This pole studio changed my life. I've been going here for 3 years. Their classes are very INCLUSIVE and phobia free. The positive culture that is up-kept here is amazing. Not to mention they have the widest range of skill and classes taught. I feel like I'll never outgrow this studio. They took me from self taught to a competition winner in 3 months!! They have now brought me through 2 competitions (that I've won because of them). I can attest for their process being organized, friendly and fun. Prowess for life:)

Truly the most empowering and well-rounded pole studio I've ever had the pleasure of taking classes at! The instructors are professional and I always feel safe/comfortable in that space. Thank you for my home away from home!

Bachelorette weekend means pole dancing class! I had to book something fun for the bride to be! Plus the classes are quite affordable. Booking on their website was very easy and you pay ahead. Also sign their waiver online before hand. Intro to pole was for beginners and first timers. But it was tough! It's an hour long class but it went by so fast. We got towels and alcohol to clean all our poles before we start. They also supply knee pads for the floor work. We start with a warm up stretch. Then we get started. The moves were more difficult than we expected. We did each move a few times then did it to music. Then towards the end we separated into two groups and did the moves to music with the instructor. They ask you wear shorts and no leggings. You can bring heels, socks or go barefoot. There are cubes for your things and purses. Overall it was fun experience for us all. I just wish the moves were more simple for an intro to pole class. It went too quick for us to get all the moves. But the girls had fun and it was great to learn.

Didn't realize my last review was almost 2 years ago! Well here's an update... Prowess is still hands down the best of the best in aerial studios! I have been taking classes with Lindsay since 2013 and she has never changed in being so helpful, so patient, and she truly wants her students to succeed. Lindsay goes WAY above and beyond for everyone. I have loved every single class I have taken - at this point, I think I've tried almost all of the apparatuses! Each one is awesome and I've made a ton of friends from this studio. If you're a beginner, go try out some classes and talk to people! I promise you will end up with lifelong friends. The pole community is amazing, and it all started for me at Prowess! (And I also started with zero flexibility or strength, so don't let that stop you!) Thank you to Lindsay, as well as the other instructors Heather, Jenna, Tawnya, Alex, for creating such a positive and fun environment for us to HANG out in (get it!) :)

Before moving to Phoenix, I had taken pole fitness classes in Charleston, SC for almost 3 years. At that point, pole fitness had not only become a fun workout and part-time job (yay instructing!); it was my full-blown passion. The strength! The flexibility! The dancing! Learning to be confident and comfortable with my body! The amazing, supportive women I'd met! Spinning and hanging upside down by one leg! What wasn't to love about it?! Honestly, the only thing that could've made my experience any better was having an instructor of an even more advanced level to help me progress further, as I want to become the best pole athlete and artist I can possibly be. ENTER: Prowess Pole Fitness! You see, for 2 years my little sister asked me to move to Tempe to be near her while she finishes grad school at ASU and although I didn't think I could just leave my life in Charleston behind, I realized two things: 1. Phoenix would be an adventure / new life experience and I'd be close to my sister for the first time in 7-8 years. 2. I could train under Lindsay Green!!! HELL YES, pack the car! Within 3 days of my arrival, I was signed up for classes and attempting Phoenix (the pole trick, just to clarify. It was definitely out of the realm of possibility for me at the time, despite Lindsay's positive encouragement haha...) and hopping off spin poles because *holy moly* I'd only ever practiced on static and had no idea how not to get dizzy. Flash forward 9 months later and I'm holding Iron X's, spinning gracefully in Eagle, and back flipping off of poles from Brass Monkey!! (Don't understand what I'm saying? Come to class and learn our secret language!) And yes, I can Phooeenniixx! Basically, I'm learning the tricks of my dreams because Lindsay is such an awesome instructor and the queen of spotting. Seriously, even when trying a move that you are sure will lead to imminent death - she's got you! Plus, she will be your biggest cheerleader (as will all the other girls in class - because they're your new friends and family). Not only do I live for Level 3-4 and Choreography classes, but I also love Lyra, Flexibility, and Twerkshop. But wait! They offer more like Aerial Silks, Intro / Level 1-2, ChairOgraphy, Floorwork, etc. All of the instructors are really great and the studio is amaaazing (gah, those tall ceilings)! While I can't promise that pole fitness will be the greatest life decision you will ever make for yourself (it was for me! :D), I think you should definitely try it out and see. More than once. Because let's face it, after my very 1st pole class I thought "I'm awkward, bruised, and not strong enough for this" - but continuing to practice is HOW you get strong, confident, and whatever else you want out of your journey. And please do so at Prowess because safety, form, technique, and community are so important. As for the bruises (umm, "pole kisses") and callouses? I've learned to embrace them as badges of honor. I could honestly go on and on about how much I love Prowess and pole in general, but I'll stop. Check out their website (you must register for classes online, as there are limited spots) and even their Facebook page so you know when the next Cirque Saturday (a showcase of instructor and student performances) is! Are you signing up? Now? GO!

Most instructors here were friendly except for the owner. Often canceled classes with short or no notice and was rude about it.

When it comes to the Jewish students at ASU, Hillel is one of a very few places that they go to for support whether it be a talented group of staff, a building that feels like home, and plenty of intentional programming and activities that take place both within the building and across the four ASU campuses. As an ASU staff member and a Hillel board member, I have found myself staying in touch with Hillel staff members and student leaders on a regular basis and making it over to the Hillel Jewish Student Center whenever I get a chance. This year, being based at the West Valley Campus has made it more challenging to do so, but when I plan the drive out accordingly, I can make it to special events on the Tempe Campus or at the Hillel Jewish Student Center. After having worked at three universities each with a Hillel center, I have been impressed with the work put in by the staff, volunteers, and student leaders to create such a meaningful experience for the students and community members who find themselves at Hillel. Hillel offers programming to celebrate the many Jewish holidays throughout the year including weekly Shabbat services and even the High Holidays when classes are in session. Their website (https://www.hillelasu.org) highlights many of these events in a calendar. They also have communities within the community at Hillel including groups for students involved with Greek Life, engineering, business, journalism, the Downtown Campus, the Polytechnic campus, and those interested in social justice. There are also Birthright Israel trips sponsored by Hillel bringing students on 10-day trips to Israel. For many of the programs and events, even non-Jewish students are welcome to join. They also offer Kosher food onsite, scholarships, employment and internships, travel opportunities, and an opportunity for families to connect. In fact, there are events during Move-In, Family Weekend, Jewish holidays including the High Holidays, and other times throughout the year when families are welcome to join their students (though they technically are never turned away). There are also opportunities for the community and alumni to make donations to support such programming. From the annual fundraiser L'dor V'dor to the new capital campaign to get a new building built, there are many ways to contribute. I certainly recommend anyone knowing a current or future ASU student who has Jewish ties to continue reaching out to the ASU Hillel to connect with them.
