Simply put... one of the best places to eat in Milton!! Always good food and good value. This is our "go to" place for sure. Went for lunch with some family and friends and almost all of us were disappointed. It was an overall horrible food experience. Three of us ordered a burger (hoping it was easy enough to not screw up). Bread that tasted two weeks old. Burger was over done to a point of disgust. All 3 of us sent them back and asked to speak to the manager. The manager said no problem and took the burgers back, and offered us different food. We all declined because we were disgusted. She brought us the bill and she only took 25% off our bill!!!! After a little arguing, the real manager came out and took the food off the bill. What a laugh. This place will be out of business soon. Been to Symposium a few times since moving to Milton and the food is consistenly good. I typically come here for lunch. They have a variety of great lunch options such as sandwiches, pasta etc and you cannot pass up the fruit smoothies. I had their chocolate cheesecake a while back and I remember how delicious it was and of course, I felt guilty right after eating it! I also recommend their patios in summer time. It's not huge but very enjoyable on a warm day. read more

Very very bad , went there to get desert .., asked for it without whipped cream,came with whipped cream and the ice cream was the worst ever ..the 10$ tubs from no frill taste even better than this stuff .. I came here with a friend for some late afternoon brunch, great choice since they have their breakfast menus available past three pm (the time we were there). I ordered the salmon pesto breakfast which came with a piece of salmon with pesto sauce, homefries, three eggs and four pieces of pita triangles. I loved almost everything about my meal, huge homefries fan so really I can't go wrong with that option; lightly salted and crisp! The three eggs were done really well (I asked for sunny side up and I got....sunny side up! I say this with shock because I feel as if some breakfast places don't want to do sunny side up and I end up with over-easy) and I used my pita for dipping in my egg yolk! Yay! What I really didn't like was that the salmon had a light breading on it, which wasn't specified in the menu and I cannot stress this enough..I HATE BREADED FISH and if it is going to be breaded, please put it on the menu so I can change my order! Also, the pesto sauce was really buttery, which I don't understand. It had a yellowish tint. Not a fan. We ordered some coffee and sat and chatted for a bit, the place itself is very nicely decorated and warm. We were so comfortable in the booth that we stayed way past finishing our meal. Oops. The verdict? I will come back, perhaps in the summer to enjoy the patio and frozen drinks but I will be staying away from the salmon pesto breakfast. read more

Not sure what has changed, but I give this a 0 to 1 star rating at max. I've been in Milton for 5+ years and have been eating here at least once or twice a month, usually for weekend breakfast or brunch. (It's close...) I went in for dinner today with the kids and the food quality was very poor. Surprised, I told my waitress and the manager came to speak with me. I will not go into details, however the young manager did tell me this was the third complaint he had (with the salads) and that the last time they found a piece of plastic in with the salad. Really? Was that supposed to make me feel better, let alone rectify the issue? Basically, I gather what he was trying to tell me was sorry for your luck as it could have been much worse? Not happy and many better places in Milton if you explore. read more

The restaurant was busy when I arrived. The host/manager(?) was great and even though there were a couple of available tables close to the door, he suggested that if I was willing to wait for a couple minutes, there was a group getting ready to leave a booth. The server unfortunately, was not at all attentive. I get that you're busy but at least stay put long enough to allow me to finish my drink order. He was polite but very abrupt. The food was also a disappointment. I had the steak salad. $15.95 for about 4 ounces of steak over mixed greens and a handful of julienne carrots. I think I counted 4 croutons. Blah! read more

This is a nice place, just don't sit beside a hockey team. We sat at same time and were served only after all 16 parents were served at adjoining tables. It took two hours to get a burger and fries. Asked to see manager but they never came. Oh well We will try again maybe next year. Meh... read more

Just ate at this restaurant and we were a large group, the food took one hour and forty-five minutes to arrive, apparently we were supposed to have two waitress but one did not show up for their shift. Is that not the manager's problem? Food was cold and tasteless not to mention expensive. Not impressed. read more

I took my eight-year-old daughter to Symposium for brunch. We were seated, given menus and sat for fifteen minutes with no further attention from staff - not even a smile or a nod. Fair enough. We left and went to another restaurant. There are plenty of restaurants in the area with friendly staff and good food, there's no incentive to put up with poor service. read more

