Insurance upcoming? I don't know but I won't be back! Also one lady in the front office is very rude. No one explains anything to patients. I meant insurance "upcoding?" I was there for a rash. I have NO issues with my Asthma. I am very disappointed.

I was told I missed an apt. I didn't have it in my planner & probably did miss in error. I was told if I didn't provide them with a credit card, I could "not" see the doctor today or get my allergy shot. I was told I could reschedule today to later in the month which I did. I was told that if I did not provide them with my credit card number by close of business today, my apt for later in the month would be cancelled. I asked if I could discuss this with Erica & was told, I couldn't go through those door without providing my credit card number. I said I had errands to run and had to think on this. I was told they would call me at 3 PM. I wasn't home & the message I got on my recorder said that since I didn't provide my credit card, my apt they gave me today for 24 Feb was cancelled. I would like to comment that I've been a patient for at least 15 years. I said it was a hardship to pay the $50 & asked if the fee could be waived. The girl left the desk and came back and said, NO. I'm having quite a few medical problems right now and it would have been helpful to either waive the fee or at least let me make payments in increments. I have many doctors in the BJC network here in IL & in MO & have never been asked that I have a credit card on file. Being turned away today caused me confusion as to what was really important in the medical field - why men & women become doctors? Is it only for the "money" or is it to "treat patients"? I feel the staff was not willing to discuss "options" other than having my credit card on file & payment immediately? I left a bit stunned as if I didn't have a voice in my healthcare. Now, I find myself looking for a new allergy doctor as I can't go back here - unless - I have my credit card number on file & pay this $50 fee. I'm 80 years old. I have one income. I am frugal. I left today with feelings of "what is the value of my life" when it comes to dollar and cents? Apparently, the answer is dollars and cents. Not the welfare of the patient. I was surprised of the outcome of today's events as I came to the office for my appointment, & if seen by the doctor today, it meant the allergy center would have made money on my doctor visit as well as my allergy shot. Sometimes, it pays to use commonsense & have a common-ground regarding doctor/patient relationships. I feel I have to find a new allergist who's top priority is the "patient" and not just the "dollars".

This office is on the first floor so park in the back or take the stairs down. From the website: "We are a unique office and comprehensive resource for the diagnosis and treatment of children and adults with allergic conditions. " The older receptionist was polite but the young receptionist(?) as I left was not very polite, young gal she was, and was talking away while the doctor was patiently waiting for her to stop talking about some sort of gossip(no really it was lol) so he could give her information about my check out. She of course screwed up and did not sign me up for their online service that allows you to email the doctor etc.. The doctor was fantastic! Dr. Michael Borts, M.D. was thorough and patient. I was very impressed with his demeanor and his ability to communicate to a patient (me) so clearly. Usually doctor's just use vague terms and then don't leave you fully prepared for when another doctor asks for what tests were done or why or any information that might be helpful. Dr. Michael Borts was perfect. He wanted the whole picture, had helpful suggestions, and laid out a plan for how to precede from there. I finally felt some reassurance that there was a path to getting my many, of late, health problems solved. My only complaint besides the terrible receptionist(?) was that the bathrooms are in the hall outside of the doctor's office. That was a bit odd but it was clean. TLDR: It is a bit of trip out here but Dr. Michael Borts listened, communicated and gave a clear picture of how to precede. I abhor going to the doctor so this is a compliment indeed. My first visit but I found him worth the trip and recommend him this far.
