Efficient and friendly kayak rentals for individuals or groups. Easy access to the clear Wakulla river right at the boat ramp. Good couple hours of exercise to paddle upstream, with views of turtles, small gators, and a couple manatees along the way. Then paddle downstream with current helping back to the base. Good warm day activity, not buggy at all. Only downside is there's not really any place to stop along the river...all docks are private and not any beach areas to pull out, and just a porta-potty at the upper landing ramp. Bring your own water but don't leave any waste behind...keep the river clean! read more

Wonderful!! July 2 was our trip- we called ahead of times and made reservations for 11:30, for 6 people, got 3 kayaks for 2 people each. Check in was a breeze! Fast, concise- only 1 person per group goes up and signs the papers for the kids, every adult must sign also, off we went.. easy 6 miles one way, saw manatees, otters, alligators, turtles..I'm from FL so for me none of those are a big deal but it's beautiful nature scenery! U don't wanna do all 6 miles? That's fine!!! Do as much as u can.. u will ALWAYS see something, relax and will enjoy. One of the funnest and most interesting experiences I have ever had. My friend was visiting for the weekend and so I looked for something unique and cool to do. I heard that canoeing and kayaking is very popular in Tallahassee so a quick google search led me to T-n-T Hide-A-Way. Down to Wakulla we went and for a few hours enjoyed the summer day! We rented a canoe for 4 hours for $35. It was a pretty good deal and the staff was very friendly. I was even allowed to bring my little dog on for the ride with us. That made it for an even better experience. The route goes through the river and at the end there is a bridge where you know to turn around. It takes about 1.5 hours to go upstream and my muscles were in pain! Still super fun time! At the end we had a mini picnic on the canoe while eating snacks. Then we headed back down to the beginning which only took about an hour since the current was pushing us. Wakulla river is pretty cool because there are Manatees swimming around! Yes you read that right, MANATEES! Huge water creatures beneath you. We saw a good amount the whole time. Can't forget about the many turtles, fishes, and birds everywhere too. I recommend going early in the morning to avoid crowds and the hot sun. Other people bring booze or drive their own boats down the river. I would definitely do this again every time somebody visits me. Good prices and a fun experience. read more

Very pleasant paddle down the river! We booked a short trip with my 5 year old daughter in tow to start to introduce her to paddling and see if she had the patience for it. What a great decision! We rented a couple tandem and one solo kayak and arrived on a grey, drizzly day. TNT has nice kayaks that perform well. They are friendly and knowledgeable and were very helpful in getting us outfitted and on the water. The float was very pleasant and a small group of manatee swam right up to my kayak with a juvenile being particularly curious and coming right up to the boat multiple times, to the delight of my daughter. The standard trip is a little short. We finished in about an hour and twenty minutes, but we also did not stop along the way. This worked great for what we wanted, though, since we were trying to figure out if my daughter would be up for longer trips. Just a great little facility and a really nice group of people. I would not hesitate to recommend them! =) read more

Great local place to rent a kayak and experience the beautiful river. You will see manatee, turtles, etc. etc. Prices are reasonable. They have good equipment and plenty of parking , so if you have guests coming in make a day of it they will love it. read more

I came to Tallahassee with my son for the weekend. He wanted to go to a gaming convention. So I figured I would take some time and go kayaking. And I am so glad I did. Great experience !! The first half of your trip will be more challenging because you'll be paddling upstream against the current. You probably won't see a whole lot...however, on the way back you'll be rewarded because you'll be riding with the current and you'll have an excellent opportunity to see some MANATEE along with beautiful birds and lots of turtles. My only suggestion is to be sure to ask as many questions as possible. The staff are nice, but they are not very talkative and don't offer many pointers unless you ask. Having said that, totally worth it, reasonably priced and a wonderful day. read more

This was a fantastic river trip. We were with Tommy who was a spectacular guide who knew the river well. We were in a large group and we had a great time. Even the kill-joy ladies could not kill our vibe, we had such a great time. We went down the Wakulla river and saw plenty of alligators and some manatees. DO NOT BE AFRAID OF THE GATORS, they did not bother us and we did not bother them. I would suggest to anyone in the area to do and make sure to ask for Tommy because he was such a great guide! read more

This is a great canoe and kayak rental livery on the beautiful Wakulla River. The folks are friendly and helpful and rental rates are quite reasonable. They open at 9 am on Saturday and we had the river to ourselves for 1-2 hours then it got busy for the the first warm Saturday in several months. Saw 3 manatees, lots of other wildlife too. Some loud stinky fume motorboats on the river but most were courteous to pass without a wake. read more

Nice small shop, very easy to get to. Ask about all the boats they have, not just what they offer at first. Especially the Native Ultimate 14 with the best seat in the biz. Manatees are prevalent in these clear waters, ask other boaters where to find them. My fam thoroughly enjoyed the paddle. read more

