The Palestra has four courts-- for basketball or volleyball with a handful of batting cages and pickleball courts! You can conveniently rent courts online. We were in a tournament run by the Palestra this past weekend. I'm knocking a star off this review because there were a handful of things I'd have done differently in regards to the tournament planning. (Notably; we were at TWO locations for the tournament vs one, our games were super duper late and finally, we had to provide a parent to run the scoreboard.) Our poor kids didn't get a chance to see their parents sitting by the court because the game after was more important than ours apparently. We parents are all in this together!! Just ask the person in your seat to put your coat there when they are through. And for Pete's sake don't let your children practice dribbling between this mom and the game I'm trying to watch. I shouldn't have to ask your children to move!! My son's team did amazing and sadly went home with medals that weren't even intended for them. Some were baseball, not basketball, so yes I'm upset with the facility, but I'm more upset that parents can't work together to support our amazing kiddos.

The facility is is big and has almost everything I could want. The weights and machines have rust, most of the pads have rips, and some of the machines are broken. The entry way is nice and the smoothie bar is awesome! The road way and parking lot are well taken care of but I do wish the was more landscaping done outside. I like seeing wildness after I am done working out not hotels and highways. Like I say, good bones but needs some improvements. I have recommended the North Dodge Club to a lot of my colleagues and family.

The price, at least for a day pass, was definitely worth the stop. Plenty of classes offered... massage therapy offered, and great staff overall. I tried several classes and enjoyed them all so I joined at the Team Training level, which is basically small group personal training. The trainers and other members could not be more welcoming and I truly enjoy my morning workouts. This is quite possibly my favorite play structure in Iowa City. It lives in the heart of the…read morepedestrian mall and is always crawling with kiddos. Screams of glee and children running around like crazy people are normal around this green Iowa City staple. The structure is right next to the Iowa City Public Library and sits on a soft rubber floor. As a parent, I definitely appreciate that my kids aren't playing in sand or hot asphalt! Park benches surround the jungle gym and always has parents watching their kids but also soaking in the downtown atmosphere. With the addition of Gene's and their patio, I love having a drink as I watch my kiddos play in the summer now that they are a bit more self sufficient -- and when the students are out of town, so it is less crazy busy. The Weather Dance Fountain is right next to the play area, as well. My ONLY knock is lack of shade. Holy cow! Bring your sunscreen, baseball caps and expect to roast on summer days. Park in the Dubuque Street Ramp for a short walk to the park, and first hour free!
