I went over to visit Bart with two Swiss mechanical watches and one 1947 Hamilton mechanical to get cleaning. They are all working on time so Bart advised do not do anything to working watches. His maintenance charge is very reasonable probably less than comparable places, but Bart saved me hundreds of needless expenses. That kind of integrity is rare these days. Due to apparent user error, our grandfather clock chimes were out of sync with the hour shown on the clock. I called Swiss House expecting to have to make an appointment and shell out hundreds of dollars for the repair. Bart walked me through a reset over the phone and was able to reassure me that the weights were on correctly, damage was not permanent, and that I would not need to stay home from work or take out a small loan for a repair. Drove nearly an hour to have two clocks repaired after another place advertised on Yelp was out of business now. The guy told me to come back in a few hours and it would be done but because it was a long way from home, hanging around was not an option. I told him I could return in two days as he didn't want stuff hanging around the shop for the holiday. Two days later and another nearly hour drive, I'm told it was never touched and it wouldn't be ready until after the holiday. Just not worth trying to do business with small shops. read more

Sent them a few watches, which always look simple to the owner, but were not so simple. Parts are always the issue, and after Bart searched tirelessly for parts for the Longines, he then decided to make the part. I recently moved to the area, and the pendulum for my Howard Miller clock had been damaged in the move. I took the clock and pendulum in, expecting to have to replace the pendulum, and I figured the clock would need to be cleaned and tuned as well. They not only were able to fix the pendulum with some epoxy, but they told me my clock didn't need servicing. They charged me $20 where they could have easily charged me hundreds. I cannot recommend Swiss House enough. There are plenty of places that will take your business, but very few will have this level of integrity. read more

I stopped in here to have batteries put in two wrist watches I own. The lady at the counter told me that having a batter replaced would cost $10.00 each. She then walked into the office with the watches while a gentleman was on the phone with a customer. So I decided to wait and see what the total cost would be. And waited. Both were on the phone with customers. And waited. But it seemed longer than what the wait actually was. Having replaced a battery in one watch while on the phone with a customer, he proceeded on replacing the other battery. So within ten minutes, both batteries were replaced and running. My total was $21.30. During my wait, I was able to look at all of the watches and clocks on display and for sale. If you are looking for a wristwatch, a desk clock, or even a grandfather clock, this is a good place to come to. There was even a Boluva case featuring brass and glass desk clocks. Like the one my mother and father had. Repair work is done on the premises. And like I said, service for my two wrist watches was done while I waited. I immediately put on a wrist watch as I left with a business card so I can return when any work will be needed. My only regret is that I wish I had that clock that mom and dad had on their bedroom dresser. read more

I took my grandmothers wall clock in to be repaired today and met Bart. He wasted no time in getting his tools to figure out what could be the problem with the clock not working. In a matter of minutes he had it solved. Turned out to be a screw jammed in between the gears. He put it back together right there on his counter. This is now my go-to watch repair shop in Orlando and this great experience yesterday is why. The last time my Seiko self-winding dive watch was running fast, I sent it to the Seiko repair facility in New Jersey and they returned it, along with a bill - for $167! Recently, the watch stopped running for no apparent reason, so I took it to the Swiss House. The owner, Mr. Bart Polachek, took the back off and explored it for about ten minutes, discovering several problems resulting from rough use. He repaired it, re-set the time and date for me, and also examined the band and suspect pin on my backup watch - an inexpensive Casio. He explained the problem wasn't the pin, but a slight tapering in the part of the band that held the pin that was the result of a manufacturing defect. I'll return the like-new band to the jewelry and watch repair store where I recently bought it. He also repaired the metal band on an older (10-15 years older) back-up Casio dive watch, only to discover that the mechanism was completely frozen. He told me that replacing the mechanism would cost more than replacing the watch with a new one, so I threw it this oldest watch away when I got home. I expected the price for troubleshooting and repairing the Seiko, as well as checking out my two other watches, to be less than $167. :-) But he had spent about 20 minutes working on them, and I was more than ready to compensate him for his time and expertise. The price he charged me was very, very modest, and far less than the value of his time and expertise in my view. Better-than-fair pricing, great customer service, and a lifetime of expertise: these compel me not only to return to Mr. Polachek's shop for any future watch repair needs, but also to give him my highest recommendation. read more

Very nice people, with excellent (fast) service for replacement of my watch battery. The gentleman pointed out that the crystal of my watch had quite a bit of condensation and for a small extra fee, gave me back a watch that looks and runs like brand new.
