Returned in Jan 2022. The entire place has been remodeled! Therei s now even more soft lounge seating. Dance floor is clean and open. There is def a new DJ since I was here last and he played great mnusic!!!! Great variety of various types of music that veryone was able to jame too! I can't say enough BAD things about this place. Music sucks, horrible customer service, and it isn't considered a lifestyle club in my opinion anymore. They allow any and everyone to come without pre-screening them. A couple of months ago people were at the business next door and saw all of the couples going in and some came over and asked me what it was, being a woman who values privacy and understand the importance of being discreet, I simply responded with "it's a members only club". They went in and the people at the door told them all they needed to do was fill out an application on the computer screen and they could come in. Several times after that I noticed it transitioning from an upscale, discreet lifestyle club to a typical club that would be described as having relaxed rules as compared to more public clubs. They are getting desperate for members and it shows. But it's making those of us that value privacy feel very uncomfortable and unsafe. The most recent circumstance that is unacceptable is when their bartenders mistakenly gave away my bottle of alcohol that you check in and that needs to be out by 2am. A friend and I stood in a very short line at 1:45 to retrieve my remaining alcohol. Although is was only 2 people ahead of us, the bartenders were laughing and conversing with other customers but we didn't mind. Everyone was having a good laugh so we patiently waited. Once I reached the front of the line I asked for my bottle of DonJulio that I brought. My friend and I watched them search all refrigerators about 3 times. I noticed earlier in the night I was the only one who had a Don Julio bottle that night so I knew there was something off for them not to be able to find it. The closest resemblance to the bottle is the Patron bottle which has still be sitting on the shelf with the other alcohol. Hoping I'd just say "forget about it", but to no avail, the bartender finally came back and said it's not here. I jokingly smiled and said yes I can see that. Thinking there would be some sort of resolution or at least an apology for more than likely mistakenly giving my bottle away, I was surprised to be met with a nonchalant shoulder shrug and a "it's gone". Then he proceeded to ask had I already retrieved it and had not remembered. I told him it was a new bottle and I only had 2 drinks that night, I'd know if I got the remaining alcohol or not. I asked to speak with the owner and the very simple situation quickly turned into a battle of her preferring to defend their mistake rather than apologize. Her name is Vicky and she was very rude. She told me I was wrong and that I just didn't get to the bar in time before it was thrown out. I explained to her how I had been in line since before 2am and watched the entire unfolding of the bartenders working (or the lack thereof) til 2 and no alcohol was thrown out. She wanted to comp me a free night. I said I appreciate that but that's not what this is about. It was about owning up to a simple mistake. She refused to and continued to get angry at my unwillingness to take my "pay off" of a free night. She then attempted to call my bluff on being there before 2, and says condescendingly do you want me to go get the empty bottle. I said yes I actually would love that. She stormed off and proceeded to find a bottle that wasn't there. In the meantime she called a co-owner to talk to me or as I felt rather to shut me up. He attempted the same tactics of giving me a free night or my money back. Realizing they are just not going to apologize for my experience I said fine I'll take my refund. He reached in his pocket and gave me the money right out of his wallet as if to say here now shut up. At that point I was beyond disgusted with how they handled the situation and further irritated with how their entire argument of me not making it in time to the bar was proved to be false as Vicki never returned with that empty bottle she was so eager to show me. No one was able to find the empty bottle. But instead of being good business owners they chose the route of unprofessionally blaming me and revoking my membership because I pressed the issue. They let my husband and I return to our party for the remainder of the night, as what I would assume to not draw attention to kicking us out from an unwarranted situation. Once we exited the club and were walking to our cars, Vicki came outside and yelled out very disrespectfully "yall need to leave, yall can't be in our parking lot, yall need to go" It was all very distasteful and off-putting. Grand reopening! They've updated the lounge furniture next to the dance floor. White leather. Very sexy on anything anywhere nights. The last