Although we like T-Mobile and their phone product, this specific store was one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had with the company. BEWARE! If you come into the store to trade in a phone and told of a promotion it may not post correctly. Requested some type of confirmation and told it wasn't possible, even the store manager Neill wasn't able to provide any actual proof of the promotion we signed up for. Additionally he seemed annoyed to even be asked for anything aside from his verbal word. It goes without saying the offered promotion didn't post correctly to my account and I had to spend several hours on the phone with customer service fixing the stores mistake. BEWARE! During the sign up/trade in process the agents kept having "technical issues" with their iPads and he had to make multiple attempts to complete the transaction. Each time their iPads automatically select a box indicating you want insurance and marketing promotions. It's a scam... even when you verbally and physically deny both of these, the agents iPads automatically sign you up for both. It's very difficult to remove the non-mandatory insurance and marketing promotions afterwards and we felt very scammed by this nice bait and switch sign up process. I came across T-Mobile's Hawaii Kai location because I was on the island handling some family business, and it just so happened that the company's "T-Mobile Tuesday" weekly event was having an in-store promotion giveaway. I've enjoyed this marketing campaign for several years and have collected a menagerie of branded items that showed my love for the company whom I've been a devoted customer since the early 2000s when Catherine Zeta-Jones reeled me in as my first and only cellular provider and the then very cool Motorola StarTac flip-phone. Certainly, proximity was the main driving force behind this particular brick-and-mortar as it was mere minutes' drive away. Whenever I was in town, would this location fit all of my mobile needs to a tee!? PURCHASE Stadium Seat Cushion (FREE): The company's vivid magenta brand color wrapped this square 1/2"-thick tush padding with a football design. A nice item to show customer appreciation and drive foot traffic into the stores. However, after a few uses, I'd imagine the fluffiness would be nearly gone. PARKING (FREE) Located within the Hawaii Kai Towne Center, there were plenty of stalls - 'nuff said! ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A rather small boxy space fully maximized with a central service counter and all of the various merchandise displayed neatly on pegs and shelves along the walls with some standing displays throughout. As you could imagine, hung on the walls were several advertisements and promotional posters. Plenty of natural lighting came in through the front doors and windows while electric ceiling lights filled in the rest. There were no TVs nor any background music. ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL I honestly didn't have many expectations with Hawaii Kai's T-Mobile location, but what I was able to do and the ease I was able to do it, I had no problem with future visits if necessary. It was a shame they didn't carry an older OtterBox model because I was ready to buy one, but I completely understood why. Although I didn't buy anything, I suspected the prices were consistent across the entire chain except for taxes, and the service was on-point from the three folks I dealt with. With Earth day fast approaching T-Mobile has this Tuesday offer one that many seemed to have flocked over to nab...a reusable cooler bag, I usually dash over our neighboring store for a quick pick up but awesome offers like this seem to fly out fast which it did. I tried a couple other places without luck before I started calling and guess what this Hawaii Kai location still had some left woohoo!!! This giant classic T-Moble pink colored bag is just perfect as the ones I've been using needed replacing really bad so it came in at the perfect time and I'm super excited to show it off. Service was horrible coming from a previous Tmobile employee. I knew exactly what I needed which was a p360 replacement. As a previous employee it is not necessary to scan the customers id and check them into customer welcome however if the customer died not know the name or basis of the account than that is slightly different. I simply explained to the lame ass associate how to do the look up and he goes "you're not gonna tell me how to do my job". As baby boomers, my hubby and I lived in the age of landline phones, pagers, and the clunky, heavy original cellphones when they first came out. Although we are not techie people, we've learned to adapt to the latest in cellphones and their accessories. Thanks to T-Mobile HI Kai who have provided that support to us! Bear in mind that we were with another major