My tacos came out a full 10 minutes before my friend's tacos (same exact taco order - and I'll remind you we're still the only people in the restaurant...). We then watched our server get a little upset with the cook while pointing to our table, so there were some interesting, public communication issues among the staff. Finally, when the time came to pay, they presented their tap system, where the server was walked me through my items and processed it, quickly selecting the tip amount on my behalf me and finalizing it before I could say anything. I asked her about the tip, she pointed to show me how much it was, and I shared that I understand that but she selected it for me. She laughed, said thanks, walked away. I wasn't planning to return based on the food, but the forced tip amount at the end of a pretty bad dinner experience was what really changed the tone of my review. I love local Mexican spots and I hope they read this and make some changes to their service. NKC is growing and I'd hate for them to fall flat among the other competitors doing a little more for their customers.