few times I've gone, it's been ice cold. I don't know if they're doing it on purpose but it's not pleasant for scantily clad ladies. Some of the play rooms downstairs have also been updated. I used to love the group play room in the back. There are about six queen size beds scattered about. I think they added one giant ottoman. When they renovated, they raised all of the beds. So now you have to climb up 4 feet onto the bed or be 8 feet tall in order to stand up and play. And ladies, good luck sitting on the edge of the bed. They also seem to be having an air problem down there, too. Also, I think they are missing some key staff. The basement area is so loud these days it's hard to focused on the sexy. My wife and I made our first visit to Tabu, and based in the reviews I was expecting a rather exciting time. Our goal was to have a nice night out with each other. We joined the club on what happened to be a blackout night which is when they turn the lights out on the dance floor and distribute glow sticks, which made the visit even more erotic. Because this was our first time the front desk assigned Shay and Greg to host us and show us around. I've never before had the rockstar treatment like that. They were both warm and welcoming, and they took pride in what the club had to offer. It was a Saturday and we arrived close to 12:45 and people were still in full swing (no pun intended). I wish we would have gone earlier in the night so that we could put our names on the waiting list for a particular room, but since it was getting close to closing and the wait list was lengthy, we opted to get the first available room which was the Eye Room. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit, and although the situation was a bit out of my wife's comfort range, she was a trooper throughout and was proud of her overcoming her nervousness. Really upset about all the negative reviews on here, because I think they are coming from people that quite bluntly have no clue how the Lifestyle works and how the club functions, so let me throw in my two cents. First off, as far as Lifestyle Clubs go, this one is Top-Notch. Maybe the best in the mid-Atlantic region. There are about 10 play rooms, all themed, clean, and a lot of fun. The bar (it's BYOB, but they have mixers) and the staff are AWESOME - A++. My only complaint is that the music is a little dated, but I'm picky about that. The bar area and main area are a good place to meet, chat, dance, or have your lady get on the stripper poles or in the Go-Go cage. It's an amazing place to play downstairs, and they even have a shower in the bathrooms. The set up is fantastic. Can't say enough about the club itself (just make sure you were a shirt with a collar - no T-Shirts). Now, as far as the people, I would say average age is 40'ish. But a lot of people 25 - 55. It's probably 70% white, and 30% other races, which is great. Everyone is fun, happy, and friendly. Now, if you go there not knowing anyone, not knowing the rules of the lifestyle, and (especially for single guys) just thinking you will get lucky, you are probably in for a long and boring night. If you however know a few couples already (maybe from a website) and you use this club to meet, drink, and play - it's GREAT. You have to have a little network. I can see both sides of these arguments. We went last Friday (first time) where the theme was boots, booties, and boobies. There was no shortage of any of these! The crowd was ok and the staff was great. There was an ok mix of people at different age ranges. There is a lot of play space with very nice theme rooms. On the other side, there are some pretty ghetto people there. We saw a few girls off in a corner clearly upset about some drama that was going on but that's could happen anywhere. Visited Tabu this past weekend for a friend's bday party, yeah I know not a very conventual birthday party. Without getting all long and drawn out, the club is a great place to go if you're interested in the "lifestyle" or just want to have a good time with some friends. You get a personal tour upon your arrival and get a breakdowns of the do's and don'ts. Very clean...well lit where needed...friendly staff/volunteers...no pressure to "play"...respectful members... Tabu is much more than just a lifestyle club it's also a club club! Went for my first time last night (12/29) as a single female (who's partner was away.) Great vibe, great people. I received a tour when I first arrived, which was helpful. There was a very diverse crowd (age and ethnicity.) There are tables to sit/stand and chat in the lobby/bar area where you could hear each other. In the dance area, the music was very loud, which was great. Music varied, there was a little something for almost everyone. The smoking room is pretty small, but it did the trick. You are also to come in and out of the club as you please, so that's a viable smoking alternative. Overall, great experience. Went saturday