A nice little restaurant away from the touristy areas down an alley in the middle of La Ramblas. There were just a few small groups eating in here, but its a nicely kept secret. The service was impeccable and the food was above and beyond what we expected. We ordered a variety of croquettes, paella, grilled octopus with potatoes, duck confit and was recommended to get the tomato bread, which we didn't regret. All the food came out nicely paced. First the croquettes, the goat cheese one was my absolute favorite. Then came the octopus and lemme tell you... we cleaned this dish! It was just as good as Greece. So flavorful and tender. I'm still thinking of this dish! Then the seafood paella came out and my husband is not a fan of paella in Europe because he doesn't like al dente cooked rice. But this place.. the rice was fluffy and fully cooked just the way he likes it. It had tons of seafood buried within it and was super flavorful. We topped off our dinner with Cream Catalana and was given two glasses of complimentary champagne!! We tried to go back before we left, but got caught up in the Spain lock down as part of the Coronovirus.

First day in Barcelona and decided to try Tabarlot based on Yelp reviews! The food was great, but the staff were amazing. At a table close to ours, a medical emergency occurred. The staff reacted professionally and calmly. What could have become a truly devastating evening for everyone was possibly quite literally saved by the staff intervening when they did. While the food is definitely worth the visit, we could not let this experience go by without mentioning it. We had mushrooms with Iberian ham sauce (so delicious), deep fried artichoke hearts, and croquettes as tapas. For mains, we had lamb ribs, langostini paella, lobster paella and grilled salmon. All were very tasty!

A very warm place with good service, nice staff and great food! We ordered quite a few tapas. Our favorites were the potatoes and the chicken strips, oh my goodness were they tasty! If I would go again I'd order those but not reorder the deep fried artichoke as there wasn't a dipping sauce, and as a gluttonous American, I need my sauces .

    The outside view. Invitingly lit.

A very friendly (English speaking) tapas bar that has soulful atmosphere and a nice modern industrial aesthetic to it. The glow of lights uplighting behind a nice looking bar that has sime snack food laid out behind glass displays. The staff were passionate about both the food and the music. (janis joplin featured heavily) which only made me enjoy the food even more. As for the food! Fresh, tasty, varied mix of delicious fish/meat dishes and side plates and platters of tgings like sliders etc... Ill add descriptions to the numerous photos i took. Lol Oh and a great repetoir of craft beer bottles and wine to which they seem to have great knowledge. I simply cannot fault this place. Fab.

A #NomadCEO Review Upon entering, the staff are bilingual and seem to be very skilled at greeting people in their native language within a few seconds of inspection! Tabarlot has refreshingly fast wifi (30mb+) which is much harder to find in Barcelona than it should be. There are one or two power outlets, and the staff seem quite OK with you using them. With a simple and great value breakfast menu, it's extremely friendly for English travellers and a good spot to get a few hours work done with only a few euros outlay. The food portions are all quite small, but Tabarlot seems to favour higher quality ingredients while keeping their prices reasonable with smaller portions. Coffee is rich and full bodied. The most substantial food you'll find here is a hamburger or bocadilla (a sub sandwich). Overall, a great bar/coffee shop that manages to maintain a traditional and high quality Spanish menu, while providing an upmarket decor and tourist friendly service that makes you feel more than comfortable to sit and get some work done.

Friendly service, the guys working made a point to make sure I was enjoying my meal and even inquired about where I was from. They were patient with my butchered Spanish! My beer, tortilla espanola, and pan con tomate were all super tasty but quite pricey around $16 USD.

Absolutely loved this place. This was our go-to place for drinks and food. It was close to our hotel and the staff were always very nice. The food was fantastic!!

We went becausee if it's convenient location, but stayed for the great sangria and food (tapas and main dishes)! We shared alit her if sangria as we mulled over the menu and ambiance. All of the tapas we got were great. The sausage and white beans was great too!

    Cod Fritters. Amazing!

Great tapas. Wonderful service and staff. Very welcoming of an American wandering the city by himself. Appreciate the hospitality and enjoyed a relaxing dinner with live music.

This was recommended by friends awhile back, I remembered the modern ambiance, amazing Tapas, friendly service and the place was as busy then until now. For this big restaurant caliber, it's pretty crowded yet they do a good job with a fast turnaround. We did the early Dinner and by the time we got out there was already a long line for late Diners. The fact that even after a decade, it's rare that I go back to the same spot let alone they're still around after all these years. You already know that tells a lot and I feel bad for those who didn't have the same great experience, hope they give it another shot. See y'all soon! Salut, Vermouth!

It seemed like mostly a flavored fat. The tomato with toast was lovely. Soaked with natural tomato juice. The skewered prawns were the best. Get them. And we ended with coconut pudding. We were happy to enter the cozy La Alcoba Azul and seated by a smiling host immediately & presented with menus. The interior looks almost like a wine cellar with brick vaulted ceilings. The offerings are best described as fusion tapas but there are a few traditional bites as well. Our waiter presented us with an amuse bouché of pumpkin hummus topped with roasted pepitas on an herbed toasted baguette crisp. DELICIOUS! We confidently ordered the tomato tartare with avocado cream, basil, olive powder and rosemary olive oil caviar as well as a half order of cured Iberican meats featuring chorizo, loin, sausage and ham, an order of the hummus with black olives, parsley, pine nuts and pita triangles. All were terrific! We especially enjoyed the meats and tomato tartare. I enjoyed a red sangria that was satisfying and happened to be topped with cinnamon...a first and welcome addition for me. La Alcoba Azul is a spot we'll keep on our tapas go to list! You shouldn't hesitate to visit.

Our server, Amaya, was funny, knowledgeable, and incredibly attentive. He took great care of us, and every single recommendation he made was delicious. I wish I knew all the Spanish names of the dishes because everything was amazing. The highlights for us were the Bacalao -- so tender and full of flavor -- and honestly the best octopus I've ever had in my life. We also loved the soft steak with duck liver served on a slice of French baguette, the shrimp skewers, patatas, and the Spanish ham with tomato toasts. Every dish was unforgettable. On top of the incredible food, the restaurant itself has such an elegant atmosphere with beautiful décor that made the whole dining experience even more special. Well, the restaurant was cute and cozy with a great ambiance. With luck on our side, we found two seats at the bar and quickly ordered drinks. We ordered a pitcher of the sangria (because why not?). The sangria was delicious, refreshing, and made to order. It was definitely more authentic than what we're getting in America. We ordered the patatas bravas, tempura asparagus, the octopus, and the steak. It all came out as it became available. We couldn't decide what our favorite was, to be honest. We ordered an ice cream sandwich for dessert and quickly requested our bill. We didn't want to hold the staff up as we noticed they were cleaning the establishment and people were finishing up. Overall, what a great experience for our first meal in Barcelona! Cute and hidden gem.

We grabbed the only table open when we arrived at 1 on a Monday afternoon. We saw a Cava Sangria (a first) and had to try-light and delicious! They also had Majou Beer (from Malaga) on draft which is hard to find outside of Malaga so had to have one. We ordered a couple of starters and a couple of what I'd say were bigger plates. The pork belly marinated in lime was tasty but the fresh Mackerel stole the show! The Truffled eggs with foie and mushrooms was finished table-side and was amazing. We missed that the Cuttlefish had squid ink-no matter, so light and exquisite-only complaint would be to have more cuttlefish. Service was engaged and friendly from start to finish. Tapeo reminds me of some of the regional restaurants where you want to try the entire menu at once cause it all looks so good. Tapeo is now on the list of "must stops" when in Barcelona!