carrier for some 37 years straight, mainly because we had a to-go staff person who helped out throughout those years whenever we had issues or questions on travel plans, whether to change to a new phone, billing, or accessories. Then she left the company, and we were forced to deal with any staff person when we walked into various store locations. After countless misinformation and overcharges, we had enough, and we knew it was time to change to another carrier. We heard many positive comments from friends about T-Mobile, as they had significantly increased their cellular network by adding more cell sites and towers in HI. In June 2019, we switched over to T-Mobile by taking advantage of a promotion to upgrade one of our phones to a newer model and are now paying a much lower rate per month for two lines at a senior citizen rate. Kudos go to Courtney, manager of T-Mobile in HI Kai, who patiently explained to us T-Mobile's service plans and helped us to tailor our needs to the best options of getting the right phone and service plans. Courtney went beyond her call of duty, as she helped to back up and transfer all the data, photos, and contacts in my phone to the new phone. She helped to set up the fonts, brightness, and whatever you can think of to make it easier to use my phone. And she even installed the T-Mobile app and the T-Mobile Tuesdays app! She even explained how we could watch Netflix for free! During the course of the year, she was my go-to person if I had any questions or issues with my phone, although there have not been any significant problems. Because of her, I just love my phone! We have been super satisfied with the services of T-Mobile over the past year. We now freely use our phones surfing the Internet here and on the US Mainland, knowing that there is unlimited data; whereas our previous provider restricted us with a maximum amount of memory and would charge us for any overages. T-Mobile's travel plans for foreign countries are very reasonable in cost, including no roaming fees in Mexico or Canada. And we look forward in redeeming cool freebies every Tuesday under T-Mobile Tuesday's app where we have received face masks, baseball caps, water bottles, donuts from Dunkin', ice cream from Baskin-Robins, fried chicken from Popeye's, photo prints from Walgreens, tacos and drinks from Taco Bell, and a flashlight next week, just in time for Halloween! We've had no issues up until tonight. I finally upgraded my 8+ to a 12 pro max. On the day ordered, Craig was amazing Like the other staff have always been. My new phone came by mail and I excitedly went to set it up and transfer the data directly just like Craig instructed. For whatever reason it did not work. So tonight I found some time to finally go down and get some help. From the get-go, Dominique let me know that I was irritating, I was bothering him, and I was stupid. His word choice, his tone, his glaring eyes, his overwhelming sarcasm. How did this individual get hired to be a "mobile expert" and represent this brand?! The cherry on top was when I was gathering my things to leave, he says, " anything else I can help you with?" Knowing full well the answer is no. Then as I am literally walking out the door, he says, " have a nice night!" There was zero sincerity; the passive aggressivity was palpable. The T-Mobile store in Culver City. It was really wonderful. The stuff on their customer service for is not as knowledgeable and as organized it's kind of hit or miss. Let's see it's our first month with them but so far it's nice to be able to have a wireless service that works internationally as you travel. However, we keep getting weird unusual texts, saying that we are hundreds of dollars even though our plan is supposed to be for an additional 50. Hopefully this will get all resolved. read more

I've been to this T-Mobile store located in the Hawaii Kai Towne Center, next to Ramen-Ya and Ross, many times regarding my account, purchasing a new phone, paying my bill, etc. For my recent visits, the customer service has been outstanding. A year ago? Hit or miss. The staff here are honest, friendly, helpful, and go above and beyond. They're definitely not there to cheat you out of money. The only problem here is that they seem to be short-staffed, and it's usually busy, so there's no one to check you in, and you end up just wandering around till you get called, but who came in first? I came here to transfer my data from an old phone to the new phone. The process took longer than what I expected, but the friendly and considerate service made up for it. T-Mobile definitely has the best plans, and no contracts! Plus free Netflix! read more