with my date as newbies. First off, make sure you read the website in detail. Prices can shift based on if its a theme night. We attended on an "anything anywhere" night, so price was a little higher. Cover is pricey, but its BYOB and the drinks are stored, mixed, and served to you free of charge (tipping is welcome). They provide all mixers and ice and what not for free. (even energy drinks on tap). The wildest nights are the anything anywhere, and the blackouts. Now, for the good stuff...Guys MUST wear a collared shirt. Girls? well, lets just say use your imagination. Sexy dress is encouraged. During our visit, my date has a sexy black dress with crotchless panties. Others were in bikinis, see through dresses, lingerie, leather, heals, you name it. (some even got rid of clothes all together). The bar area is a little small, but easily transitioned between the basement area and the dance floor. The dance lounge has carpeted floors, and large couches plus chair seating. a cage and 2 poles on the dance floor usable at your discretion. Overall a nice dance floor that lets you easily get up and dance, or get intimant with your date. During anytime anywhere nights, play is expected and normal in the lounge. I saw many people doing anything from hanging out, dancing, foreplay and full on sex. Moving to the downstairs, the rooms are nicely put together, clean, and always sanitized after each couple. there are a handful of private theme rooms, 1 room for couples of 6+ and a group room that has no limit to how many can play (this room you are expected to clean up after yourself however, but attendants still visit it) Condoms, sanitizing products etc.. are all provided in every room. The bathrooms have stuff like lotions, tampons, etc.. Downstairs bathroom has a shower you can use if you get exceptionally messy. The lockers are roughly 1ftx1ft so bring a lock. Coat check is available for a small fee (2 coats for $5) DJ wasnt bad, some newer club tracks could of been played, but the ones that he did play were solid club classics, so not a huge deal. Be careful on the steps leading down into the play lounge, they can be steep after a night of drinking. all alcohol has to be removed from the bar by 2am or it gets dumped. If its your first time, tell them at the desk and they can get an employee or a senior member to show you around the club. Music was "club rap" i guess you could call it with some spanish mixed in (stuff like TI, pitbull, lil john, etc..) population was fairly diverse. younger crows in there 20's all the way up to some older, more conservative couples. Some tight fit bodies, some not so tight or fit. Fairly strong mix of black, white, hispanic with a slightly stronger leaning towards black (possibly from being maryland based?) Single guys almost never get in here unless they come with a couple. My guess is because they want to keep down on the "single creeper hitting on girls" vibe that alot of clubs get. Its intended for a place of couples, groups, swapping, etc.. not to say a single guy cant pick up some fun there, just dont come in EXPECTING to jump into an orgy or pick up a girl. Honestly i would say your more likely to get action if you come with as a couple (maybe find a girl your comfortable being fwb with) Overall: If you go to this club, come with an open mind. Be prepared to see some crazy things that you would never see at a "normal" club or bar and dont be judgemental. Most of the people here come here because its a safe haven for them to let their freak flag fly, and no kink shaming ever occurs. (i am into the BDSM scene and i led my date around on a collar and leash all night. We got a few looks, and a few thumbs up, but no dirty looks). TLDR: comfortable, shame free place to get drunk, look at some equally drunk bodies, doing some dirty things, and enjoy your deepest kinks in a place where its normal. I am a reasonably attractive, fit / athletic single man. I went as a "sponsored" single male on a Saturday in June 2017 (during a "blackout" party), with a couple who are my friends. Bottom line: NOT RECOMMENDED, especially for single men. Reasons in MY experience (I fully realize that someone else may disagree): 1) most of the people there were couples, and socialized only with themselves or with friends who they came with. Even between different / new couples, I noticed very little interaction. Therfore, not a very "social" atmosphere. 2) the dance floor was during it's peak only 1/3 full (in my opinion), with couples dancing with themselves. The music was so loud, I could not converse with anyone else including my friends. By 1:30 pm, the dance floor was nearly empty except for 2 or 3 couples off to the sides who were making out. 3) for a Saturday, I didn't think it was that crowded overall, compared to clubs I have been to in Florida, NYC, etc. The crowd was relatively sparse. 