    Block Printing class
    Layne D.

As others mention, Monster has some amazing gifts, art, and cool crafting items available for sale. They have a great selection of cards for every occasion too. We took one of their crafting classes which ended up being Block Printing. It was a surprise Saturday class, so you couldn't beat the price. We had such a fun time! The instructor was so nice and helpful. Although my inner artist may need some practice, it was still a blast. Highly recommend taking their classes! It looks like they have a wide variety and some really cool things you can do.

A cool, eclectic shop in the heart of Ballard showcasing the artistic works of local - many from the PNW - artists. I first learned about Monster when Henry (our own local graffiti artist) had a small showing of his works and newly released book of artwork back in April of 2018. Subsequent visits leant themselves to gift buying for visiting friends/family and small trips we have taken to see others, giving them small delights from our neck of the woods.

I took a sewing class here with my 11 year old. We both loved it. I really like the store and the space. Everyone was so friendly and patient while we learned. Such an awesome store.

I brought my team to do an indigo dye workshop, and everyone had the BEST time! Rosalie and her husband were so gracious and accommodating from the start. The tables were all set with everything we needed, and our teacher Melissa did a great job of accommodating all skill levels having something fun for everyone to do. It was a much needed light-hearted, creative and relaxing activity for my team to spend some quality time together. I have thrown a good amount of team events, and this was definitely one of the most successful thanks to everyone at Monster! They took care of all set up and take down making the process SO easy. Highly recommend for your next team outing!

Fun, small, unique shop with quirky one of a kind gifts located in a vibrant corner of Old Ballard neighborhood. They have fun oddball T-shirts', humorously inappropriate magnets for the shower, candles with quippy belly laughing funnies emblazoned on them, stationary, crafts kits, and socks galore! They showcase local artisans so you can feel good about who you're supporting with your purchase. Fun to browse but you won't walk out empty handed!

I just crossed the street to go to this store lured by the boho look of the facade. Historic building in the heart of Ballard. I like those buildings here with that much brick and stories of lived lives. The story inside the store is a monster one, not monstrosity, but the fluffy type. All kind of toys with the quirkiest monster look for those in your family or friends' circle that enjoy the contemplation of one-eyed characters. Small in the inside that what it looks from the outside, this little box is full of surprised. I was more interested in all those funky colorful socks hanging in one of the walls. But for cartooned monster gifts, this is your place!

This is the first review I have ever posted to yelp--that is how happy I am with the service provided by the staff of this establishment. Searching for the elusive "Jewish Wisdom Ball" as a humorous gift for my 92 year-old father (who fortunately needs nothing), it was out of stock everywhere, until it showed up on the gift shop website, on sale no less. I placed my order and crossed my fingers. Within 48 hours I received a cheery message wishing me a "Happy Hanukkah", confirming shipping and actually apologizing for not having mailed it faster in the midst of the busy holiday season! I have since had occasion to contact them again and they are always prompt, professional and courteous. The gift shop is in Seattle while I live in Illinois, yet they treat me as though I am an old friend or longtime congregation member who has been walking through their doors often over the years. Based on this positive experience I intend to continue to support them with future purchases where appropriate. They are the sort of people we need more of in the world today and I can't thank them enough for the manner in which they do their jobs.

We wandered through several little boutiques and artisan stalls -- each one had something different, from handmade goods to quirky touristy finds that you can't help but pick up. Of course, we had to stop by the famous fish‑throwing spot. It's touristy in the best way possible -- loud, fun, and full of personality. Watching them toss fish across the counter never gets old and definitely adds to the whole Pike Place experience. We also got to do Zoltar, which was such a nostalgic moment, and then wandered into a tarot store right after. The whole area is full of surprises like that -- one minute you're watching flying fish, the next you're getting a fortune card and browsing crystals. Be prepared for lots of walking, though. The market twists, turns, and goes up and down levels, but that's part of the charm. Every corner has something new to see. Overall, Pike Place Market is lively, iconic, and full of character. A perfect mix of food, shops, entertainment, and classic Seattle vibes. Absolutely worth the visit!

I kind of thought you could buy most essentials at the airport, but it turns out children's shoes are not a typical travel need, at least when they aren't being worn by traveling children. Fireworks did carry children's slippers, which caught my eye as I passed, as well as a nice assortment of unique, crafty toys and gifts. Unfortunately, my five-year-old followed me into the store and zeroed in on a tiny, colorful finger puppet in the shape of a parrot. He asked me to buy it for him, and I declined, telling him we weren't getting a souvenir before we even left the airport. He was upset by this to the point of tears, but I managed to get us out of there. We had a wonderful time in Seattle, and to his credit, the five-year-old behaved well the whole trip (and the two-year-old got new shoes). When I saw Fireworks Gallery again by our departure gate, I decided at the last possible second to stop in and get him the parrot. It was one of several Folkmanis finger puppets in a wire basket. I picked it up along with a bunny rabbit and went to check out. There was a short line at the register--I guess this shop gets decent traffic--and by the time I was up, my husband was calling to tell me we were boarding. This is how I paid $36.36 for two finger puppets that cost $10 apiece online. Fireworks got me good, but my boys do love their little puppets, which are soft and cute and well made. The wares here are definitely nicer and less generic than at your average airport store. It might cost you, though, if you wander in there with your kids.

While the glass art is stunning, it is a relatively quick walk through, and I find that I do not spend a lot of time here during my visits (which can be good or bad). Tickets are not cheap, and it is not the most engaging option for younger children. That said, our kids did thoroughly enjoy watching the live glass-blowing demonstration, which was a fantastic highlight -- we ordered a pizza (took about 10 min, which was perfect timing for us to wait for the next demo and grab front row seats) and were able to feed them during the show. Overall, it is a worthwhile, beautiful stop if you are already in the area and looking for a quick dose of local culture, though families with very young children may want to weigh the ticket price against the short visit time or alternative options.
