Slabtown is an…read moreabsolute 'must' for any burger lovers visiting TC; especially in the summertime when you can sit outside on their porch or surrounding patio. It's an old house that has been transformed into a burger destination. The inside is cramped, especially in the order area when they're busy, and indoor seating is tough to come by at peak times. The service has never been anything short of excellent on our visits. The staff is welcoming, helpful, patient, and friendly. Service is quick, even when they're slammed. Phenomenal burgers, O-rings, tots, and sweet potato fries. The Northwood's DRAFT (not fountain) root beer is a perfect pairing with their burgers. Slabtown's menu of specialty burgers is enormous and the BYO options include different protein choices and excellent GF buns. I've tried many of their burgers, but have to say that the Slabby Patty on a pretzel bun and the Pungi's Pepper Patty really stood out as a couple of my favorites. For a really sinful (and unhealthy) treat, ask for the gravy tots. Oh brother...insanely good but definitely a guilty pleasure. We've sent tons of our friends and family here, and I can tell you that every one of them has thanked us for the recommendation and raved about their burgers. So what are you waiting for? Get yourself to Slabtown!

This is the type of place were you order and pay at the counter and they give you a number and bring the food out to you. Think Culvers if you have been there. I ordered the Cherry Bomb Burger ($17). This is a 1/2 lb cherry burger with bacon, cherry jam, raclette cheese, and aioli. This was an excellent burger. The cherry flavor is not a. overwhelming cherry flavor, more of a side note. You can still taste the quality meat that was cooked perfectly. I upgraded ($5) to the Onion Ring combo. The onions were large and thick with a nice coating on them. Nice and crunchy and very tasty. The service was a mixed bag. The 1st interaction was okay. A little lackluster in the energy. I forgot my coat and I came back n to grab it. It was set by the counter waiting for me. Since I was there I was going to order a shake. However the attendant was too busy having a conversation in the back to serve a customer. Overall a solid 4 star review. The food is probably 5 star, but the service brings it down to a 4. Would I return. Yes, the food is definitely worth a visit.

AMBIANCE & CLEANLINESS: Located in a small strip mall, it's a small space decorated with LOTS of retro/vintage decor. HOSTESS & SERVER: The hostess was also the server. You order at the register and then they seat you at a table (if dinning in). This was a bit odd to us. Also, they add a 20% gratuity for orders $100 or more!!! So for a family of four, you hit that very easily. I DO NOT like when places do this!!! I prefer to tip based on the service I receive rather than be forced into a predetermined tip amount. I always say this is a bad practice for a restaurant! FOOD: This is what we ordered.... The Cowboy Burger -- Taste: was good BUT it wad VERY greasy!! Served with 4 hushpuppies. Size: average. Price: $19.00 (with no side) The Philly Cheesesteak -- Taste: good flavor, nothing to complain about. Size: average. Price: $16.00 (this was a special and had no side) The Big Great Northern Burger -- Taste: had decent flavor but VERY greasy. Served with 4 hushpuppies. Size: average. Price: $16.00 (with no sides) The Big Bacon Racelette -- Taste: good flavor, but VERY greasy. Served with 4 hushpuppies. Size: Average. Price: $17.00 (with no sides) OVERALL THOUGHTS: Server was kind. It's not a big place so it may be a wait if they are busy. Building needs some attention (bathrooms). they add a 20% gratuity for orders $100 or more!!! So for a family of four, you hit that very easily. I prefer to tip based on the service I receive rather than be forced into a predetermined tip amount! WOULD I RETURN? No, even though the food had good flavor it was TOO greasy and the automatic gratuity being added deters me from want to ever return.

When we ordered, the bartender didn't drink which made it hard to know what certain beers taste like, but honestly, no judgement because he did the right thing and offered tastes of beer which was awesome and helpful! So service wise I would say great! The beer tasted really good as well and was decently priced. They had a bourbon barrel stout which was pretty good and newly released. The biggest issue we had was with the food. I ordered the spam sandwich with chips and my wife ordered the chicken quesadilla. While the food was cheap, the quality of the food also seems that way too based off what we ordered. The spam sandwich was supposed to be teriyaki flavored, and didn't get any of that. There wasn't a lot of thousand island dressing on it too, which made the sandwich dry. The chips that were served were clearly out of a bag as they were cold, which made it seem like I could have just gotten a bag myself. I would have paid a few dollars extra to get something fresh like fries. While spam comes from a can and I know this, my wife's chicken quesadilla had chicken that was clearly from a can - it was sopping wet, and the meat was very chunky, and very salty. This made us worry the rest of the food may not be very fresh. While we did have that experience, I will say the pretzel bites were really good and did seem fresh, and they were sourdough! So that was nice. I think this place has very good beer, and a really cool bar setup with a nice stage, arcade machines, and much more. However, I wouldn't come back here for lunch. Instead, I would make food at home. I would highly recommend more fresher options, and I would pay a little more for better quality food.

The slight cherry tang invthe bbq sauce created a very appetizing taste. The wings were cooked perfectly and I highly enjoyed them. I ordered the Pork Chop dinner ($29). This is a local michigan-raised pork with a cherry apple chutney. The pork chop was excellent and the cherry apple chutney was a great addition. It came with mashed potatoes and a cucumber corn medley. They both were very good. North Peak Brewing makes their own Root Beer. Honestly that why I chose to come here. Thankfully the Root Beer was excellent. The service was friendly, but not very efficient. I think they are short staffed because the bar tender was also my waiter and he was busy bartendering! Overall I still rate this a 5 star review. The Wings, Pork Chop, and Root Beer were all excellent and I would return for any of them. So yes I would Return.

I haven't been here for years, and was so happy to see that the menu still had my favorite Monte Cristo and beer cheese soup! Prices are high because it's Traverse City, so that doesn't bother me and you get the soup for 5 bucks when you add it to a meal! Nice! We started with the calamari - small portion, but it was hot and fresh and plenty for 2 people to share. I also had a small house salad, and added white cheddar for $1 (that was a good suggestion from our server Kylie!). The pesto ranch was great too. I love their main IPA, they do a great job, and it is always on the menu (versus seasonal). I love how this place is laid out, there are lots of wooden booths that feel quiet and private. The only reason for taking off a star is the parking. It's incredible that for a large restaurant, they share a small lot with multiple businesses. Everything else is great and you will appreciate the consistency and the spaciousness of this restaurant!
