My partner owed the IRS a little over $5,000, and the payment was scheduled to be automatically withdrawn on April 15, 2025. To avoid any last-minute stress, we decided to pay the amount early and went into the office on March 28. The tax agent agreed to process the payment for us, and the money was taken out of her account that same day. Despite that, the IRS still pulled the original scheduled payment on April 15, which left out account overdrawn by about $3,000. I called the business right away to let them know what happened. All they told us was to call the IRS and that the money would eventually be returned. That was it--no apology, no offer to help, and no accountability for not canceling the scheduled withdrawal. We asked them what the point was of going through a tax service if things like this still happen. We paid them for their help and trusted them to handle it correctly. We explained that we have receipts showing the payment was processed on March 28, and that we'd really appreciate their help getting this sorted out. But the woman I spoke to just said, "Go on and do what you have to do." At this point, we're asking for the business to take some responsibility and assist us in resolving this issue with the IRS. I plan to contact the IRS myself to start the refund process, but we believe the tax office should also follow up on their end--especially since they handled the transaction and were supposed to prevent this double payment from happening. We're hoping to resolve this without taking further steps, but we will if needed.

I am upset that I retain your firm and paid monthly expenses to do my bookkeeping, yet I never get any warning on how much tax I would have to pay at the end of the year. Furthermore, you also paid my tax late. You had access to all my documents every month and everything you requested I always provided in a timely manner. There is no excuse for you to file my tax late. Afterward, you also failed to take any accountability whatsoever. Instead, you tried to blame it on everyone else. In fact, a few months after we ended our relationship, I received a letter from IRS still that you missed a few documents. I have to hire another accountant to double-check your work.
