Called to withdraw my investment funds. Mathew got me squared away with a simple straight forward approach using their website. My only issue was at the end of the call I was suggested to call this number 800-532-4000 to let them know I submitted a withdrawal and that this would speed up my request time. Upon calling the number a lady named Jessica answered the phone and before asking me anything proceeded to try to convince me to buy some life saving retirement device I should wear around my neck incase I fall (I'm 27 btw). I said "Perhaps I've dialed the wrong number" to which she responded "Thats ok this device is suitable for any one and we're running a promotion" Her tone reminded me of an automated system so naturally I assumed it was not a real person I asked if she was real and I was disconnected. I called T.RowePrice back and they told me the number was accurate and to skip past the automations (I did this to start with) She also told me the company was called NBS Judiciary. I did some google searching and was not able to find any website or company with that name or number. I also called the number back and was told calls from my area was not accepted? I called multiple times with the same automated response of "Calls from your area are not accepted" and was instantly disconnected. I then called one last time and got an answer telling me to press 9 for a menu. I pressed 9 and was transferred to a direct tv automated response. To me this is massively suspicious and very scammy. Why T.RowePrice employees are directing individuals to this very unprofessional and suspicious "company number" is beyond me, but it's a terrible look. These are the people supposedly in charge of approving my investment withdrawal request? Lastly I will add that according to T.RowePrice employee's calling this number is not necessary to receive your funds but it is highly suggested to receive your funds quicker... Overall this has been a pretty ridiculous experience and I would not recommend either company to anyone. Would leave 0 stars if possible. My employer uses this company for our 401ks. Both the application and the website do not allow you to actually view your account performance over time. For example, the site and app are both currently telling me that I have a positive return since inception. However, my vested balance in the account has gone down! Across all of my investment accounts, I have never encountered a company which does not allow you to view the performance of your investments accurately over time. To me, this is super suspicious and sketchy. In addition to not being able to find accurate data on my investments (literally the primary concern when it comes to retirement investments!), their website is full of bugs! I have not once used this site without having glitching issues etc. If this were not my employer 401k company, I would be certain it was a scam. The customer service representatives I have spoken with are for the most part kind, however the customer service line itself is poorly configured. I was a customer for several years, fund returns were OK, not great. When I discovered an error on my statement, the phone reps were not able to resolve it, so I asked to speak with a manager. I was told on 4 or 5 different occasions that a manager would phone me. Never received a call, so I closed my account and transferred my assets. I asked to close my account that I have had probably over 20 years. I asked to send it to my bank on file. The answer was no. They said the only current option was to mail it. I asked how they would mail it ; UPS, FedEx ... the answer was again no. USPS was the only option. I was shocked. I asked if it was sent registered or certified. The answer was neither. They were going to drop a check for my entire life savings in the mail with no tracking or anything. Horrendous customer service - you can never get through to anyone on the phone. It is like they are a company to test and improve your patience limits and not improve your finances. After a long hold with terrible music, you either get put on hold again within the first 2 seconds or the person you have cannot provide answers to the simplest of questions about their system, forms, or activities. Run with your money and go to one of the other financial / investment institutions. They must be giving big big discounts to state college savings funds and employers to be the chosen ones as that is how I got stuck with them. If I could give zero stars, I would. I have been trying for 2 weeks to access my funds. Four faxes were sent. According to them, each one was missing the signature page. I did a rollover of my employers 401k to Schwab since I am retired and the nightmare began. They have very restrictive rules that border on recklessness. My plan did not allow to wire money directly to Schwab and the check needed to be MAILED to my home address. I had to wait since I am a snowbird to go to my home in South Carolina. The place that mails the check is located in FLORIDA near the hurricane zone. They did not allow me to drive to Florida to pick the check up. I requested the check on a Friday. The website did not allow for rush shipment so it was supposed to be mailed from Florida with NO tracking. Ten days later and a 10% increase in the DOW, I received my check at 5pm after the FedEx cutoff for overnight if I drove there. Because I am in a relatively small town they could not deliver the check until 3 days later. I understand Milton devastated the area but there was no plan B to mail a check out of an alternate location like their home office in Baltimore. So I'm out over $50,000 in earnings from the unnecessary wait because of their ineptitude. If you are a company I strongly recommend not using T Rowe Price for your retirement plan and I hope they make the ability to wire 401k rollovers like other companies do. read more