Took over an hour for our food to come. Service was very poor. I ordered the Thai chicken bites twice there and both times were horribly salty and I say that considering I actually love salty food. zero stars I downloaded yelp just to complain about how absolutely terrible the service is here. 1. When we got seated, someone didn't come and offer drinks or water for 20 minutes. 2. When we finally ordered, it took an hour for them to tell us that they didn't have the meat for one of our orders. 3. When we got the menu to reorder for the meal they said they didn't have, it took them 20 minutes to come back and ask what we would like to order. (We ended up ordering a salad so it would be quick). 4. The salad took another 40 minutes to get, at this point everyone else was done their food. 5. The table was not cleared, I had to give him dishes to take. 6. Of the 9 meals they messed up, they offered 3 slices of cake to make up for it. No comp meal or anything. 7. He left in the middle of taking orders while we were talking to him. 8. The cake took 20 minutes to get. 9. They didn't even bring us the right cakes that we asked for. Honestly I'm shocked and disgusted at the service. I will never come here again. I debated walking out without paying the bill because the entire experience was so crap. read more

Some harsh reviews here from a decidedly picky clientele. And to dismiss this quiet neighborhood cafe as just a dessert place is really giving it short shrift. I was there for the first time last night and had two separate recommendations before going. it was busy for even a Monday night around the dinner hour (6:30ish). Got a booth for a table and ordered white wine for my date and beer on tap and special for myself. Waiter was attentive and allowed us time to drink and talk and peruse the menu. We selected the Spinach Dip for starter and then she chose the chicken souvlaki and I the tilapia. Both were very flavourful and cooked right. The ambiance was good with families as well as couples eating. A good cross section of people. Not too loud and no overwhelming music. WE could talk, and get close and enjoy a relaxed atmosphere. I would return and would recommend to others. I hear that the breakfasts are very good and the dessert, although we did not have any. read more

I called Symposiums less then a week to reserve for about 20-25 people for the coming Sunday expecting that It would be too late, but Matt assured me that it would be fine and that he could make it work. Did a pick up order, all the staff was great friendly and helpful EXCEPT the bar tender. Girl led me over to the bar to pay and to the till . He takes over and pronounces in a very negative way I am not allowed to stand behind the bar which I was not but off to the side right were I was originally led too. Alright then! I gave also yet to say a single word but thank you ti the girl who brought me over So I go to give him my card and hand the pos back to him so he can prepare the receipts and He say " we are going to do it that way are we..." In a snarky condescending full camp councillor manner. Bizarre ti day the least as I did absolutely nothing to warrant any attitude The manger has always had spot in friendly service but this bar tender dude but sure what the deal was. This used to be my favorite spot once upon a time, went every year for my birthday, every date night, but for some reason the quality has dropped MAJOR. Not worth the price tag. The food is mediocre at best (if you send it back to be made properly) and the attitude of who I believe to be the assistant manager (Fred) was very offensive. I order the pad Thai whenever I would go sit down (used to be my fav) and I would have it made with only broccoli as I don't like the onions and peppers they usually put in, and it was never a problem. I recently started getting take out, and I kid you not- EVERY SINGLE TIME I've had my boyfriend bring it back and ask them to make it properly. The noodles were bland and dry, not saucy the way they used to be made, and even after specifying the way I would like it made, very clearly, they always get it wrong. I kept going back because I really did enjoy the pad Thai once I got it made properly, but this last visit has turned me off for good. I called, explained my order to "Fred" as per usual, mentioned that the past couple times I've had to bring it back so I confirmed the way I wanted it prepared (saucy and only broccoli) and this man has the nerve to say playfully "you didn't bring it back, you ate it!" And I brought them back their bland dry pad Thai made incorrectly to my specifications every single time for my replacement. I had to drive 15 minutes across town every time. When I received my food, there was everything BUT broccoli (Fred repeated to me my order and specified broccoli only) and the noodles were of course dry and bland yet again. I'm convinced they remembered me and my "complicated order" and chose to do this, because the attitude was always crappy with me. I'm sorry, but if I'm paying 20$ for damn pad Thai it better be made properly. Will NEVER return. Successfully been bullied out of my favourite dish. My boyfriends burger was also dry and disgusting and they gave him about 10 French fries as his side. Frozen dinner quality food with a high end price tag in my opinion. read more
