DO NOT RECOMMEND! Extremely high prices, average work, no receipt, does not itemize the work when giving you a price even if asked. He just gives you an extremely high total amount. In total I paid $183 for hemming suit pants, tapering and opening up a jacket. I had to get tailoring done for a suit. I made a mistake of telling him I needed it for a wedding and his eyes glowed! I tapered and hemmed a suit pant and got a suit jacket opened up. In total it cost $183! He insisted me to pay the price in full in cash before the work was done! He did not provide a receipt and refused to itemize the charges - kept saying it's because it's an urgent request it's high. I DO NOT RECOMMEND! I was referred to here after a place across the street told me that the material of my dress would tear up in their machines. Without hesitation, I ran over to TM Creations which is actually on the third floor of the building- up a stairwell that makes you think you're definitely going the wrong way. But as you get closer- you'll hear his radio and him whistling happily. My dress had very delicate, stretchy fabric- he fitted me over my lunch break (less than 30 minutes)and I picked it up in less than a week- with enough time to make any needed adjustments before the wedding I was attending. He was so friendly and did a great job- the length of the dress was perfect, and the stitching was great. He told me if there are any problems to bring it back, which made me feel confident that he did a good job. It only cost me $35 for a very difficult dress to work with, so I was pleasantly surprised how affordable it was. You have to make a downpayment when you drop off your clothing, but he leaves the amount up to you. I very much recommend TM Creations for any tailoring or alterations. I will be bringing a skirt with a broken zipper to him very soon! read more

2 years later and TM saved me again! My November 29th wedding was fast approaching. I went in for my 4th fitting with Maria (owner of Sabella Couture, now closed) and the dress was literally horrible. I felt as if it was completely ruined and I'd have to find a new dress in just over 1 month. I was almost in tears as I questioned Maria about the bunching happening around my waist and she said "this is just the way it is because of the fabric." Long story short, I took the dress to TM, and he assured me that he'd fix it. There were 5 layers to my dress and he began by accessing each layer to make sure they were all in unison (they weren't). Next, he opened up the sides to relieve the pressure around the waist so he could better access that issue. Maria hadn't left enough fabric to let it back out (which explains why she told me it was this way because of the fabric), so TM very carefully removed fabric from other places and patched the seams at the waist and put it back together. You couldn't even see the piece unless you were analyzing it from an inch away, and the dress now laid flat against my stomach. Another issue: I wanted the gown to begin to flare out at my fingertips. The prior seamstress did this, but it began flaring out about 3" lower on the right side vs the left... also, it flared out more on the left side than it did on the right. TM fixed this too. Long story short, it took about 6 fittings with him to resolve the mess that Maria created, but, by that 6th fitting the dress was exactly as I envisioned it being from day one. He was honest and told me he had never done a bustle. I ended up taking it to Best Fit on Newbury, and the ladies there were also amazing. I went here to have a zipper on a dress replaced/fixed. The owner was totally un attentive. I called him 1.5 weeks later when I still had heard nothing from him, and he said he would call me back after the lunch hour. Of course, he never did. So I called back again, and he was like oh yeah, he couldn't fix it or find a replacement zipper. Um, would have been nice if you had called me instead of me having to hunt you down for a response. I went in today to pick up the dress (un repaired) and the owner had conveniently forgotten about the $10 deposit he had requested when I left the dress. Good thing I had the receipt which noted the $10 deposit. This place may be decent for men's suits but I won't be returning here for any alterations or tailoring and can't recommend it. read more

