I've been trying to get into seeing more theater lately, and my visit has only confirmed my thirst. It had been about a decade since I visited to see Peter Pan, which I had recalled mostly fondly, so I texted a friend and bought tickets for the show. We arrived about half an hour early after stopping at Lake Effect for scoops. Who needs dinner and a show when tummy ice cream is involved? The theater also sells snacks as food and drinks from the outside are banned. We were greeted outside by a dapper gentleman who held the door for us to get into the lobby. Unlike other theaters, there was elbow room to have them check out printed tickets and make conversation about the show. Others had digital tickets that seemed to work as well. We popped into the loo, which thankfully had multiple stalls, hardly any wait and was fully stocked with soap and towels. There were people selling souvenir toys and raffle tickets that we bypassed to find our seats. The playbill girl gave us a rough estimate of where we would be located. Thankfully everything is clearly labeled as to not get lost. For a mere 40 each, after fees, we were five rows back, centered. The view was clear, the sound was clear and the leg room- my gosh. For the first time in a long time a theater had room for me to stretch my legs a bit instead of cramming in more seats. The view is historically gorgeous in architecture and paint. Though we were there to experience the show, not just a building. The show started on time, held a brief intermission and concluded in about two hours. During that time, we got wowed by talented singers, very acrobatic dancers and mostly talented actors. (There was one that we would have probably chosen a different person to portray the roll, but I'm not going to crush a child's dreams when they did adequately. And others filled their rolls amazingly so I'm chalking it up to personal preference.) The costumes are well constructed without being extravagant. Tiny shorts cover any areas that would make this child friendly show receive an R rating. At the end, after all the standing ovations, we were able to exit with ease and get back to the car, parked at no cost in a nearby lot. Beat that Buffalo parking. Extra shout-out to whoever put the dual drummers in the loge to let us see the masterminds at work. They were the heartbeat of the show for me! read more

Great theater that is kept up well! There is not a bad seat in the house and concessions are not ridiculously priced. We saw Sister Act and the show was the same level as any show you'd see at Shea's for a fraction of the cost! The bathrooms were clean and the staff was friendly... When we walked in, we even had an older gentleman dressed in "old timey" clothes holding the door and welcoming us. I highly recommend seeing a show at the Palace! read more

This review is on the 1776 The Musical Concert April 2026. I was disappointed in the musical. The actors were wonderful, but I was expecting an emphasis on celebrating America's 250 Birthday. Instead there were swear words and sexual references. I brought my grandson to this musical. I thought there would be patriotic music, like our National Anthem etc. They made the history of our founders a joke, instead of honoring our great country. I am a veteran of the US Navy and I thank God everyday for this great country. I think they missed the mark on this one. Was here for a dance recital Theatre is very nice inside and clean. The sound system is amazing. Here are my issues it was very warm inside the theatre to the point where most everyone had a bead of sweat on their brows. I spoke with an attendant who said it takes awhile for the building to cool down - well should have addressed this sooner so the theatre was cool. Also the lines for concessions are all over the place making it very difficult to walk around and get either beer,wine or snacks. Crowd control posts would alleviate this problem. Also the bathroom was a mess with paper overflowing out of the waste basket. Overall the theatre is pretty nice - just needs a bit more management. Plenty of free parking on side streets and lots. read more

This is a beautiful venue. I've seen many musicals here and will always come back for more! All of the actors are amazing and the sound is incredible. The seats are very comfortable, and the sets are very nice. This makes for a great night, or afternoon out! read more

Wonderful historic theater that puts on live performances that rival anything that comes out of Buffalo.

My husband and I saw a movie here tonight. As a playhouse, this venue is excellent. As a movie theater, it obviously can't compete with modern cinemas equipped with stadium seating, extra wide screens and all the other fancy amenities, but it gets the job done, especially if you want something with a more old time feel. I was impressed with the sound system. Tickets were $10. Concessions were reasonable. There is balcony seating but I think that's reserved for plays. It wasn't open for the movie. They don't sell movie tickets until an hour before showtime and they say they seat 1000 so there's no need to rush. read more

Full Disclosure: My wife and daughter were members of the cast in the most recent show I saw, Scrooge: The Musical. I have now been to three separate performances at the Palace Theatre, and all three have been well done, especially for the price. The theatre is large with amazing architecture. They have a concession stand in the lobby area where you can purchase drinks and snacks for very reasonable prices and the employees are cheerful and very helpful. The main reason for the lack of five stars is that the building is in need of some renovations. Parts of the ceiling were damaged and clearly in need of repair, and the seating is reminiscent of the barely tolerable folding seats of a high school auditorium, only with more leg room. I truly hope they find the capital to update the theatre, but if not, the performances here are still a good time. read more

I've seen two shows at this theater in the past year because a friend was in them. Both were targeted towards younger audiences so it's good to bring the kids. If you do, aisle seats on the sides are perfect for great viewing. Tickets can be purchased online on their website in advance. You can print them out at home. This theater has the most legroom I have ever seen. It's almost too much! I believe they are remodeling soon so that might go away. There's a concession stand when you first enter with lots of choices. The food is reasonably priced so you can plan on buying snacks for your show. I like taking my young nephew here and he enjoys the shows too! Bring the kids! read more

