Found out about this new studio through the yoga grapevine (or should I say rope wall?) and headed out to the Coachella Valley to check it out. My husband and I felt instantly calm as we walked into the warm and spacious practice room, taking note of all the nice, new props, the full-length rope wall, and the cushy floors (cork, not hardwood!). Not knowing what to expect from a class titled ''Exploration of the Rope Wall,' led by two up-and-coming Iyengar instructors--Holly Hughins and Mary DeVore--we were taught ten or so variations of the traditional poses, using the wall and ropes to get even deeper into the postures. This was a free public class, but looking at the price list it looks like the drop-in and monthly rates are totally reasonable, especially for instruction from respected Iyengar and Ashtanga practitioners. There's plenty of parking in the shopping center behind Hwy 111 and they have a nice little patio in the back. Next time we trek east for some R&R we're totally making a pit stop here for our yoga fix. Can't wait till they get their website up and running and post some more workshops!

Based on Pilates and physical therapy, I originally signed up to prepare for an upcoming knee surgery. My knee surgery was October 1 and I've had a speedy, painless recovery thanks to all of the work I did in advance with Tera. She prepared me well -- and the focus she put on building my hamstrings and quads was invaluable to my recovery. Each session was curated to build strength and stability for the whole body. She modifies as needed for each individual depending on their issues. She says it's because we do the work. However, I believe because Tera has walked in our shoes, she has created a rehab program that is guaranteed to make us strong and healthy.

Paula has a thorough knowledge of anatomy and physiology of the musculoskeletal system. Which is critical - The last thing I want to do is train wrong and do more damage. Initially, I began training with Paula because of a rotator cuff injury. Paula 's knowledge of anatomy and how the body builds and heals muscles is above and beyond what I expected. ( Experienced she gained from Dental School) I no longer have any issues with my shoulder and still, train with Paula three days a week. Both inside and outside of her studio. Every session with Paula is different, working different parts of the body in the most innovative and fun workouts ever. Yes, they are fun, but also intense, I often have a pleasant soreness after our workouts, but have never been injured from pushing myself hard. Her methods involve weights, stretches, yoga, a little bit of everything, they are very effective. She allows me to push myself further than I would typically my gains have been impressive. Especially when old friends I haven't seen in a long while notice. Recently I attended a "Bootcamp" type training session at another gym just for fun, but without Paula and Karissa's watchful eye and guidance on correct form (her mantra) I injured my knee :-( Mea culpa, won't do that again! Go now while you can still get in! They are THAT good! Most importantly her gym is spotless and has most everything needed for training. It is easy to get to and has plenty of parking. I really liked the personal space/attention. It is nothing like a big gym with all the noise and tons of people. It was a nice change of pace and allowed me to heal my shoulder and live life without surgery or pain. Thanks for everything girls - You girls ROCK.

Everyone there is so knowledgeable, friendly and eager to teach and keep learning. Being a 100% beginner at self-defense and Jiu Jitsu, speaking for myself, I was so scared to feel like I was keeping the class behind or that the other students were going to get impatient because I would need extra help but I haven't felt like that not one bit! Both instructor and students that are ahead in the class happily help you in your journey of learning Jiu Jitsu and even give you tips if they have any to give!