I have to this this pace the best of the best rating. I came in with a very short time frame for my tux to be fitted and tailored. My jacket was almost 3 times too big for me ( I got it on sale online) and he literally carved a new jacket out of it with keeping the style and elegance. The pants and vest were tailored perfectly! And i think it's important I note that it was my prom and I identify as female. Not once I felt judged or uncomfortable, even when I mentioned my girlfriend and that was something I really appreciated. My outfit did not fit into gender norms and my appearance, what society labels as femme did not match what most think "a lesbian looks like" but through the whole process I felt great about my outfit choice and choice to be open about pieces of my identity. Took me awhile to write this review, but I have not forgotten TM! TM really specializes in custom projects. In 2013 I had found a beautiful, lace, vintage wedding dress for my wedding, but the layer under the cream lace was not the right color. I wanted a cream layer underneath. I searched high and low for a slip or fitted dress that might do the trick, with no success. The wedding date was closer and closer and I realized we were going to have to make something from scratch. I visited a few tailor shops and discussed the project with them. Most thought I was crazy to do something like this so quick, would charge an arm and a leg, or gave me no confidence they would be able to do something to my satisfaction. I found T.M. and he took the time to discuss the project and different options for going about it. I could tell from the conversation he understood the issues and subtleties that would make a difference in the final product, and he was willing to work with me for a reasonable price, so I hired him for the job. I brought him the material, and visited him multiple times as he stitched the underlayer together. It was a pleasure visiting T.M. as he created this piece, and he put up with all my perfectionist concerns with grace, and in the end we had a beautiful piece for my wedding day. He also did some alterations to the lace dress, to bring the sleeves a little more up to date. I needed to be measured for a custom bridesmaid dress. To be safe I chose to be measured by a "professional" The reviews were great for tailoring so I chose to come here. A few things throughout my time at there seemed off I should have went with my better judgement and measured myself and had the dress made twitch those measurements. I was charged $30 and the dress is 2 sizes too big for me mainly on my chest mid section area. There was a list of 15 different measurements, most of them standard. And an explanation next to the ones i was unfamiliar with. Yet the guy who measured me had to read these out loud multiple times to make sure he understood. I thought he was the professional? He told me I was 40 inches around my chest, I thought now way in hell my bra size is a 36 how does that make any sense. If it was an inch off I'd understand. But i got my dress sure enough I looked ridiculous . I was also not provided a receipt. Now I have to get it altered at another $70. This place is a joke. read more

I took four pairs to jeans to T.M. Tailoring near Downtown Crossing. The gentleman who tailored them was able to deconstruct the double seams and re-sew them. Now they look as if they were made to fit me perfectly right from the factory. Previously, I had teken these jeans to another tailor, who attempted to resize the waist by adding two vertical seams in the back. Through this experience, I found that some tailors lack the equipment and expertise to work on jeans. Thankfully, T.M. Tailoring saved the day! Update: By the way, when I mentioned that a tailored item didn't fit perfectly, the owner offered to fix it for free and had it done in less than two hours. read more

Tucked away off busy Winter Street, this one-man shop is a gem. The proprietor is a warm, friendly, wise old tailor who greets you with a smile. I went in without a suit for tailoring, looking for advice on where to look. Over the next week, he kept an eye out for the specific suit I needed for a wedding and gave me a call when he spotted it. He had found me a lightly used Ralph Lauren suit and tailored it to a T. I just bought a new suit over Christmas and plan on popping in to TM's for a fit. Wonderful place. read more

Just got my bridesmaid dress back from TM and he did a GREAT job! I brought it in to him during lunch and was pleasantly surprised to be pinned and fit within a half hour. I gave TM a 3 week deadline- he had it ready for me in 1 week. He did a great job for a good price- typical for the work I had done, but with specialized attention from a talented tailor! He's very friendly as well, which is the icing on the cake. Just a note- it's cash only and he requires a deposit when you drop off your project, but there's an ATM right downstairs. read more

I went to T M for a simple hem for a bridesmaid dress. He measured and said it would range from $60-75 which is insanely expensive for a dress I was giving him almost 3 weeks to hem but thought he would do a good job. He took a $40 deposit (cash only, also let me say whatever amount deposit I wanted to leave which was strange). Unexpected circumstances caused me to have to go in 2 days later and pick up the dress since I was not going to be in Boston to pick it up when it would be ready. Since he had not done anything to the dress, I assumed I would get my deposit back. He said I was being charged $6-7 dollars for a "transaction charge" and then said he didn't think he had enough cash to pay me since there was only $24 dollars in his register. He ended up giving me $20 and keeping the $4 to run his business with no intention to pay me back for the remainder. Extremely unprofessional and a joke. Do not ever recommend. read more

