I have found that some health clubs keep the air conditioning low, making the work out very hot. This is not the case. The environment is set up to motive and help reach goals. The version of me that lives in this strong, mobile, joyful body didn't exist a year ago. Last week, friends invited me to hike the entire Camino de Santiago. After taking a deep breath with the realization that I now could walk over 100 miles with friends, the first thing I asked was, "Well, how much Pilates would I have to miss?" Because I'm not sure I can go more than two weeks without my teacher Sean Bergara at Ecore. Sean is one of the best teachers I've ever experienced -- of anything -- and as a casting director and coach, I'm not easy to impress. His passion is palpable. He's written multiple books. He's dealt with his own injuries, so he brings empathy as well as expertise. And every class is different, which means your brain stays just as active as your body. You're never on autopilot. Sean's a master at cues. He'll tell you exactly where you should be feeling the work, so you can learn how to move more effectively and functionally throughout the world, not just sweat through a workout. He offers precise modifications (and I take full advantage -- I still need them all the time!). And because the classes are small -- just 9 reformers -- it feels personal, focused, and safe. My strength, mobility, balance, and confidence have grown exponentially since starting at Ecore in late August of 2024. This isn't just a workout. It's a return to my body -- and to myself. I am grateful for Sean, and would give Ecore ten stars if I could.
