I desperately needed a fresh pedicure so I headed over to T and T nails hoping to get in some good "me time" after a long week at work. When I walked up to the building I could see that it was an older establishment without all the bells and whistles that I'm used to when getting a Mani/Pedi but it was close by so I gave it a try. I walked in with no appointment at 12:40pm on a Friday afternoon and was seated immediately. They offer 3 options for a pedicure service: a basic ($30), a spa ($38), and a deluxe ($48). I chose the deluxe because I really wanted that relaxing, spa like feel which almost puts you to sleep that I usually receive when I'm getting my feet done. Unfortunately I didn't get that experience this time. Everything just felt rushed and incomplete. The entire process, from the moment I walked through the door up to the moment I sat down to let my polish dry took a little less than 30 minutes. A deluxe pedicure which was supposed to include a sea salt foot soak, nail polish removal, nail trim/cut, a cuticle trim, a heel scrub, mud mask, sugar scrub, foot massage, leg massage, hot towels, and polish application with top coat afterwards should've lasted more than a mere 30 minutes. Now for someone who's in a rush to get in and get out that's great, but I came to really relax and receive a thorough pedicure. Cash payments are encouraged. If you don't have cash, there is a $2 processing fee when you pay with a credit card but they do accept cash app, venmo, and zelle. Hours are Monday-Saturday 10am to 7pm. Walk-ins welcome. read more

Horrible horrible job! I wanted to treat myself while away from my family for Mother's Day. The guy clearly did not use the proper products for my dip layer. I left with dip ALL OVER my cuticles, he did not attempt to remove it. I wished I could add pics. Embarrassing! Luckily I had a sponge file in my hotel room and as I am cleaning up my own cuticles the dip starts rolling OFF! They are bending and rubbery. I am so so upset! Then the workers all got together and yelled in my face and told me that she probably couldn't understand me because I talk too ghetto. Don't give your business to these racist weirdos. A very bad experience and when I was walking out I heard one of them whisper "monkey". Sis was done waxing but missed a few hairs at the corner of my mouth so she asked if it was cool to thread. Of course. Threading is great. Sheeeit; not here tho! Per the reviews, it seemed like this would be a hit-or-miss nail salon, and that it was. It seems like the one gentleman (I'm assuming the owner) has a loyal client base, but the other technicians are there for walk-ins and provide a lesser quality of work. That was my experience, looking at what the one gentleman was doing I would've been pleased to have his work. The guy I had, on the other hand, has shredded my cuticles and my nails are not the shape or length I requested. I re-filed them when I got home, and for $40 I expect to not have to re-do parts myself. I told him I wanted almond shape, as short as possible while still being almond shaped. He said he couldn't do that because he'd already put the acrylic on so he couldn't cut them. But he never asked if i wanted them shorter, so I assumed he would just ask later and then file them down, so maybe that's my fault. But when I asked if he could file them shorter (either by hand or the drill) he said he couldn't do that. He showed proficiency with the file when it came to filing off part of the skin on my finger though. I try not to be critical often, but just be weary that this does seem to be a hit-or-miss place. I got a miss this time. I've not decided if I'll try again for a hit or not. read more

One of the most painful manicures I've ever had. Left with 3 of my fingers cuticles bleeding. They were clearly bleeding through out the process and my nail tech (never got his name) never did/ said anything and continued to file away more of my skin. Not a fan.. 2 stars only because the nails are OK. Definitely not the best set I've had. But went with a friend and called before hand.. they said no wait. We got there and they worked only on my friend for 2 hours. She waited 45 minutes first. I waited 2 hours and 45 minutes until after they finished her nails to do mine. We both got really similar nails with gems, and mine were actually shorter than hers. He told her 75 dollars. After finishing mine and cementing them on, somehow they were 100+. How does the price change after you're already finished? That's so ridiculous and although the nails are cute, I was not planning on paying over 100 just for a set. I normally always tip super generously too, but changing the price is not cool, especially by 25+ dollars. Unprofessional, and made many customers wait an extremely long time. People we're walking out, and as I was finishing, 2 more girls came up to the guy doing my nails and expressed having a similar issue of the price being changed on them. Seems like a scummy way to do business, and I honestly would like to be refunded for the little nail scam business you guys are running over there. First and last experience at T&T nails. read more