4) as a single male, I paid $105 cover charge. That included $95 door fee plus $10 surcharge to come with the couple. I am not complaining about the amount of money (I realize that lifestyle clubs depend on single men, to a degree, to "pay their bills"). My gripe is that I really got very little value for what I paid. Basically (from a single man point of view), it is little more than a club with a dance floor. As a single male, I could not attend the play area in the basement without my sponsor couple (and they did not want to go). So I was mostly stuck to the upstairs bar and dance floor, which were populated with couples who were mostly interested in themselves. I could get nearly the same experience in almost any club in Adams Morgan or Dupont Circle, for a $20 cover charge. Now there is nothing that I can do if people don't want to meet new folks and at least say hi to them, and I am not complaining about that at all. And I certainly understand the restrictions against single men. Vicky and Rick, the owners, work hard to run a great club for couples that is clean and well staffed, and I give them credit for that. However from a "value" point of view, my recommendation for single men is: SAVE YOUR MONEY FOR SOMETHING ELSE. The system is basically designed to rip off single men. Personally, I meet way many women in 30 minutes at a regular club in DC or Baltimore than I did in 3 hours at Tabu. And to meet women in the lifestyle, put the $105 towards a lifetime membership to swinglifestyle.com (SLS), and post your "hot dates" on SLS and interested women will come to you :) Bottom line is that for me, it was just not worth the steep cover charge ($105) which is more than what I have paid at other lifestyle clubs, and I will not be returning as a single man (I learned my lesson :) Maybe I'll return as a couple, when I'm with an interested woman, who knows :) read more

This was our second time in Tabu . Just to be clear me and my boyfriend are not swingers . Just a very good looking open minded couple that like to get dressed and dance and get hot with each other. Not many places to do so in Baltimore. We travel often. Mainly to Miami , New York , California. So we have been in similar establishments. Here is our opinion. People who work there is very friendly and try to make everyone happy. Place is clean . Crowd is mixed . 60 % African American . All seem to be friendly and few even approached us with compliments that we look like Hollywood couple. The worth part was music. All night same rap music . I guess it caters to the people who is there. So it was impossible to dance at all. I try to talk to DJ and he gave me pen and paper to write the song I wanted but I was not prepared for that .. Last night was my first visit. I had never been to a lifestyle club before, although my friend who went with me had been to another one before. We arrived somewhat late, a little after midnight. Being somewhat nervous and not knowing what to expect, we figured our main goal for the evening was simply to check it out and learn about the place and the lifestyle. We were very pleasantly surprised! The staff was nice and an experienced member gave us a thorough tour of the facility and went over the rules, and offered some of her own advice. Here are a few observations, in no particular order: - Every other guest we spoke with was friendly and laid back. I realize the crowd may change on a nightly basis, but the nice people we encountered certainly helped us feel more comfortable. - As others have mentioned, the crowd is very diverse. For us, that was a big plus, but if that isn't your thing, be aware. - The facility itself was well maintained and clean. - We didn't really have much interaction with the staff after the initial check-in, but I suppose that's actually a good sign... it's not like we had any concerns or complaints. - It's actually quite efficient. There seems to be a system for everything. We didn't play with anyone else that evening, but that's ok.. our goal was to check it out, see if it was something we were interested in, and decide if we wanted to return. I can enthusiastically say yes, we will be back. Never having been to a similar establishment, I can't comment on how this business compares to others, but I didn't really see much need for improvement. read more

