Such an incredible shop! Owner Theresa has such a beautiful shop, offers a ton of different scents and products, and truly goes out of her way to make customers feel welcome. I went in to get a jump start on holiday shopping, and I was so happy to find so many different scents. I got several gifts, including lotion, soaps, bath bombs and more. Scent-wise there's something for everyone, including floral, fruity, seasonal scents and even ones made from beer and spirits. There are also candles, soap holders, local art, and so much more. It's a fantastic shop in the heart of Troy. Shop small and support someone in your community, and get incredible gifts too! read more

This is a great shop fully of wonderful scents and sights. This is a great place to get gifts just for yourself or for others. The store is beautiful with the rows of colorful soaps. I have gotten bar soaps, bath bombs, and jar candles and all have been fantastic. Theresa (the owner) is spot on with the scent profiles and the product designs! The bar soap scent even stays fragrant for the whole use of the bar - it still smelled great when there was only a tiny piece left. read more

Amazing soap and gift store in Troy. Theresa, the owner is so friendly and helpful. She always greets all her customers with a smile and is willing to help you choose the perfect gift. The shop itself is super charming. Her soaps smell and look wonderful and she has an ever changing array of seasonal scents along with her regulars. I am a fan of her handmade lotions, bath bombs and candles as well. I used to have regular, frequent flare-ups of eczema on my hands in the winter but since I've switched to her soaps I only rarely get one or two small spots that do not last long. I send her soaps every year to a couple of out of state friends and they always look forward to receiving them, they even started ordering them from her Etsy site. read more

Home made soaps, delightful gifts, and a friendly artisan owner named Theresa. I buy soap whenever I visit, and I receive soap from here whenever I'm home. Ginger Ale soap simply starts my day off with an invigorating feeling, so refreshing and soothing to my skin. Why buy soap at Bath and Body Works when you can have wonderful homemade soap supporting a local business woman? I love the minimalist packaging, the presentation if it's a gift, and the small samples of soap that Theresa tosses in for free, perfect for traveling. I stumbled upon T&J soaps at the last Troy Night Out. The soaps come in lots of different scents. I grabbed a Pinot Grigio soap. I've never seen wine in soap. Wine without the calories! The shop offers seasonal scents, so if something is limited I would stock up. Also, the more you buy the more you can save. I used the soap this past weekend. It left my skin soft and the scent lingered slightly. There are candles, lip balms and homemade bath-bombs. I grabbed two of those- Cozy Chamomile and Victorian Rose. They smell lovely and making my workout clothes drawer smell so until I use them. The owner Theresa introduced herself to my friend and I and we had a great time chatting about skincare. She was fun and gracious. In addition, made sure to state that if I had any questions please contact her. I love their soap! I have purchased several soaps, bath bombs, and lip balms over the past few months. I like that the ingredients are all natural and healthy for my skin. Plus they smell like heaven! My favorites are the beer soaps (made from Saranac beer), Bordeaux, Cherry Almond, Rosemary Peppermint & Eucalyptus. The Clary Sage is a perfect hand soap. I'm a big fan of this charming little shop, its attached to the Art Center in Troy and she has a great selection of soap. Her scents are original and very well made, I have Cranberry Chutney and Ginger Ale right now, not to be fooled, she does have lavender and more floral scents as well. I keep going back because her soaps last so long, I cut them in half and I can't remember the last time I replaced the bar! I absolutely love this place. I discovered it at least 9 months ago and regularly stop in to purchase more soaps. Everything is hand-made by the owner who is super sweet. Everything smells amazing and leaves your skin feeling incredible! I have bought at least 10 different fragranced soaps, detox bath soaks, soap socks (I recommend everyone buy one!), and bath bomb fizzes. I have officially given up any other type of soap and strictly use products from T&J Soaps. Everything is reasonably priced and you get a free sample soap w/ every purchase. I found T&J Soaps while attending my first Art on Lark...a few weeks later I was in her shop and in the hole for $30 worth of wonderful smelling soap. The soap leaves your body not only smelling fresh, but ridiculously soft. The lip balm is also something I am now addicted too as well. All items are completely natural and made by the owner (who is fab BTW). Small shop in Troy, friendly service and an overall great product. read more

A pleasant greeting upon entering her store, will ask if one needs help and leaves you alone.with so many choices. If the customer wants to engage in conversation she is there with a positve conversation. I don,t use a lot of her product because taking a shower every six weeks---we,ll you get the idea. I love this soap. Not only does it work well and smell great, it is also just super pretty. Half the time I don't even want to use it because I would be ruining it. They also have this really cool 4-pack of beer flavored beer, it comes in what looks like a beer pack. It's so cool looking I don't think I am doing it justice. The owner is so nice and if you stop in you can usually see her making her products. Such a cool place! read more

I LOVE this store and don't shop anywhere else for soap anymore. I love that it's handmade, local and uses ingredients that I recognize, instead of weird chemicals like soap you buy at a grocery store. My skin always feels so nice regardless of the scent I buy, but my favorites are the charcoal face soap and the grapefruit bar. I like the bathroom accessories too, and have bought some other things for my home here. The soy candles smell as good as the soap and there's a great selection of those as well. read more

We started making cold process soaps because we loved them so much. We made a few batches and have been hooked since! All our cold process soaps are crafted with high quality vegetable oils. Great for your skin and animal friendly. Our soaps smell wonderful, good for your skin and are a treat to look at. Your skin will love you for using them! We load our soaps with skin loving goodies like olive oil, coconut oil, avocado butter, shea butter, castor oil, and hemp seed oil. Our combination of oils creates hard, long-lasting, moisturizing bars that have a nice bubbly, creamy lather. Come visit our new store in the heart of Troy, NY. We are located at 271 River Street, Troy, NY 12180. Hours are Tues-Friday 11-6 and Saturday 9-5. Lots of handmade soaps and locally made artisan gifts.

Established in 2009.

We started out as a small home based soap business. We made our products at home and participated i local farmer's markets and craft shows. Our business expanded into our retail shop in 2012.

Meet the Business Owner: Theresa V.

Born in Syracuse, but spent most of my life in Albany, NY. I hold degrees in the visual arts and art education. I use my knowledge of color and form to design each one of my soaps. I taught Art Education in local public schools for eight years.