The worst customer service of any financial institution I have ever dealt with. I have three 529 plans for three grandchildren. four weeks ago I requested distributions to pay for college tuition, but they never arrived. so two weeks later I asked for the checks to be stopped and for the money to be sent via ACH. two of the three were done, but the third was not. customer service keeps insiting that an ACH transfer can take two weeks which is complete nonsense. No company has ever made me wish there was a zero star option more. My parents died December 2021, I was named executor of their wills. I have been trying to close an account they have with T. Rowe Price officially for more than one year to no avail. Every call goes nowhere, every customer service representative says something different. The company has not moved into the present century -- they don't have portals, fax, or email. Every request has to come via overnight EXPRESS request ($25 per letter and a visit to the post office) and they don't respond to most of the correspondence they receive. They have no physical branch you can attend, no customer service rep with answers. I've been in the burdensome estate process for over a year and this is the ONLY financial services company that has not been able to meet any of my (court-mandated) needs or requests. It almost feels as if they'd like to .. keep my parents money? And make this process impossible accordingly? At this point, if the court would let me, I'd be willing to let them have it. I am forced to use them because that's where my Dad set up the inherited IRA. I called on 9/6/2022 and asked to have a distribution sent express. Not only did they not send it express, I finally found out that they didn't even mail the check out until 9/14/2022. One of the worst business experiences I have had was to attempt first distribution from TRowePrice workplace retirement. 12/14/21 I submitted request for one-time, $10k direct rollover from 401k to newly opened TRowePrice traditional IRA. After 4 weeks, a check for $7,800 arrived in my mail. Called to ask they correct and deposit $10k. With apologies, Representative promised the pretax $10k would be deposited. Sexist AF. Wouldn't let me speak to a supervisor until I called over 20 times to review a tax error on their part in which they reported on a 1099 that I had converted a pretax account to roth. I hadn't. They told me that because they felt that I had made an error, the policy was not to make a correction. They DID get my address wrong, and they advised me wrong, causing major tax implications. I explained that there were transcripts of an employee misinforming me about the process. I am delighted to be rolling over with Schwab. But they continued to claim that I was at fault. At least Schwab has actual professionals and offer better low fee funds to invest in anyway. Also, when I spoke to women on the line, they offered me procedures that the men did not. The men on the line pretended to be tax professionals even though they are customer service agents. I did advise them that I would ring their customer service line until they corrected it, or I was deceased. Whichever came first. Also submitted to Maryland BBB Called T Rowe Price to get a withdrawal on an IRA account, was told I needed to print out and sign an authorization form. I was told the form would be emailed to me, it wasn't. I called again asking for this form, again it was not emailed to me. I finally called and spoke with a rep named, Vinny, who made sure the I got the correct form and told me all the paperwork I needed to submit. I submit all required documents, including a canceled check in order to get a bank wire of my funds. I sent this in priority mail which I paid extra for. T Rowe Price then lost my canceled check which I sent in and stated they would have to mail my funds to me instead of bank wire. I asked to speak to a supervisor. I was transferred to someone named, Jason who was very rude as a supervisor. I asked him to overnight/Fedex my funds to me since T Rowe Price lost my canceled check. He told me it would be $25. I told him, I would not pay that and that they should waive the fee since this was their fault. He would not do it, was quite rude, promised to call me back and then never did. Overall, I had to call T Rowe Price 3 times just to get the correct form I had to fill out, then they lose my canceled check and refuse to take any responsibility and make things right. TRowe Price has awful customer service. They have a "back office" that makes horrible mistakes. As an example, I requested a small even amount partial direct rollover and TRowe distributed my entire 401k closing it out!. It was a nightmare to get them to fix it and repair my 401K account. And worse, they tried to blame it on me! Unbelievable. That was just one of the occasions they screwed up royally. The persons who act as customer service sound like kids, and it appears they do not have any training. They don't know what they are talking about and will place clients on long holds to ask their "resources" answers to basic questions and then their "resources" give them wrong information. At times they just seem to make answers up. The TRowe Price online website is pure crap. There is no way in their online system to simply move money from a Trowe 401K over even THAT IS A to one of their own TRowe IRAs without calling and having one of the customer service people make the transaction which you hope and pray will be done right., and that is after waiting unbearably long hold times before somebody picks up the phone, then hold again while they "check their resources." Sometimes they even hang up on you when, it appears, they don't know what they are doing. Once a person in their back office made believe acting like some emergency had happened to me -shouting into the phone, "Are you okay? Are you okay?" while on a call so she could hang up. I don't know how she keeps her job. And back to the crappy online website, there is no way to take a distribution and designate state tax withholding unless you are in one of like four states. That is another "special" service that demands a phone request, the agonizing hold times, the checking "resources" and the reasonable anxiety over if it will be done correctly. If you ask for an EFT transaction, they may process your distribution as a paper check anyway which leads to another nightmare of correcting their mistake. And their paper checks suck because the stupid hairline thin fonts they chose to use for the date and account number are so damn thin and faint they are no good to use mobile deposit because they get rejected -to make sure they create more Trowe typical frustration. Oh, "investment specialists?" Do not mistake them for financial advisors. Even if they pretend. My experience with Trowe is so bad that I suggest if you are considering two job offers and one uses trowe for it 401Ks, rule out the one that uses Trowe for its 401K. read more

