Reserved it online, but the price was higher when we got there, I asked about the rate I had reserved it at (and had digital receipt). The checkin guy was friendly and said the system wasn't updating, and it'll be right when we check out. It wasn't, it was about $100 higher, when I asked the cashier he got really defensive, another guy tried to step in and help, but he wouldn't have it. In the end they honored the price, but his final words to me, in a sarcastic tone, "Are you happy now?" Will never go back. Also, if you have any issues with your fitting and need to exchange it's a hassle, getting off the mountain and driving there. I'd stick with Christy Sports, Steamboat Sports or Fleischer.

The guys in the shop stopped the repair work they were doing to look at the issue and solved it in 5 minutes! No charge. There was also a wobble in the rear wheel so I left the bike for them to true the wheel They called me same day with the wheel fixed. Turned out to be the way the tire was seated (no charge). Then I went into the store to ask for help with bike fit. They provided a lot of good advice that was focused on my comfort and experience and then made one minor adjustment. No charge, no up selling. I've been riding bikes for 50 yrs+ and have been in many bike shops. What sets Ski and Bike Kare apart from other shops is they realize it's not just about the bike. It's more about my comfort and experience on the bike. My wife and I have been customers of Ski and Bike Kare since we first came to Steamboat last summer and that will continue. They have bins for storage you can rent. They will help you take off your boots at the end of a ski day if needed ! They have a small bar inside which was wonderful for my kids to get a cup of water at the end of a hard skiing day. And a glass of wine for mama ! Just top notch in every single way. We priced several places and they actually came up a tad bit cheaper. It's a win/win for your family. We can not wait to return.

I've never stepped foot into the Hard Headed shop…read more What I have done is reach out to Hard Headed online when my kid needed a last-minute snow helmet after another online store had failed us and my usual go-to's were sold out of what she needed. They stepped up and came through to keep her plans on track with flying colors. I emailed, they responded. And they provided an update. And they followed up once again after my response. You see, I buy a lot of things online. A LOT. When I reach out to a store via email or website message with a specific question or to explain a unique situation, I usually get ignored. Or, occasionally, I receive a cold, uncaring response, often in condescension. Hard Headed was different. I got a warm-blooded human response to a human conundrum. I appreciated, even if they wouldn't be able to fulfill my request, a personal interaction that reminded me that there is another living being facing the other screen. But we received my kid's helmet from Hard Headed, states away, in time, she went on her snowboard trip, and Hard Headed can add another loyal patron to their list.
