After my dad's passing, Premier Sharp Funeral Home was responsible for managing the cremation of…read morehis remains. My family opted to hold a celebration of life service for my dad at a separate facility. We were told by Premier Sharp that the remains and urn would be available for pick up in time for us to include them in the celebration of life. However, the night before the service we had still not heard back from Premier Sharp. My husband and I called to check on the status and were told that not only would the remains not be ready the next day as promised, but the person with whom we spoke (who identified himself as the funeral home's director) lacked compassion, sympathy, or professionalism. I, who had just lost my father, had to hear this person make excuses for not having the remains ready in time probably because the "ovens" were just back up the the cremation facility. I was shocked and disgusted. It took a significant amount of persuasion from both myself and my husband before the person agreed to contact the cremation facility to get more specifics on when the remains would be ready. While I can certainly understand that things happen and that something unforeseen could have occurred to delay the receipt of my father's remains, it is unacceptable that Premier Sharp did not inform my family that this would be the case. We only found out because we took the initiative ourselves to call the night before. Moreover, the phone conversation with the "director" should have been better on multiple levels. I don't understand how someone who works in this field would not have better skills to communicate with grieving family members. I can't help but think that we received less than quality service and attention because we chose to hold the celebration of life service at a different facility and only utilize Premier Sharp for its cremation services. I give Premier Sharp's two stars instead of one because a different employee called my stepmother the next day to apologize and explain the situation. She was much kinder, more apologetic, and actually empathetic, which did help to improve the situation.

I placed a call very early in the morning. The call was answered promptly. I explained that my premature grandson had just passed away at UT Medical Center. A very gentle and reassuring voice told me what needed to be done by my son in order to have my grandson's tiny body released to Sharp's. The family met with Kirk and he had everything taken care of. He only needed a few details for the necessary documents. When we asked what would be the total cost, we were told nothing. I haven't seen that type of compassion or the commitment to the community before. The relationships that they have with the local cemeteries is an amazing thing. From the beginning to the end, Sharp's makes a heartbreaking time more bearable. I will never be able to find the words to express my never ending gratitude. God Bless you all!
