It has many facets and components but the gist is that its a center for goods to be donated, re-used, up-cycled and turned into art or whatever else you want it to be. If you are a teacher looking for supplies for ur students she's got EVERYTHING (not an exaggeration). I believe teachers get discounts but I'm not entirely sure and even if they don't everything is super cheap. If you are a person who likes to be inspired, check out the space she's got EVERYTHING, books, art supplies, jewelry, jewelry making supplies, stamps, paper, yarn, gadgets and gizmo's aplenty. I have not an artistic fiber in my being but just hanging out there makes me feel like I'm an artist. There are also classes and events, like fill a bag day (for $5 or $6), wine and art classes in the evening on Wednesdays and the one I frequent is the toddler art class on Tuesday (10:00 am-11:30 am). Carly reads a story to the kids- who ADORE her and she them- and then creates a super toddler friendly art project around that story. An example is the time she read an Eric Carlyle book and then led an art project using tissue paper. She gives each child so much loving individual attention and is so easy going. My daughter loves her and loves going to the sharing tree. She does an incredible job of fostering a strong sense of creative, conscious, community in Ole T-Town.

I would spend thousands to order fabric online before I would ever shop at this location again…read more Terrible customer service! Employees lack product knowledge. I went in to get ONE piece of fabric. It took more than 2 hours. 1st of all, I asked one employee if they had a specific type of fabric and she didn't even know what I was talking about. This is a fabric store! She then proceeded to ask another employee who put her finger up in the air as if to say, "wait" and continued having a personal conversation on the store phone. Despite the fact that this is completely inappropriate customer service, I waited to no avail. After waiting for quite some time and realizing I wasn't going to get help there, I walked around the store to find a 3rd employee. The 3rd person, Naru, was beyond helpful and the only reason they even deserve this 1 star. I thought my troubles were resolved but then after waiting in line for another 30/40 minutes, I decided to pay via the store online so that I could take my item without waiting longer. Despite the fact that I showed the order to the manager, I was still made to wait even longer, just for this same manager to call from the back 30 minutes later and say I could NOW leave. It is beyond me that I was made to wait an hour for something I paid for and showed proof of payment. I should've just taken what I paid for and walked out. Instead I was made to wait for bad service. Never again!

I stopped in to purchase a yard of fabric I had chosen from my visit the day prior. The fabric had…read morea sign indicating it cost $7.99 per yard. I went to the counter and asked the clerk to verify the price she responded very curtly, "it's 11.99 per yard." I then told her about the sign and we walked to look at it. She informed me that sign was incorrect. So I asked, why is it here? She then pulled the sign off shelf and said, "I don't know." I got my fabric and walked away thinking I was done with this surly sales person but no, she had to go to the front and serve as a cashier. Luckily, I was called to the other cashier. That cashier asked the surly sales person, if there would be staff coming on at 2 o'clock, and if she would be covering for her while she took her break at two. The surly sales person responded, "Nobody's coming in at two and I'm leaving at two" and she walked away. I was a bit taken aback and frankly so was my cashier. She looked at me and said she's new at this store but she really knows a lot. I looked at my cashier, and said yes maybe but she's very rude. My cashier shook her head and agreement, I think not wanting to say anything negative. I told my cashier that I had shopped there many times and I've always had friendly service. It's unfortunate that this surly sales person is now in our friendly Tallahassee store. Certainly, any future visits will be rare!

I'm a fan! I came to this market one Saturday afternoon because I was in need of some local honey…read morefor my allergies. As we know, local honey is much better and more beneficial than store bought honey. The Frenchtown Farmer's Market is rather small. I would actually say it is smaller than the one out by Thomasville. However, the fresh produce and other goods are great....great quality and great price that is. I saw foods such as watermelons, sweet potato, tomatoes, okra, onions, and beans. There was also some great local honey from Walter, the bee keeper. He had some freshly cut sourdough bread for us to try the honey before purchasing. He had honey both with and without the honeycomb and they were $10 each. He also had some candles that were made out of bee pollen and said those, too were good for allergy sufferers. There was a stand where a lady was selling boiled peanuts; both spicy and non spicy. I saw some t-shirts for sale as well as some artwork. What I appreciated most was that there were people from different ethnic backgrounds and different ages. Everyone was so nice....it's not all the time you walk down the street and are greeted by everyone. There was even a young women set up street side who offered us some free water and free slices of watermelons. Many of the neighbors were sitting on their porches people watching and striking conversations with passersby. Although this is not a place where I could "stock up" on all the produce I desire, it is a great place to stop in to purchase a few items. I love that this market is still around and that some of the culture and history of Frenchtown is being preserved.
