Nice park. Played youth basketball here 12 years ago. Nice to see them keeping activities open for the next generations.

Not only for the students, it's also great for the locals and neighborhood community. The staff are friendly and helpful. It's a big medium sized gym with all of kinds of equipment you could think of, lots of opportunities to do such as taking Zumba classes, badminton and etc. (as long as you were registered for a membership), Parking is free and open on the street. Building environment is very clean and neat!! :) Then, Covid hit and they closed the gym as well. The gym remained closed for a very long time. I would say 3-4 years (sheesh)! They finally opened the gym again earlier in 2023. I returned to the gym and then I noticed a few things: 1. They are no longer open on the weekends :( Such a bummer. 2. The hours have slightly been cut. They used to open around 6 AM and close the gym somewhere around 10/11 PM. Maybe I'm wrong about the mornings but who remembers right? 3. Some or most of the equipment are outdated and rusty. (For example: the seatings from the machines that are ripped) Yes, most of them are still in good condition and in good shape. I would just keep an eye out on some equipment. 4. My personal favorite concern... they took out the classes. I mean they took away Zumba and it was my absolute favorite class. As I mentioned before, you didn't have to be a student. As long as you are a registered member of the gym. Overall, it's a great and clean fitness center and good for the locals. I highly encourage students should definitely take advantage of it! Even with the small changes, it's just not the same. I hope the staff continues to make this place greater. If anything, I really hope there will be a slight change of how the gym environment and opportunity wise used to be.

So taking a kinisogly class for a month. I'm so glad I did this instead of on line class. At least I'm out of the house. Very different from my kettle bell class. It's good to switch it up. It's wired to be back in school, and taking roll call. Any way very nice place

I love the scenic outlook of the park and feel like I get really nice bouts of fresh air here. Sometimes the park entrance gates are closed, which is weird, but it may be due to the weathers so keep that in mind as it's more of a private community park. The set-up of the park is great and the parking is super large. There is a large stage and I just know that this park has big prospects in mind for the future!!! Currently, it's not too packed and at the same time not too empty so we'll see how it goes in the future!!! Bathrooms are clean for a park and am satisfied with the amenities.

We came here with our rackets to play some pickleball and for the first hour it was just enough with the 4 courts. After past the hour mark, it started getting more full and groups were waiting outside the court. Regardless, my boyfriend and I were super happy to have finally checked out this new park after hearing about it from my roommates. Also want to note that the spot has a large stage and ampitheatre-like set-up and we would love to see if there are any community events that pop up here. The sign of the park also just says Porter Ranch Community Park even though it says differently online. Hopefully the name confusion can be fixed. Anyways, this is definitely a wonderful addition for the community and I hope it stays how it is with the maintenance and care! - kid-friendly apparatus area - one basketball court - 4 pickleball courts (looks too small for tennis) - clean bathrooms

We really like Lake Balboa because of the lake, ducks, and huge space but it gets soo busy on the weekends which makes parking such an issue. Think of this place as a smaller version of Lake Balboa but a lot less crowded. I feel like many people don't know about this place, and I hope it stays that way! We came on a Saturday morning and parking was a breeze. There's bathrooms by the parking lot and it seems like a few trails around the lake which we haven't explored yet. There seems to be a public pool which looks massive so I'm curious to see if it'll get busy during the summer. We'll have to come back to check it out. Overall, it's very clean, calm, safe, and it would be a great place for a picnic, walk, or even children's party :)

We often see people walking along the top path of the dam, but we decided to park at the Ranger Station and walk in the opposite direction of the norm. What we discovered was lots of beautiful trees, plenty of wildlife, and many people taking advantage of this beautiful area - even on horseback! The aforementioned Ranger Station has friendly folks working there, a nice depiction of local flora and fauna, history of the area, as well as maps and notations of various activities and trails. These trails are more walking than hiking. This area is fairly flat, unless you're moving down into the lower areas, then wanting to walk back up. But I wouldn't consider any of it a challenging walk. A paved trail around the recreation area is clearly marked for pedestrians and bike use. I was amazed at the public pool! Unfortunately, I accidentally deleted my photos whilst attempting to post, but I assume there are others already posted, showing the massive size and fun looking waterslides offered. Plenty of changing rooms/restrooms available. Check the Hansen Dam website for hours. Also impressive is the beautiful recreational lake used for paddling, kayaks, fishing and small boats. Recently, the lake was stocked with Trout. I couldn't tell if any of the folks fishing managed to catch anything, but it was nice to see plenty of families trying. Within this HUUUGE complex, in addition to the recreational lake and aquatic center are A Discovery Cube, Skateboard park, kids playground and public library. We had a very nice time wandering about and hope to return soon for a longer walk along the top of the dam for sonic views of the SFV. Cheers! "CC"