Stink. Stank. Stunk. (DON'T BUY THE GROUPON!!!) Last night about 100 people, my wife and I included, purchased a Groupon deal for the Historic Palace to see "Scrooge The Musical". They had us all packed like frozen penguins in the main lobby waiting for our tickets that we had already paid for with the Groupon deal. The Groupon line never moved, but the theater, knowing it was going to sell out of seating, kept selling tickets. So there we all sat, many of whom had braved the cold, driven many miles, hired babysitters, etc., thinking that they we're going to get to see a show that had already been paid for... Once the theater officially sold out of regular seating, they finally came and delivered a message to all of us waiting. They told us, "The show has sold out for the evening, but if you have a Groupon, you can come back tomorrow afternoon to use it." When asked what we should do if we couldn't come back tomorrow, the person said, "Take it up with wherever you bought you Groupon from to get your money back then." Then they turned us all away. No apologies for their blunder either. Very unprofessional. Definitely won't be supporting this theater again for the way it treated it's customers. Bah-Humbug. read more

The Chalice from the Palace I can't say enough about Palace Theatre the. Its' so beautiful inside you'll plotz. If you know the Riveria in North Tonawanda, than you have an idea of what the Palace is like, only not quite so far along in its renovations. The seats are comfty and the snacks are yummy. Popcorn and soda and Milk Dudes and Twizzlers and pop and Milky Ways. And others to numerus to remember. There latest renos were on the bathrooms, but I havent seen them yet because I dont like to "go" in public. Let me know what you think when you do! PROS: Lots of good plays and things! Went and checked out Curtain Up's production of "Wizard of Oz" last month and it was very well done!... Again, I am not a huge play lover but I would definitely consider checking out another production at the Palace in the future. read more

Wow - what an amazing space. The entryway and lobby are beautiful; the theater itself is beautiful; the chandelier in the lobby gets its own special mention as beautiful. When you think about local spaces that are filled with the kind of character that you lose in commercialized, chain spaces - this is it. Whether you're there for a movie, a play, a Music in the Night performance...this is a theatre worth seeing. read more

The Palace is a classic Lockport institution. It is a beautiful theatre that has been undergoing renovations for several years now. The artwork on the ceiling is worth the trip alone. I have been going to the Palace since I was a child in the 80s when it only cost $1 to see ET or Back to the Future. It was very nostalgic coming to see the new Star Wars movie here last week. They have done much work to update the theater. Tickets are only $10 and the snack bar prices seemed a little cheaper than most places too. My only complaint are the chairs which are definitely in need of replacement. The chairs seem to be the same ones I was sitting in watching ET and Elliott ride the bike across the sky in '82. The good news is that they have removed every other row of seats so there is plenty of leg room. Also, not many people seem to come so there were plenty of good seats available. Do yourself a favor, avoid the long drive down Transit, and give the Palace a try for old times sake. read more

Attended the Anniversary dinner theater at the Palace theater. Mark Twain Live, with Mike Randal.l The food was catered by Mericana (http://www.mericana-ny.com/) When I bought the tickets I assumed the show would be at the restaurant. NO! It was on stage at the theater. The stage was set with long tables seating 8 at each table. After a champagne reception and hors devours of cheese, crackers, dips, and fruit, we started with a crab cake on dressed greens, followed by a filet on mashed potatoes and julienned vegetables. Very good, perfect portion. Each table had two bottles each of red and white wine. As I know nothing about wine, I can't comment on them, except that they were local wines. After the entree, the show began. Mark Twain walked between the tables. The show is funny in a cute sort of way, Mike Randall was quite engaging. He took a break and we had a crustless cheesecake topped with a balsamic reduction, strawberries and pistachios...YUMYUMYUM. Then Mr. Twain came back and finished the show. One of the most enjoyable parts of the evening for us was sitting next the actor who portrayed Gomez Addams in their production of the Addams Family! The entire event made us very eager to buy season tickets for the fall. read more

Every year we have our wny challanger sports christmas party here. we get to sit and watch a movie and enjoy pizza and popcorn we like it. There are some shows i would love to see but know i couldnt sit still for more then 10 to 15 min at a time to see one there. read more

What a wonderful asset for Lockport and the regional area - we are visiting from California for a high school reunion and went to see "All Shook Up" last night. The show was incredible - if you missed it, you really lost out. I haven't seen a show in a very long time that makes you want to get up and sing and dance with the cast (don't worry - I have no talent in either) - not only was the show excellent but the up coming season schedule makes we sorry we don't live closer. The theater itself is an incredible piece of history - they have removed every other row of seats so the seating is super comfortable, plenty of restrooms, great concession stand and they have preserved a lot of the history of the theatre. The sound system and lighting was excellent and they had a live orchestra that was a seamless part of the show - not overpowering the singers. Great sets and we didn't see the Director but Kudos to him or her. We will definitely come back next time we're in town. read more
