The music and songs (mainly the group ones) seem have a similar volume to concerts. The lines (non music parts) were understandable. In terms of seating, I would pick the elevated levels (dress or balcony) compared to the (back) orchestra. Entering was straight forward. They don't really check bags. They may check larger bags like backpacks. You can bring and fill empty clear plastic water bottle at the bar (on the 2nd floor). Drinks, snacks and popcorn are your typical staples and are priced similar to other venues.

We caught several broadway shows at this vast venue, including Peter Pan. We were impressed by the aerial lifts, dynamic backdrop and the swift Tinker Bell glow. The modern special effects of the show are a neat contrast to the 1920s architectural styles and decor of the historic building. The theatre has been kept in pristine condition, and the seats are comfortable. The foyer can hold a packed crowd during intermission, and features a grand staircase & concessions. Note the current theatre name is CAA Ed Mirvish Theatre but be careful not to mix this up with Mirvish's other CAA Theatre that is 20 minutes walk north. Glad we made it ahead of showtime in spite of this!

We loved every minute of it. They have QR codes you can scan to hear the music to accompany the art (so bring your phone). The only room for improvement would be to put the QR codes to the left of the art pieces so you can listen to it while you're passing by the art connected with the music). The artist did such a beautiful job! So many details and it was so neat to see places you have passed a million times made of paper. The kaleidoscopes were very pretty and a fun touch. I have been to the theatre with colleagues during a conference, with my sister, and with other family members over the last several years. I have sat in the balcony, front couple of rows, and further back in orchestra before, and every seat seems to be good. I often take advantage of the American Express reserved seat program to purchase a great seat not too far in advance once I have details of my travels. I have been completely satisfied with my experiences at the shows there! The Royal Alexandra Theatre is a Canadian historic landmark as the oldest continuously operating legitimate theatre in North America and the continent's first truly "royal" theatre, granted official letters patent by Edward VII entitling it to the royal designation, along with his permission to name it after his consort, Alexandra. It was built in 1907 and was Toronto's first steel-framed structure, one of the first air-conditioned buildings in the continent, and the first theatre to be considered fireproof. The Royal Alexandra Theatre is one of four theatres that is run by Mirvish. The facility is mask-friendly but by no means required. There are concessions and a coat check. It is generally accepted to arrive approximately 30 minutes before a show. If you arrive late, you may need to wait until an appropriate break in the show for you to go to your seat and not disturb other patrons. I've been trying to get into seeing more theater lately, and my visit has only confirmed my thirst…read more It had been about a decade since I visited to see Peter Pan, which I had recalled mostly fondly, so I texted a friend and bought tickets for the show. We arrived about half an hour early after stopping at Lake Effect for scoops. Who needs dinner and a show when tummy ice cream is involved? The theater also sells snacks as food and drinks from the outside are banned. We were greeted outside by a dapper gentleman who held the door for us to get into the lobby. Unlike other theaters, there was elbow room to have them check out printed tickets and make conversation about the show. Others had digital tickets that seemed to work as well. We popped into the loo, which thankfully had multiple stalls, hardly any wait and was fully stocked with soap and towels. There were people selling souvenir toys and raffle tickets that we bypassed to find our seats. The playbill girl gave us a rough estimate of where we would be located. Thankfully everything is clearly labeled as to not get lost. For a mere 40 each, after fees, we were five rows back, centered. The view was clear, the sound was clear and the leg room- my gosh. For the first time in a long time a theater had room for me to stretch my legs a bit instead of cramming in more seats. The view is historically gorgeous in architecture and paint. Though we were there to experience the show, not just a building. The show started on time, held a brief intermission and concluded in about two hours. During that time, we got wowed by talented singers, very acrobatic dancers and mostly talented actors. (There was one that we would have probably chosen a different person to portray the roll, but I'm not going to crush a child's dreams when they did adequately. And others filled their rolls amazingly so I'm chalking it up to personal preference.) The costumes are well constructed without being extravagant. Tiny shorts cover any areas that would make this child friendly show receive an R rating. At the end, after all the standing ovations, we were able to exit with ease and get back to the car, parked at no cost in a nearby lot. Beat that Buffalo parking. Extra shout-out to whoever put the dual drummers in the loge to let us see the masterminds at work. They were the heartbeat of the show for me!

I have read some other reviews first I would like to remind people it is in a barn literally and if you actually take the time to look at the structure while eating dinner it is very impressive - on a farm I can't validate this but assume its a well. As clean as we are at our cottage well water usually has mineral residual in it. That being said it is a group of actors and actresses - small theatre. Let your judgement go and just have fun, it funny and entertaining and a great opportunity to get out of the house for a night. Will definitely do it again.
