Just yucky Travis, the technician called me to let me know he would be doing the set up and he gave me pointers on guitar strings and recommended a set of Elixers. He inquired about the way I played. Travis set up the heck outta my guitar. The intonation--- perfect. Action -- could not be better, nice and smooth. He also polished it and oiled the fretboard. On the invoice, he commented: "restrung with perfect jazz gauge finger style with a light touch, cleaned conditioned fretboard." Indeed! This is the best set up I've had and I've been playing 40+ years! Plus the overall service was excellent and at a fair price! (Totally different experience as compared to my experience with Guitar Center with my 6 string bass.). I would also they did a good job for my sax adjustments. This a really good company. Travis ia a most excellent technician. Highly recommended!

First of all the employees there are super chill and friendly. I'm just starting to learn the bass guitar and they never once made me feel inferior due to my lack of experience. I have a bass guitar already and it needed a setup so I brought it into the store. $65 bucks for the setup and around $20 for new strings. Competitive pricing. The setup seemed good but then about a week after the setup my strings started buzzing. I brought it back in. The tech looked it over and knew exactly what the issue was - cold weather. The rapid weather change we had made my neck bow ever so slightly that the strings were too close to the frets. Since I had just got it worked on, it took him like a minute and he adjusted it and now the bass is rocking perfectly. I also was interested in a Blackstar amp and NB Music is a dealer. They can order equipment for the brands that they carry and the prices are as good as online or other big box music shops. I wanted a specific guitar amp and they had to check on availability as they didn't have this particular model in stock. Now this is my only complaint about the store, they never called me back. I messaged them on Facebook messenger and then they replied quickly that the amp I wanted was discontinued by the manufacturer. I like the place a lot. They carry in stock mostly the affordable models but carry some of the upper end stuff and if you want really high end, they can order it for you. I will continue to be a customer!

DO NOT take your instrument here for setups…read more I visited Musicians Woodshed last week and initially spoke with one of the guitar techs, Jett Boyd, who was polite and professional. We discussed my bass guitar and the possibility that some frets might need adjustment. When I returned the following week after noticing some fret buzz, I spoke with Miles Manglos. I explained that I prefer a very straight neck with low action and that I was not interested in adding more relief to the neck. Because of that, the logical solution would have been to address the fret work. Instead, he suggested doing a setup that would involve adding relief and raising the action--the exact opposite of what I had just explained I wanted. When I asked whether that meant adding neck relief and how that would affect the current setup, he couldn't clearly explain it. I also mentioned that at a different shop in another city, a tech had previously performed a setup even though I specifically asked him not to and only wanted the jack repaired. I brought this up simply to explain why I was trying to be very clear about the work I wanted done. Instead of addressing the issue professionally, Miles abruptly declined to work on the instrument and told me to leave. He was dismissive and repeatedly said he didn't understand what I was saying. A competent guitar tech or luthier should be able to translate what a musician is describing and communicate clearly about the work being recommended. If a shop cannot or does not want to perform a certain service, that's fine--but it should be handled respectfully and professionally. Unfortunately, this interaction came across as pretentious and unhelpful, and it left a very negative impression of the shop.

Leo is my son's instructor and he is patient, kind and very knowledgeable. He pushes my son and encourages his talent. It was easy to get lessons set up, we called and told her what we were looking for and she set the lessons up for us within the following week. Price is fair $100/month for weekly 30 minute lessons. Although my son does piano, they offer violin, guitar, voice, and I'm sure many other lessons with various instructors.
