off the step and almost drown a few weeks back, under Shauna's watch!! The mother of the child noticed through a window, ran from the waiting area around the corner, into the pool, to save her daughter before any staff member knew the girl was drowning! The mother was in tears, completely understandable after her daughter almost died! I should have pulled my kids that day for sure... I can't stop thinking that could have been my kids!! I am done with Swim Kids USA and would never recommend it to anyone for countess reasons!! ****Please don't pay any attention to their retaliation to my review...It is full of so many more lies!! After a negative experience at another swim school I went with my gut and came here. I told them about my toddler's bad experience and how it changed her mild water anxiety into full-blown fear. Tim, the instructor, was SO gentle and patient with her, and didn't force her to do anything she wasn't ready for on her first day. He was encouraging and walked her through the steps of Survival Swim, and helped her participate with the other classmates at her pace. read more

This place is really cool...recently started taking my children here and my 5 year old son loves it. My daughter who is 2 screamed and cried to the high heavens and her teacher was very patient and didn't let it phase him at all. I wasn't sure about bringing her back but because the teacher is so great and assured us the crying is normal, i went ahead and signed her up also. I have been taking my daughter here for swim lessons since she was three months old and we love it. I originally got a recommendation from another parent and decided to give it a try since the first few months were free and I fell in love with the instructors and their philosophy. Emily was our first swim instructor, now she's our gym instructor and has been for over a year; she's lively, knowledgeable and makes class so fun for the littles, I even enjoy going into gym class with my daughter! Shaunna is our swim instructor and has been for over a year as well. Shaunna is so patient and gentle and ensures that her students are learning what they need to learn at their pace. My daughter initially had a lot of anxiety being in the pool without me and Shaunna offered us a private lesson once a week free of charge to get my daughter to be more comfortable in the pool without me and it has eased her so much. My daughter is 19 months old and I'm confident that if she were to accidentally fall in water, she'd know what to do. I am amazed at the bond my daughter has created with her instructors and other members of the staff, we both love swimkids and always look forward to our classes. We have been coming here for 3 years now and started when our first turned 1. He just turned 4 and is able to swim across the pool by himself! My youngest is 2 and just passed level 2 and is now able to float unassisted and can swim to the steps, the wall and pull himself out of the pool. The staff at SwimKids is amazing and we have loved every teacher we have had here. Everyone we have encountered is great with kids and honestly has every desire to see your child succeed. It is a little expensive but how can you put a price on your child's life? Living in AZ where almost everyone has a pool it is so important for your child to know at least basic survival skills God forbid something should ever happen. We love the gymnastics class but the make up policy is terrible. You can only have 30 days to make up missed classes but there is rarely room to make up a missed class and you can only book 24 hrs ahead. The lady at the front desk always seems to be in a bad mood. read more

I wanted to update on my review, Shauna has reached out to me asking if they could do anything to make this a 5 star to please let her know. I have now been here a little longer since my initial review. I want to let people know that this place is still great and I will continue to take my son here, I have bummed him from 1 day a week to 2 due to my son being a little more hesitant to be pushed out of his comfort zone and progress faster. I have him with Ashley on Fridays and Leah on Tuesdays and they are both great! He loves having them as instructors. The one thing I mentioned in my first review that I couldn't put my finger on I have figured out. It's the people that are members here some parents don't supervise there kids so there running around like maniacs and there are infants and toddlers that are around so the parents need to be in control of there kids, but we all know that's something outside of the staff's control, a solution may be more of the staff to confront the child and ask them to settle down and have some kind of disapline guideline to prevent the chaoticness. Really disappointed these last four weeks. All the instructors are great with my kids but I have really bad experience with the front desk personnel. Trying to change a schedule to fit into my busy work hours and waited for month. Finally there was an opening for my both son can swim at the same time on Tuesday at 4:00 pm. When I came in, they say that my oldest son start at 4:00 and my youngest can start at 5:00. I told them that my schedule has changed at 4:00 pm for both. I even show them my text message from SwimKids USA that the schedule has changed. But they did not fit them in even they know that they are wrong. Five minutes later, one of the staff came up to me and ask if I can paid the remaining balance for the month. I told her that I paid with the automatic payment with my card. She refused to understand the concept of automatic payments until I show the the monthly withdrawals from my credit card statement. Gave them my written notice that both of my sons will no longer taken their classes there after this month is over. Thinking about not taken them at all, even though I paid for them in advance. read more