In the beginning of the summer, I lost my trench coat belt. The coat is a pretty common dark khaki color and I wanted a new belt made since it was my favorite coat. I found TM as he worked near my office, and to date, this has been one of the most frustrating and aggravating experiences I have ever had. I had to take the initiative to call TM and ask for progress reports. There was never a single piece of communication on his end to me. Every week it seemed there was a different problem. For example, when it came time to choose a buckle, I asked TM to give me a few choices. The buckles he presented to me were big, metal, and rusty buckles that were more suitable for heavy men's wear than an elegant trench coat. When I told him this was not what I wanted for my belt, he simply shrugged and told me the "pickings were anemic", even having the gall to ask me if I knew what anemic meant (btw, TM if you read this review I go to an Ivy League school and got an 800 on my verbal SATs. Pro tip in general- don't insult an aggravated customer) and asked me to shop around for buckles myself. Excuse me- but aren't I supposed to bring the problems and you the solutions, not vice versa? Perhaps that is not the way TM works. Or perhaps my project was simply not of enough importance to him. Nonetheless, it was a matter of not recognizing sunk costs and not wanting to lose my deposit that I didn't immediately go to someone else. Not wanting to be a bad customer, I offered to just let him do the belt without any buckle- this would literally just be a simple tie khaki cloth belt. It still took him 5 weeks after to finish, something about not having enough material (I'm a size 0 with a 24" waist). At this point, I'm rolling my eyes internally whenever another problem comes up. He quoted 50 on the phone. When I went into his shop to pick it up, of course he conveniently forgot about our conversation and I ended up paying 60 for a simple cloth tie khaki trench coat belt that had literally taken him 3 months. If I hadn't been in a rush to make my train and desperately wanting more than anything to be done with him, I definitely would have argued. Says a lot about a professional who cares more about squeezing $10 from a customer than getting good reviews. Was I fleeced? Absolutely. Never mind the inconvenience and aggravation of having to go to to a decrepit, sketchy, and peeling building and ride a piss- smelling elevator up to see the most frustrating tailor you will ever deal with. Pay attention to the previous reviews and please find someone else. read more

Without getting into the details, I needed a suit for an interview really fast. It was one of those July 4th weekends where the Sunday was the 4th and the Monday was the holiday. A total bummer, man. I went to Macy's downtown on that Friday, hoping I could find a suit that didn't need much alteration, thinking it would be impossible to get the coat adjusted in time for the Tuesday interview. Thanks to T.M., I was wrong. The salesman at Macy's called T.M., and he assessed my choices from the racks, helped me select the best fitting one and then told me he'd have it for me by Monday afternoon at 4. A quick trip to his shop, a few minutes of fitting and I was out of there knowing I would be all set for the interview. T.M. is very personable, accommodating and he does a kick ass job. The suit went from fitting like a sack to fitting me like it was made for me. It even made me look thinner. Once I hit the big time, I'll be going back for something custom from him. read more

I am very surprised there are not many reviews of TMs services. TM has been running this business for over a decade and his clients are solely word of mouth. It may be difficult to find in this Winter street building but you will know you are there when TM is crafting a custom suit or performing alterations while listening to his small radio. I was referred here after purchasing a suit and there is not anyone else I would trust as much as TM. Do yourself a favor, he's close to the financial district, can get things done as fast as you need them, and is as professional as they come. I've gone to this tailor for a few years. Similar to the other reviews, he can be expensive. However, I've kept going back because of the convenience to downtown and he was a nice guy. My advice for those going to use this tailor would be to insist you get the payment expectations of your job in writing and you triple-check with him on any hidden price increases and make sure those are also in writing. In a recent job, the tailor 'adjusted' the price when I went to pick up my dress by nearly 40%. We had multiple conversations on the phone confirming pick up and even going back for a fitting. At no point did he disclose the additional costs. He said he had to pay for a fabric sample and that additional labor was put into the dress but had no proof or back up - no invoices from the fabric store and no support for the additional time put in. Even if all that was true, I did not feel he was honest about it and hoodwinked me day-of instead of being upfront with his customer. On top of that, this was a small alteration and the quality of the work was not up to par. Very disappointing experience. read more

I had a bit of a complicated request since I needed the arms on my jacket shortened, and he replaced the button and you can't even tell it was altered.
