It would have cost $70,000 per mile to expand fiberoptic cable to the home. Other local satellite companies said it wouldn't be possible to have the necessary line-of-sight to their satellites. Starlink was our last hope. The job was complicated by the fact that we were coordinating the logistics from 500 miles away. The location of the install was challenging - a fairly remote, sparsely populated location with significant tree canopy. Roger helped the whole way through - from guiding us to purchase the proper equipment from Starlink, speaking with an arborist to help us with tree cover issues, and explaining his approach as he performed the work. He used a 5 ft. tripod and an additional 10 ft. pole to mount the Starlink dish on the roof. That gave it enough clearance from the tree canopy to pull in a strong signal. Internet speeds were as fast as 260 Mbps down and 30 Mbps up. This compared to 4 Mbps down and 1 Mbps up with DSL previously. Needless to say, we're quite pleased with this result. Roger is clearly an expert at his craft. He's been in business for 46 years. He also has a great work ethic. He spent a significant amount of time on the roof in 95-degree heat. He didn't stop until the job was done. The cable run into the home was efficient, and he cleaned up impeccably after his work. And he's a nice guy to boot. Worth every penny!

We recently had a service outage, and this was time consuming to handle by phone with Frontier through an overseas poor quality noisy call center static filled connection, eventually to be told that this required an in person visit. There is no in person Frontier office that you can visit in CT. It was clear that this was a Frontier issue, but they told us that we might have to pay for the service visit. I was told that the service rep would arrive the next day, but they do not provide any time windows. (Frontier had initially said that it would be a several day wait, and they only provided the next day service when I insisted.) So I stayed at home all day waiting. We needed our landline (for my business) and internet, and it took all day before they finally arrived (I suspect because I called them again mid afternoon when they had not yet arrived by mid afternoon on a Friday. The call representative I spoke with to find out the status of our situation was rude on the phone. When the representative arrived at 4:15 on Friday afternoon, I overheard the service technician say by phone to a colleague that we had been added on at the last moment). It turned out to be the same service issue that another home near us had experienced, and it was a Frontier issue that was not fully explained to us. I took him about 5 minutes to handle this by hand held computer - cellphone; he did not physically need to address our equipment). After this experience, we cancelled our service. The charge for landline and internet service recently dramatically crept up, and we had in the past had to call them about exceedingly slow speeds at peak usage times. Frontier only allows you to cancel by phone, so, you cannot cancel in-store or online. There are no Frontier stores in CT. So you need to find the proper phone number to call to cancel, and this is not intuitive on their website and the voice menus are not helpful and are time consuming. I eventually found the contact number by typing cancel service into Google. You need to drop off your equipment at a UPS store. This part of the process is not difficult. But you will not receive a notice that the equipment has arrived, so make sure to keep all your documentation. I received in early February an email to pay for the final bill, with the amount owed stated in the email without itemization, and it directed me to our online account to pay. But the online account did not have a final bill. I contacted Frontier by chat to clarify this. They said that I had cancelled as of Feb 1, but I told them that I had called them Jan 8 to cancel. They said that they had no record of that call. They proceeded to provide canned legalese responses by chat to my question about why I did not have the bill on my account after having received the email. They did not address my question and they kept focusing on their restocking charge, that I was not disputing and was not the reason for my call. I eventually gave up on them, signed off, and my question was never answered by them. It appears that Frontier does not prorate their bills, meaning you will pay the full final month even if you cancel at any point in the middle of your billing period. We cancelled on Jan 8, but we were still charged for the full month of January phone and internet service. Even though I had been told when I spoke with the representative by phone on Jan 8 that one of these services would be prorated . Frontier also charges a restocking $50 fee for the router (an old router we had for 7 years). It is hard to dispute things with Frontier because they do not provide confirmatory emails or online account messaging to confirm prior telephone discussions. Days later, the charge finally appeared on my account. I hope that this is my final interaction with them. We now have direct internet access with a different provider at a much lower price, that provides reasonable time windows with text updates for their service visits, and with access to a conveniently located in-person store. We have much better Internet service with our new provider, and we are glad not to have the aggravation of dealing with Frontier Communications. We do not recommend Frontier. Read our experience and beware if you decide to use them.

I've used Ed since an ice storm in 1996 knocked out the phones in my telemarketing center. Ed set…read moreup new lines for us so we were the only ones in our building with service. Another time he ran data lines through abandon pipes under our warehouse so we could connect the buildings without having to add more wires. Ultimately, using the deserted pipes underground, Ed replaced all of our lines with high speed data lines so we ran at over 200 mbps which was unheard of 10 years ago. As the wireless world has evolved, so has Ed's company. We are very data driven and Ed has always stayed ahead of the technology and upgraded us to new software and systems through the years. We were one of the first companies to go totally wireless and this ultimately ended up saving us a lot of money on monthly bills. Ed has done work for us for over 20 years and they always answer the phone, they always send someone right out and they always let us know what our costs will be. They are as fine a vendor as we deal with and I have to add that Ed does a significant amount of work, pro bono, for Hartford homeless shelters and soup kitchens. He has never mentioned that part of his business to us (I'll bet to anyone). He is that kind of man.

There was a new iPad and Apple Watch offer available to anyone who was buying an iPhone (Black Friday special, perhaps?) but after crunching the numbers with my partner (it calls for additional lines and a 3-year contract commitment) we realized it wasn't for us. But Audrene was super patient as we worked it out amongst ourselves. She was also not salty when my kid tracked brownie crumbs all over the store or when we started re-enacting the lift scene from Dirty Dancing in the middle of the store. Case selection was sad and overpriced but I think that's par of for the course.

The Wi-Fi goes into an outage at least once month, sometimes multiple nights in a row...forcing me to drive into work at all hours of the night. I understand the need to update and/or do network maintenance every now and then, but I NEVER dealt with this many instances with Xfinity in all of my years working my job. I pay for the top-teir internet product they offer only to NOT be able to use it when I need to...without ANY maintenance warnings or alerts. I'm beyond disappointed and after, yet another, night in a row that I will be having to drive into the office at 3am, I will be calling in to complain and get my bill reduced. Today is 4/19/23 and they currently have a notice on the site saying the outage may be active until 3/23/23?!?!?! They're AWFUL. 0 out of 10...would NEVER recommend.
