I'm not going to get into the religious views of this company...let just talk fabric cutting counter. Not a great selection of fabric to begin with, but whatever, I've found some cool stuff. Rarely is there a staff member in the department...I usually have to ring the bell. Okay, great, they finally show up. Now for those of us here in 2019, we are used to decent technology, including scanners that can read bar codes. Not only does HL not have scanners, they HAND WRITE every single fabric price and amount on a slip. Then calculate each price. So let's go through the process shall we? Employee slowwwwwwly unrolls fabric from bolt, then places it against the ruler repeatedly to make sure not to give even an eighth of an inch more than we asked for! Slowwwwwwly cuts said fabric. Slowwwwwly folds fabric and places into a pile. Slowwwwwwly hand writes amount on slip. Slowwwwwwly folds up bolt and sets aside. Repeat. And don't get me started on when there's a mistake and they have to rewrite the entire slip. I don't know if the employees are not properly trained or just seriously lack customer service skills. They should just stand there and watch while I cut my own fabric; I'd sure as heck get out of there faster! Bottom line - if you have a lot of time to kill, or just really want to torture yourself, grab a few bolts of fabric and have them cut various sizes. You can thank me later. read more

Good God Hobby Lobby! Get yourself together! I get into a line... 2nd person... Cashier says oh do you have a return? I am doing only returns. No I say. Then you need to go over to the other line. No problem! I am now 4th in line behind a woman with a ridiculous amount of faux flowers! The cashier in the original line goes on break and the new cashier starts ringing people that formed a line In the supposed "refunds" line I get to the cashier and she says oh, I guess I will take you. I am supposed to be on break. You are my last customer! You better take me I say! I was sent over here by the other cashier who said she was only doing refunds! And there is a line of 6 or 7 now Oh and all my items are not 40% off like the sign above the merchandise stated... ok And you no longer do coupons... such a bummer. I like this store a lot. As a hobbyist, it has an extensive selection of things that I use (paint, glue, model kits, wood shapes, etc.) all under one roof. Things are laid out well, it is well lit, and relaxing. My wife loves their home goods areas, their craft sections, and their holiday areas. Sometimes, we go on date nights here just to wander around and look at things. Occasionally, we find something for our house or a project but other times we just enjoy seeing all the cool items they have. I like their principles, their background music, and I respect their decision to close early and not open on Sundays. Getting here by 8PM on weekdays is tough at times, but I get it. I have only two issues with them: (1) their "sale" policy where it looks like just about everything is on sale in the store all the time. It makes it harder to use coupons, and is somewhat misleading. (2) there is a lot of kitsch junk in the front middle portion of the store that just seems like it will fall apart if you sneeze at it. However, if you want real craft stuff just walk through the front portion to the back and shop away! read more

Bogus. Nevermind their bad press, this place opened a huge tacky store next to AC Moore, a nice craft store (w/great coupons) that had been in that mini mall for years. I don't cotton to the Starbucks / Walmart tactics of trying to muscle out already existing "competition". Others have commented on the low quality, shady pricing, & that everything is from China. 1- Need to upgrade the checkouts. How in this day, and age, are they having the cashiers ring up prices manually? I'm never sure I've gotten the sales prices or discounts this way, and it's hard to use a non-itemized receipt for projects. Lines are always so long. 2- Bathroom is DISGUSTING. Toilets are broken, lights are super-dim - probably a good thing... filthy everything. And they have toilet paper on 1 side at bowl level and the sanitary trash can on the other side at bowl level. So you kinda have to hope you are centered or you're probably coming out with a metal cut on your hip. Just gross. 3- Fabric selection leaves much to be desired- the store has tons of stuff for every other craft - not so much for sewing crafts. Could be a great store- but meh, it's not. read more

Looking for Tacky JUNK then you found it. I was looking waste a few minutes so I mistakenly went in here. WOW, this place was so crowded...with Junk! I was in awe when I saw multiple women pushing cart over flowing with bags of junk out of this place. What could they possible have found here, I thought to myself? There are so many pictures frames and tacky knick-knacks, I think you could drown in them. They make their flyer sound as if they are running the best deal in town. Well I can tell you they aren't. The percentage is off of an over price item, making the item regular price elsewhere. I don't see the bargain, and I also would never step foot in here again. The staff are rude and seem to be on some kind of mission. I was almost pushed over by two of them because they needed to get to a display. I would definitely skip this place. The only reasons that I'm giving it 3 stars instead of 4 is because it gives you the illusion that it's prices are MUCH cheaper then other craft stores but what really is happening is that they have some lower quality products, plaining items that ARE much cheaper. The products are identical to the ones in other craft stores are about the same prices maybe slightly cheaper, often the same prices. They do have EVERYTHING though, and a lot of things in every color. If you needed to throw a party or decorate a room with a specific theme this is your place. If you wanted to decorate your house, throw a party, and make a scrapbook and didn't wanna stop at different stores, this is also your places. The people who work there are also pretty friendly, and don't appear to hate their job which is always important. read more

Yesterday was the first time I stepped foot in a hobby lobby and probably the last. Everything is scattered all over the place, you have to basically walk the entire store to even see what they have since there are no signs saying what is in which aisle. Hobby Lobby management needs some definite training(or additional mngr training) on how management speaks to their customers appropriately. Just witnessed one of their managers "Raphael" speak despicably to a customer. The young girl had merchandise with a price tagged(and told mngmt their were many of the same priced the same.)Instead of politely going back to check or honoring "the price as marked" his comment was more of a "well its not the right price too bad"He wAs unprofessional ,rude, condescending and from my stand point merely putting on a show for the few customers who were upset about the delay in the line over this. I have been shopping at the Latham,NY Hobby Lobby at least once a week with my 40% off coupon in hand since they opened their doors. The store is always clean and organized. The staff has always been friendly, and there are always great sales going on. I buy items that you can't get at ACMoore and Michaels. One thing I don't like is that they won't honor competitor coupons...but HL regularly rotates their 50% off sales on items I purchase. I am a papercrafter/mixed media hobbyist...so I purchase products from several departments in the store. I'm thinking the people giving such poor ratings for this store are not customers of any crafting stores; but citizens reacting to HL's business practices. Yes, they are closed on Sunday; but I remember when all stores were closed on Sunday. I respect their religious conviction. I may not agree with it...but I respect it. There are six other days to shop. HL's competitor's stores are filled with product made in China, so HL is no different. I go to the competitor's stores in Latham, and ACMoore has turned into a dump..it's dirty and disorganized...and hasn't purchased any new lines of anything that I purchase. I still go in there, though...because they sell the professional artist paint that HL doesn't. I won't be giving ACM a poor rating on YELP, though because of their dumpy appearance. Maybe the problem with ACM is their landlord? or maybe they can't keep loyal employees because of the way they treat their employees? I don't know...and will not judge. Hobby Lobby is terrific! they carry many items that do not exist in average craft store. Namely things that help encourage the young, to the senior in a nursing home. So refreshing to find items that focuses on christian faith craft projects which can help settle a fragile hurting soul. read more