These people charged me far more than the listed price for two gel manicure/pedicures and one regular manicure/pedicure. They ripped me off for about $50. I was distracted with my elderly mom starting to feel ill. The bill seemed wrong, but I didn't verify that until after I paid. I was visiting from out of town, and did not have time to confront them. I got nail fungus from the shop and left a review on Google. To add insult to injury, this business replied by accusing me of lying and saying that I must have gotten the fungus from my house instead and told me to see a doctor. What they don't know is that I've seen a doctor and they told me nail fungus comes from nail salons not sanitizing their equipment properly. The doctor even suggested bringing my own equipment. As a discerning New Yorker who used to get a weekly mani-pedi without fail (& for only $25!)- I felt at loss when I first moved to Detroit and began trying to find my nail spot. After trying countless nail salons in the burbs (Studio Nail in RO coming in 2nd place).. I finally found a very simple but marvelous spot right in my own backyard: T&T Nail. And it's a solid $35 for a mani-pedi every single day. David is my nail guy. He's sweet, funny and does a great job! Everyone does a great job though... I'm yet to have a bad experience. The chairs are comfy, plush with pleasant massage functions. There's a couple flat screen TVs playing Law & Orders, cooking shows or some cheesy daytime movie. It's very open and spacious, with clean floors & bathroom. There's a young vietnamese girl (the one with perfect brows) who does fantastic waxing of brows.. and she has the most beautiful lashes! Apparently she does that too! Located in Lafayette Park, T&T is always buzzing. The wait times can be rough- so I go first thing in the AM.. or between 2-5pm on weekdays. read more

I am however a stickler for customer service and the people here were not very friendly and lacked communication skills. When a client comes in 1. Welcome them warmly 2. Tell them next steps 3. My sister and I went on a holiday so that may have changed things but there was a long wait to be assisted. Our nails came out really well. Tia had an amazing attention to detail and Van did a good job as well. Both of them could have been a little more social, however would not say either was rude. Had the most terrible experience this morning to get acrylics removed. Man TORE off my acrylics leaving painful bleeding on my nails, so bad I was yelping in pain as he laughed "almost done". I was mortified by my experience here. I asked if there was a different way to remove them other than him ripping them off and he told me it would take too long. What does that even mean?? He then proceeded to ask me multiple times if I wanted a shellac manicure because regular polish "would be ugly on my nails". I am 1000% never going back here and don't recommend to ANYONE. read more

Very slow service and very poor communication with customers. They only have one person that does eyebrows and she also doubles as a nail tech too. Many people come in looking for tia specifically and she spends over an hour and a half on one persons manicure and nails. You would think that someone coming in to do eyebrows could be done in between someone's pedicure. I only had one day to get my brows down and it's the only reason I waited otherwise never again. A guy named Tony did my nails last month. He did a good job. I went to him again two weeks ago, on a Saturday. By Sunday night my toes started itching and burning. I remembered that he I didn't clean anything after he finished my feet and he used toe dividers that he had pulled out of the mail drawer. The tools he used must have been dirty also, all around my toes had blisters and puss filled lesions. I had to go to the Dr that following Monday. read more

Because it's close to the house I have dropped in before for a quickie service and though I have not been wowed I have never been as disappointed and upset as I am now. I have been sitting here for over an hour WAITING. I signed is as requested when coming in and have tried to wait it out while it seems to be taking 3 people to do one persons nails. There are 4 stations with 4 people working at them but still.... HOUR! 3 people have walked in since I've been here and all been serviced-- why am I still here? At this point I am just waiting to see if they are going to acknowledge me and what they're response is going to be when I bring up this horrible service. I'm not sure if there has been a change in ownership but there has been a change in staffing and it is not for the better.