Went in to this store to buy a phone. First I was told they didn't have in stock nor was their any one the ISLAND, Next I was shown a phone that I was on hold for someone else...I wanted to handle my insurance claim first, so I asked him to hold it for a few more hours while I took care of the claim and I would be back...while he did said It could be sold I took the chance of going back...I understood the chance...but when I returned, I waited 75 minutes to be seen only to be told it was sold....The salesperson who initially helped us watched as we waited for him...In NO way did he even address the fact the item was sold while we were waiting....Poor customer service !! Not to mention that they did not even address the numerous customers/Kupuna who walked in for help....Get to know your customers, you have no problem taking their payments!! my friends iphone se was acting up on Wednesday so we bought a new charger wire from cvs. it still wasn't charging. since we were in the hawaii kai area we went. to the hk store. Kelly helped us and she was great. it took sometime which was understandable and told my friend that if it. doesn't work by the next day to bring it in. sure enough the phone didn't work. the next day we brought it in. Kelly did something to it and lo and behold it worked. my friend was so happy. now she can play tsum tsum and make calls and stuffs. I have been a T-Mobile subscriber for over 10 years, and am quite satisfy with their services, with both cell phone quality and customer service, NOT their marketing direction, however. This review is NOT about T-Mobile's national services or strategies, ONLY specifically for the service I have received at the Hawaii Kai retail store, located in the Hawaii Kai Towne Center. I AM still satisfied with T-Mobile's service to date. I rarely obtained or required service from an agent at a T-Mobile retail store, I have always able to have my issues resolved on the web or over the phone which was great. I have occassionally visite a retail store to get facts about T-Mobile's new rate plans, and test drive new phones. My experience is mostly pleasant, most service agent are courteous and knowledgeable. But one would think you could receive the same quality service at any retail store from the same chain, wrong!!! I went to the Hawaii Kai retail store to swap SIM cards, from a full size SIM card from my aged and dying phone, to a Micro SIM card for a new smart phone I have purchased outright elsewhere. I was told by a T-Mobile agent that this is a FREE service that T-Mobile would provide to their current customers. The agents at this store insisting that this is NOT a FREE service, and will charge $20 for the service. I even asked to speak with the store manager, and got the same answer. When I mentioned about the conversation I had with the agent from another store, the manager told me that this is thier new policy that started a few days ago. Thinking I missed the opportunity of the free service, I went back to the other store where I found out about this service. The agent there made no fuzz about it, and did not charge me a cent, and I did not even have to mention the word FREE. The service was done at the S. Beretania store. The staff there is definitely more knowlegeable and professional. So I was a bit shocked the differences in customer service at different retail stores, especially for long time customer such as myself. If the store would over charge for a free service, I wonder what they would charge for an actual purchase. So always compare prices even between retail stores! read more

Jon is the man!! I would have given this store 1 start if it wasnt for Jon! The week the IPhone 5S was released, I checked in with them to see if I was able to switch from Sprint to Tmobile. Not only did he answer all my questions, he set me up with a new sim card to reserve my IPhone 5S. Pretty remarkable considering no one was taking reservations for the 5S. We later found out that no carrier stores on the island received their shipment of Gold and Silver IPhones.... Long story short, I was given inaccurate information by the Store Manager, Nina who later redeemed herself by hooking us up with Galaxy S3's as loaners until our new IPhones come in (the typical loaner phones are those flip phones, tacky). I hate when I have to walk into TMobile. It's usually super crowded and takes forever. My one exception is this location and I'm so hesitant to write this review because I don't want anyone else to know how great it is here. I live in Aiea but I will come to this location for the friendly service. I used to ask for Natalie but I'm not sure if she moved stores or changed jobs. This past week Katie helped my grandmother out. We wanted to upgrade her outdated smartphone (a hand-me down) to an iPhone 6 plus. Katie was super helpful in explaining all the options to my grandma and the went as far as to transfer all her contacts and photos. The photos had to be sent one by one since her old phone was ancient. We never felt rushed or pushed