T. Rowe Price has the worst customer service and I recently experienced how inefficient and unreliable the way they responded to my request. It is very obvious that their Customer service agents are oftentimes clueless (they put you on hold for so long to perhaps figure out what they need to do). On many occasions, I was given incorrect, misleading, or incomplete information. I had a time-sensitive request to send the rollover check for overnight delivery. I was assured of this and when I checked 2 days after they said they went ahead and send via regular mail with no follow-up that they had to make that change. I'll be moving all of our money out of T. Rowe Price as soon as possible. I will not be surprised to have the same traumatic, exceedingly unpleasant, and many hours of dealing with incompetent and deplorable customer service. It's sad for a huge company like T.Rowe Price to have a shabby front office operation like that. I am planning to sell my stocks even for a loss. I have a low tolerance for being an investor in a company that seems not to do things with excellence. This review is in general about T Rowe price mutual funds. I put a modest $3000 in a mutual fund in 2008 and sold it on 2017 when the fund was at 2957 for a shocking negative rate of return. The stock market has grown leaps and bounds since 2008, how is it even possible to have a negative rate of return year over year for this time period? My money would have tripled or quadrupled if I had just put it in any index fund. I would check my fund each year and every year it was underperforming. I was hoping that it would catch-up but nope. On top of that T Rowe has the nerve to charge fees on an account getting a negative rate of return. I should have dumped this mutual fund way back. Terrible web site that has no apparent connection to the out-of-control, poorly-managed processes that are really handling your funds. Specific situation: Requested a loan for purchase of a primary residence. (1) The company mailed a large check (Who does THAT any more?), (2) which was not sent with a tracking number, (3) which almost impacted my closing settlement, (4) until I had to insist they send a replacement check via FedEx. (5) Then when I attempted to pay back the loan (using the web site), (6) the application stated that it would take almost a week to process the payoff, (7) and that date was arbitrarily postponed for another 5 days, (8) when I was notified via email that they could NOT process the payoff. (9) When I called the customer service line, (10) I was told I would need to wait until the following day, (11) for their "system" to clear the original payoff request, (12) so I could start all over, (13) with ANOTHER payoff request. I had a horrible experience with this company. Over the past 8 years I have been in contact with them regarding possible fraud on the retirement account of a relative. TRP told me that it was nothing that they could do because they are just the record keepers. My relative has had money pilfered from their employee based retirement account for many years. Although TRP was the one who initially notified our family, they stated that it was literally nothing that they could do. I do not believe this because at best they could have at least notified the local authorities. The problem existed with our relative's employers Benefits Office. It turns out that an employee in the Benefits Office refused to grant access to our family to our relative's account. This relative is disabled and is considered a vulnerable adult. Although a signed and notarized Power of Attorney Document provided by T Rowe Price was presented to the Employee Benefit representative it was returned and told that no one in our relative's family would be granted access to the account. We are extremely upset as this process has gone on long enough and we believe that someone should be able to do something. read more

Very bad experience with this firm. We've had stock for years and while investment results are not great, but OK there handling of our account is unbelievable. They turned the account over to the Stater of Illinois without my consent or by making a reasonable effort to reach me. They called on October 9th, 2015 and the tone of the call seemed questionable so I asked them to mail me the information. I hung up on them thinking it was probably a scam. The very fact that I talked to them would indicate that I was alive and should satisfy the requirements of the law. I then received a letter indicating my account balance was 0. My first thought was "could I be a victim of identity theft?" So I called them and was told it was turned over to the state. At minimum, I would expect them to send a certified letter indicating that unless I responded, by law they have to turn it over to the state. No such letter. I guess my business wasn't worth the cost of a certified letter. Now I have to jump through hoops with the state of Illinois to get my stock back. Thanks T. Rowe Price UPDATE 1/5/16: The state of Illinois claims they don't have the stock. T RowePrice claims they don't have the stock. Nice dilemma T.RowePrice created. Been using TRP a long time. Good company and trustworthy. Do have one issue. If I want to close out a fund and move my money elsewhere I have to pay $20 for each fund I close. I took this for granted but know Vanguard does not charge such a fee. At one time Fidelity use to charge the same kind of fees but not now. So come on TRP your competitors are not charging such a silly fee, why are you? Opening all my new IRA's, etc. in Vanguard now to avoid these PENELTY fees TRP charges read more