What a great experience! I flew in from NY to visit a friend in GA and she suggested we spend the day kayaking. I have never kayaked before so I thought it would be an adventure. TnT did not disappoint. The staff was very helpful getting us all suited up for our trip. One of the girls I was with even got caught in the strong current going the wrong way and they rescued her and set us off on a wild ride. We saw an alligator and some turtles no manatees :( We got the halfway point and were tired, but we kept going in hope of a chance to see one. The boaters along the river were very courteous. We asked another couple if they had seen manatees and they said they did by the bridge we were suppose to turn around at. 15-20 minutes later we still had not reached the bridge and a local along the river said it would be another 20 minutes. We were exhausted by then so we turned around. We were only out on the kayaks for 3 out of the 4 hours. It was a lot of fun and next time I will make a point of going to the bridge and fingers crossed the manatee will be there! read more

I visited T n T Hideaway last week with my son and his girlfriend. We rented a three-person canoe for four hours. Before we set out, I asked the proprietress my probably silly questions about the danger of alligators. She allayed my fears by explaining exactly what to do if an encounter took place. I was very grateful for this mini-education! As we paddled up the river we saw all sorts of wildlife including great egrets, anhingas, many turtles sunning themselves on logs, and the dreaded alligators! As I had been told, alligators don't much care for human activity, so they left us alone. But, I was a bit anxious as I watched two very large gators slide into the water not too far from our canoe (one appeared about eight feet long!). The most exciting portion of our adventure occurred when we spotted a mother and baby manatee! They swam near us, and then right under our canoe! We were all thrilled to have been able to see such beautiful creatures up so close. They continued visiting with us a while before swimming off. I think we all came away from that experience with a new appreciation for Florida wildlife. I can't wait to visit again! read more

Great location, shaded parking, and beautiful river trip. Upon checking in, the guy answered any questions I had. Then, when we received our rentals and were loading up, the guy helping with that was SUPER helpful, very friendly and knowledgeable. (I actually planned on tipping him on our return, but..) We had a great trip..until we got back. Immediately upon pulling up the old lady working first said to my friend, "you're late." When he made the reservation, he asked how much it would be for a 5 or 6 hour trip (since, for some reason, they only like to rent out in 4 hour increments) and the same lady told him only $10/hour extra. He was not late, he just chose to stay out for an extra. If this weren't bad enough, she then turned to me (on my own board) and asked if I had paid. I informed her that yes, I had paid for myself and my friend, as we each had brought our own boards and paid the $5 launch fee. She said, and I QUOTE, "Well that's funny, because you paid $10 and our register drawer is $10 short." !??!?? So I politely responded, "well I'm sorry, don't know what to tell you, but we all paid, as you can see from our signatures where we all had to sign in." She continued with snarky, sarcastic responses, continuing to imply that we some how didn't pay our 10 measly dollars. I left it at "well, you should probably take that up with your employee working the drawer, and not your customers." Still, no apologies, just rude comments. It's unfortunate that we came upon this unprofessional, rude, senile old lady at the end of our trip, (who I can only imagine is the owner, as any other business manager would fire this type of employee immediately) as the people and experiences we had all had that day were wonderful. read more

I have always used TNT and never had a problem, but I will not be going back after today. They do have a great location on a beautiful river. The rentals are overpriced ($40 each), but comparable with those in the area. My aunt and her two kids from WA came and we rented 2 tandem kayaks. We came at 4 pm, and they closed at 5. We assured them we'd be back in time. We ended up going farther than we realized and it took more time getting back. I felt horrible and paddled feverishly to get back. The owner was outside and yelled at us for being 25 minutes late. She told my nephew to "get out" of the boat and said she was "so pissed." Her "grandson had missed baseball practice." She then charged us a $20 late fee which I quickly paid. She told me if my check bounced she would "be turning me in to collections." My aunt had fallen behind being an unskilled kayaker. She was rude and told my aunt I had paid "her" late fee. (completely unneccessary) I understand that we were late, I felt horrible and was very apologetic. But I also work in an industry that is client based. You have to allow for overtime and closing. It's just the way business goes. Their business is to rent kayaks, where they make a killing at a low stress job. I paid $100 for an hour and a half. She handled the situation completely unprofessionally and treated us like children; not paying patrons to her business. I will never go back. read more

A beautiful location, boats and life jackets well maintained. Customer service--not so great. We came out in the only time we had, arriving around 4 p.m. on a weekday, leaving us an hour to kayak before they closed at 5. We were charged the rate for a 4 hour rental for both kayaks ($40! why not $10 for the one hour?), then when we returned late, were charged a late fee we had not been informed of previously, as well as being treated really coldly, which really made for a bad experience (though i have great memories of the scenery). If they were so inflexible about people getting back before closing, they should close rentals an hour or two before the shop does. In addition, they were closing at 5, on a beautiful day--you'd think they'd stay open till closer to dark so people could come out after work on nice days. Maybe it depends on who's working that day, but this woman spoiled it for us. We'll try another place next time. read more