out the door while we were there. Honestly I usually hate the upgrading cell phone experience. It usually takes forever and gives me a migraine by the end of it. That being said I think this was the best experience I've ever had at a store. The guy that helped me actually made the process quick and easy while still explaining all of the important information. Whenever I was annoyed by an outcome (none of which were his fault it was a t-mobile company thing) he made it up to me with customer service. He also gave useful insight on what phone to choose based on my needs and was very patient with me. Then after I received my new phone I called the store to ask how to ship my phone back (because I wasn't given a shipping label in my package) the woman I spoke with gave me multiple options AND she offered to do it for me if I came in. Customer service is great, and they were able to fix some of the problems I was having with not getting coverage at my house by sending me a signal booster for free, but just not happy with the coverage or overall services. My phone drops calls at my house, on the way to work, at work, all over the island, so after a month I'm going back to Verizon. They also had a problem when they brought my numbers over from verizon, so I was never able to to setup my My T-mobile or T-mobile Tuesday, also couldn't get the Netflix for free discount because I couldn't set up my account through T-mobile. It said my T-mobile phone number wasn't recognized. read more

Horrible customer service. 1) Walked in with a less than one year old Samsung Galaxy J7, told them it wouldn't work, their response "Contact Samsung." WTF, T-Mobile sold me the phone. I couldn't wait for Samsung, so purchased another phone $$$$$ (which was probably T-Mobile's goal the moment I walked in the door, and not to help me with my old phone). 2) Called corporate T-Mobile, from the Hawaii Kai Store 1997 on my new expensive phone, and was told "your old phone is under warranty." Now, why didn't the store tell me that. What's more, my new phone battery was low but the store wouldn't let me plug into an outlet. I had to go outside and into the men's room to plug-in, and continue my phone call to Corporate. I ask you, what kind of cell phone store "doesn't have any outlets?" 3) Was now told I could replace old phone, under warranty apparently, but had to wait 7 business days. WTF, who can be without a phone for 7 days? and "why can't I have one of the Samsung Galaxy J7 phones in the store?" 4) Back on the phone to Corporate...on the expensive new phone...calling from the Hawaii Kai Town Center men's room: it's almost funny, if by this point I wasn't so frustrated with the complete lack of customer service by T-Mobile store 1997 in Hawaii Kai. Don't go into this store. Just as another reviewer said "they are trying to pull a fast one". I've been a satisfied T-Mobile customer for years and when the rep was acting strangely, not really answering my questions and wanting to sell me another sim chip when I already had one that I bought with my tablet I got suspicious. He and his co-worker insisted that I would be charged an "activation fee" for adding a tablet to my plan. I just told him I was taking my chip and would find help elsewhere. He and his co-worker made no effort to convince me my suspicions were wrong and just let me leave. Well, after having a short helpful phone conversation with T-Mobile I now have a tablet on my plan, no activation fee, no buying a new sim chip. This place must be a franchise because they do not operate like other T-mobile stores I've been to. I came here to upgrade a line and was charged a "standard $20 activation fee" and was told it was because of the clerks having to help you set up a new iPhone. However, I took the phone home to set up myself and did not receive any help from the sales clerk. I was told I would receive a credit after he talked to his manager... yeah right! Never heard back or saw a credit at all. I would recommend going to Kahala or even the costco kiosk to get better customer service and help. read more

Extremely disappointing series of experiences around one continuing issue. Staff, though well-meaning, are not always very knowledgable about their job basics leading to repeat visits and hours of wasted time and angst - in our case this issue went unsolved for a month. To be fair we were offered a discount for our trouble but not nearly enough to compensate for the time & trouble. Between my wife and I we spent 10+ hours in the store resolving the problem and went through two replacement phones (each shipped from the mainland), all experienced the same issue. Nina (STR MGR), Skye, Jason, Kai, Daniel, and the whole staff were extremely helpful, knowledgable, patient, and friendly which made the JUMP the most pleasant experience in dealing w/ cell phone stores.