My guess is you are very wishy washy this is why no other members could get a proper read on you. If you need a prize every time you go to a theme club then I believe Dave and Buster would be more your speed. If you have such a negative few of the club then by all means do not return. My wife and I have been to Tabu two times now. We went once on a Saturday night and another on a Friday night. Both times we were there for their Blackout Party. This was our first time at a club like this. The clientele seems to be predominantly couples in their mid-30's to mid-40s with quite a few in their 20's and 50's mixed in. The racial makeup for those interested seemed to be about 50% black, 40% white, and 10% other. There was an even mix of men and women. The sizes and shapes were all over the place but there were quite a few hot women and many of which were dressed very sexy. Downstairs are the VIP rooms. Most all were occupied with the doors shut. The voyeur rooms (with windows) are pretty dark which makes it difficult to see anything anyway. The group room was always pretty full of people "playing" but I feel the room needs better ventilation. During the Blackout Parties they turn the off the lights and relax the rules at midnight so there was quite a bit of action on the couches near the dance floor. Unfortunately it is so dark and loud in there that it is difficult to communicate with your partner, not to mention anyone else. They only relax these rules during special nights (Blackout and Anything Anywhere). I wish that it was more often though as that seems to be when it is the most fun there. Also the couches are comfortable, but really only big enough for two people. I would have preferred larger couches so folks could sit closer to each other get to know one another better. They also play porn on the televisions but one of the times we were there it was porn from the late 80s / early 90s. The next time it was better but not great. It would be nice if it was newer and in high definition. Everyone seemed to be very friendly and more outgoing than regular clubs which is a big plus. The staff and bartenders were also very friendly. Overall I really liked the vibe there and we definitely plan on going back. The party was great but the costume contest was "BULLSHIT" it was totally supposed to be based on costumes and it wasn't. I felt like it was rigged, favoritism from people who knew people. The people that had won their costumes were not original or did not have a costume on at all. It seemed to me that they wanted to keep the prizes in house. **Suggestion consider allowing bias judges, judge don't allow the crowd to judge because they were cheering for people that were naked or flashing the crowd and that were not in costumes. By far worth a go and night out and most likely you'll get hooked. Tabu, has vastly changed for the worse as far as quality is concerned. As a membership holder for almost a decade, it has simply gotten deplorable especially when I look back to what it used to be. A place to hang out, meet up with with a diverse ethnic/cultural backgrounds looking to relax and have fun. Yes, it can be somewhat cliquish but that's everywhere, high school, work, sometimes you simply need to bring your own sand bucket to the beach as opposed to find one at the beach. As a single male, I get the price point set... as it's meant to separate the real from the fakes. Fine, but getting to the location to be hit with an extra fine of almost 5 bucks for using your card as opposed to cash. Is just thievery, and then the worse part of all... to be buzzed into a foyer filled with enough cigarette smoke that leaves you running to the bathroom for clean air. Probably should have ran outside, but then whom would I be kidding, I just spent enough money to fill up a Hummer from E to F. 3 hours later walking out smelling like the bottom of a well used ashtray. Hey DMV:) This Southern Carolinas' Beach gal hearts ya'll, & will repeat! Great staff & super friendly atmosphere. Time limits on group close door playrooms can get pesky, if you're having a good time. However, it's really a simple kindergarten lesson that taking turns & sharing, is one of the many appendixes attached to that, rule de' golden. My Tabu cameo was on a Friday eve-but the attendance was not lacking. If you happen to enjoy a cig, cigar, or vapor/vape while you're drinking/playing, then you're strongly advised to do so before your entrance. That is, unless you are into doing so inside a solitary confinement cell that is smaller than a knat's anus. But hey, the vibe was still great. Even,my fellow inmates, in the Shawshank Smoking foot locker provided a comradery that was so epic, that only Morgan Freeman could narrate it. Will most certainly return after I remind myself that enjoying an adult lung libation inside of a knat's anus isn't an option. I will also plan to pack an egg timer with my toys, in order to avoid the Cindrella pumpkin knock, before all my fantasies turn into mice. Good club-Good People-GOOD TIMES! read more

