My three-year-old and I had to stand for a moment and take it all in: frozen slush drinks, frozen yogurt and soda choices--complete with three flavor options (cherry, vanilla, lime)--as far as the eye could see. Or at least as far as the counter allowed. I grabbed a vanilla Diet Coke, choosing the largest ounce option I could to make sure I could give this place a thorough review. My daughter went with the frozen slush drink, always a wise choice. Prices were awesome, though I'm always surprised at the candy prices. Of course it didn't stop me from picking up a large bag of peanut butter M&M's. Very clean with a huge selection of food and drink. It's a bit overwhelming, but in a really, really good way.

Later, as an older but still punk kid I remember stopping in here to buy gas quite often. That was before the craziness of Union Heights, and back when it was an older, run down Chevron. Nowadays, it's pretty slick. Still tiny--the convenience store has the basics and not much else--but it's a pretty gas station, if there is such a thing. Truthfully, I tend to avoid this place, even though it's super convenient when you're out shopping or seeing a movie. It's a price thing. And while I still remember when gas got over $1.00 for the first time, I don't think it's my association with the gas station of my youth. I really do think it's a little more expensive here. I mean, if we're nitpicking. Get your gas, see a movie, get a car wash. Sounds like a Saturday to me.

This made ALL the difference in getting a good wash because the automatic washes don't get certain corners or spots on your car and having employees there to give some specific scrub downs before you went through ensured you'd get a good wash. Apparently the upper management has done away with this (even though they still keep a scrub brush and barrel of water) because it takes too much time per car coming through. This seems ironic to be concerned about as I've ever waited in a line here. I tried calling today to give some feedback as the employee said this was a common frustration from other customers but I was hung up on by Tonio after waiting several minutes. Bummer! I think it's time to take our business elsewhere.

OMG, things have certainly changed since then! ;) Kountry Korner is still going strong, having been acquired and managed most recently by the 'Harts' brand which operates 3 gas stations I frequent here locally. The Harts iteration of Kountry Korner is a clean, well-managed and attractive property with friendly employees, a grill and food items, standard convenience store fare attractively arranged, and the ubiquitous gas pumps to fill up your vehicle. There is an air compressor to fill your tires, and it's free! (I hate being forced to get quarters to buy freakin' AIR - it's a particular peeve of mine) and they have a car wash which can either be automated, or you can choose to hose down your own vehicle in the spray bays - as the weather often necessitates a rinse-off of your roadster to keep road grime at bay. It's a one stop shop for car convenience catering to those coming out of the AF Canyon as well.. It's an excellent convenience combination! If you are in the Highland/Alpine area and require refueling of either your vehicle or of yourself, you could do far worse than heading over to the Harts Kountry Korner.

I gave $100 bill plus the money to buy the piece of fruit and the employees were very confused on how to give me change. It seems to me if you don't use cards. People are very confused when they have to give change. The customer service could have been better because they told me to go to a credit union when they had the full capability of giving me change, I think probably a refresher and how to change would be appropriate because the gentleman said after he told me I had to buy something exactly what do you want me to do with this hundred dollar bill when I already said I need to change for $100 bill. I've been on the hunt for the best fountain Diet Coke and Coke Zero in the Salt Lake Valley. Although I've decided that the McDiet Coke from McDonald's is the best, the Diet Coke at Hart's is close second. I have this very specific blend of my Coke cocktail, and it comes out perfect at this Harts. Have you noticed a lot of gas stations don't have very good syrup to put in their fountain drinks? You squirt in some vanilla syrup, and it's just sticky brown water? Or the cherry syrup is factory rejected cough syrup? Not at Hart's! The cups have cute hearts printed on them, and the lid is red - it's just a little detail but it makes my 52oz vats of carbonated goodness a little happier. The donuts there are also great - double chocolate Dunford Donuts that are so fresh, the icing is still soft and gooey. As I walk up to the register, I catch up on the morning gossip with the sweet and chatty ladies up front. They're so friendly, and I think they've given me a personal compliment every time I come to the register. I think I might be as addicted to that attention as the drink I'm purchasing. My main complaint about Hart's is the location and parking. The gas pumps are on the diagonal, and in the mornings the parking lot is a mad mess of cars and delivery trucks. It can be tough to get back onto westbound 7200 South to the freeway.