We're regulars at 4 fabulous mid-west lifestyle clubs, so understand that this review is a bit based on comparisons to those experiences. My partner and I arrived at 9:45pm on a Blackout Night. We were assigned a great couple L & T, who showed us around. Having reviewed the website and having experienced many other clubs, we knew 95% what to expect and there were not big surprises. The facility is clean, well decorated, very professionally staffed, including bartenders and room check-in station. The rooms are themed, with many "sponsored" rooms, aka - rooms named for popular internet and local lifestyle businesses. A few of the light dimmer switches were not playing well on tour, but compared to most clubs which don't give you any light switch, this is still above standards. The lower level where the rooms are is WELL air conditioned, as is the entire club, another HUGE plus. Most clubs you are lucky to get a fan. This club has over a half dozen fans above the dance floor, and group rooms have their own air conditioners. That being said, my partner started the night off wishing that she had brought a sweater... but once the club filled up it was fine and even a little warm. The smoke room is very, VERY small. And that also means hot. It's cram packed on a busy night, so we elected to just go outside. We're used to clubs having large, outdoor smoking areas, which are great ways to socialize. Lacking this, we did find it very difficult to socialize. The bar area is great for extroverted people to mingle as groups, but the dance floor is very loud. It has a great DJ! But most of the couches were reserved, and spaced so as to make conversation with anyone sitting nearby impossible. We had to speak into each other's ear to hear each other sitting next to each other. The other chairs are around the dance floor, bar style. We found that in many of these areas, couples stayed to themselves. This was also true downstairs. We're used to not reserving rooms, to most doors being left open with a chain/voyeur option. This didn't allow us to really walk around and spark up conversations with other couples as we watched, which is something we were also used to being able to do and couldn't. Doors are closed and locked at all times. Nobody was browsing, enjoying the view. For the size of the club, it fills up decently. The size compares to the clubs we've been to in the mid-west. The club is well run, decorated, staffed, nice bathrooms. It's the few things that threw us off that I can't give 5 stars. First, everything has a price, though the club fees are comparable. We're used to standing glass coolers, not a bartender serving your own liquor. We're used to looking for a room ourselves, not checking in with anyone to reserve a room, which also is encouraged as a tip. 45 minutes seems long 2 ppl, maybe better to make it 10 min per person in room. They clean the rooms for the tip, but we're used to doing this ourselves for free. We're used to lockers being in well lit, private area with changing. With the Blackout party, we had to use one of the provided glow sticks to see the lock because lockers are near the dance floor. And there were some rule differences we weren't used to. The woman owns the account and the card. She can remove the man, but the man can't remove her. Women can go downstairs alone, but their men cannot. With single men being non-existent (rules) at this club for the most part, not sure why this rule. We've seen "couples only" areas before, but not gender restrictions. There are also large no play areas. Basically, if you aren't in a room with a bed, play isn't allowed. Maybe there are local laws which prevent open displays of visible sex. This might explain the chains and the no-play rules, which is a huge shame as that's one of the things we love about clubs, that very open and free environment. I stopped my partner from activities she's used to doing near dance floor, because it felt unacceptable. We were told the club frowns on male bodies upstairs. This honestly made us a bit uneasy, and was commented on by another couple checking in at the same time as us. Please understand, we're a fully open, unmarried, polyamorous couple with zero rules or restrictions who have been doing this for years. We have no insecurities or hangups around clubs, sex, and nudity. What worried us about the rules is what that said about the environment we were entering, and the community as a whole that we'd just moved in to. The men seemed very shy, focused on their date, not flirty, and reserved. My partner is used to a dozen men approaching her, and was disappointed that not one did. We're used to a lot more nudity and playfulness. I'll give the club top ratings, down marks for smoke area (our preference, maybe a plus for others). No down rating for shy crowd and restrictions, we'll try again on a slower night and see if people are more relaxed, flirty, and conversational. read more

I'm sorry but this is way to expensive just to hang out at a club. There is no entertainment other than other couples. So its only a hub for people to entertainment themselves. If it was $20 to get in, it would still be a maybe. read more

First two visits to the club had a good time. This last visit Feb 23, 2019 was rather subpar. The vibe overall was off. There were also a couple of single males roaming around without their female partners. Also the dress code was very very casual for some. Thought the place was more upscale. Too many people with jeans and sneakers on. Group room was extremely hot like the cooling unit was broken. read more
