A very friendly neighborhood restaurant with excellent Mexican food. My friend and I were both shocked to find several vegetarian options on the menu, and I'm not talking about refried beans and rice either. There were some yummy vegetable dishes as well. The guacamole was to die for, because I could actually taste the individual ingredients, such as the cilantro and the lime and the avocado and garlic. Delish. Their tortilla chips tasted freshly made and would be surprised if they were not. Very crunchy and fresh. In my opinion, the food is great along with the specials found daily--check out the items listed on boards. The mixing of flavors included in dishes temps the palate--so good, so fresh, especially those found in the soups offered. I have a tendency to buy bowls instead of cups of Taco Fresco's soups for my husband and myself. A menu of additional meals along with beverages is available. Went here with my wife for a quick early dinner. It's a small place that you may miss. Little area outside to sit, inside was comfortable with large windows for light and a great view of downtown. Atmosphere was fitting and enjoyable. The chef took exceptional pride in preparation and presentation like he owns the place. Server was great and attentive. Drinks were good, the food was amazing. My wife had a chicken burrito bowl and I had a shrimp burrito. Both were extremely fresh and delicious. Portion sizes are large. 2 margaritas, 2 beers, chips, cheese and salsa with the entrées was around 70 bucks. Definitely 2 meals worth of food. Loved it. Service is quick and friendly. 2 cooks in the small but immaculate galley kitchen with one server so there can be a wait for your food, but it will be piping hot... the wait is not unreasonable though - I think they've built in time to drink ;) Ordered fries, cane asada, fried avocado, and shrimp tacos on corn tortillas. Everything was well prepared but needs a little something to make the taco pop! These tacos are big compared to traditional in that they are loaded! I placed an order for delivery with taco fresco and after waiting an hour past the time it was suppose to be delivered I called to check on the status of my order. I was told my order was cancelled because the delivery driver did not want to take the order because I did not leave a tip (I was planning on giving the driver a cash tip at the time of delivery). The worst part of this whole ordeal is the fact that they didn't even call to say that they were canceling the order so we waited over two hours for the food that was never coming. I'm more than a little disappointed that they did this and even more upset that they were not even a little bit apologetic for what had happened. Wait staff was very friendly and happy to get us anything we needed. I ordered the nachos for a meal which would have been plenty, but I added the buffalo chicken taco which was more than enough food for one person. Both plates came as expected and made a good-sized lunch. Gladly took the leftovers home in a box with me. They did have social distancing measures in place and my party sat outside. We were in the shade for all of our lunch meal and got lucky with great weather. Quick service too! read more

After trying a smorgasbord of tacos, no doubt, this place is legit! Personally, the Moroccan and fish tacos were the favorites, but everything else was delicious too. After trying those tacos I can't imagine anything on the menus is bad! All was prepared fresh and the salsa that came with the tacos were a great compliment. Whitewater's newest eatery (they opened about 2 weeks ago) is a fantastic cafe-style eatery serving up huge portions of homemade Mexican deliciousness! Their menu offers a variety of tacos, quesadillas, and burritos, along with a few other specialty items. The atmosphere is decorative yet not overpowering. Very laid back and clean vibe. You place your order and pay at the counter, then your food is served to your table. Everything is made fresh to order. I had the green chile pork burrito and it was HUGE! I easily got a second meal out of it later. It had tender, spicy pork, queso, rice, beans, lettuce, and tomato. I could tell that all of the ingredients were very fresh. I was also given a small cup of complimentary guacamole on the side upon request, which was much appreciated and delicious. They have a salsa bar available, including mild, hot, and chipolte ranch. I took a small cup of mild and one of chipolte ranch. They were the perfect compliment to the burrito. They also offer a free unique beverage option which I love. There have one dispenser of cold water, and a second dispenser of cold water with fresh ingredients inside to make a flavored water. From what I've heard, the flavor changes daily. Today's flavor was orange rosemary, made with large orange slices and a few sprigs of fresh rosemary. Very refreshing! Grand total for this meal: $6.42. Yep, you read that correctly. GO HERE! Hipster taco spot with decent tacos, they served our water out of a Tito's vodka bottle... :) The Moroccan chicken was mild with a hint of sweetness. The fried avocado was pretty good, it could have used a little more kick, so I added the mango salsa which made it pop more. The vegan black bean was super spicy and very filling; I added mango salsa to the black bean taco too, that stuff was tasty on everything! No skimpy Tacos here, there were filled to the brim. Reasonably priced at approx $3.50 a taco. Chips n salsa were good too, very mild, which our kids liked. Disappointing. The food here is fine to average hipster tex-mex, some parts (salsa) better than others (fish taco). I still hate paying $3+ for a taco, but the high prices are not why I'm giving it two stars. The thing that bothers me about this place is that I hear it talked about as a great independent place that is good for the town. However, they use styrofoam takeout containers, and upcharge you like crazy. An ounce of guacamole? $2! Want to use your American Express card? $2! Make a burrito into a bowl? $2! Sorry, folks. Wow! Very enjoyable meal tonight. First time to eat here and I must say that the food was AMAZING!! My order was ready before the time I was told to pick it up. I took a moment to check before I left the restaurant and everything was as ordered. If there is a ding to put on this meal, it would be the rice and beans - other than the saltiness they were pretty bland. I was expecting refried beans but that's not what the menu says, so my bad. Popped in for a few tacos. The restaurant had four tables going. Now, granted it's a small place so that's busy BUT we are also talking tacos here. They don't take long. I ordered three different ones plus guacamole. The guacamole came flying out of the back at me and was obviously house-made and also delicious. And then I apparently got a taste of what it's like at the Fyre Festival as roughly 50 minutes ticked by before those tacos came out. The very polite (and cute) waitress did explain they had to get the delivery orders out 1st. What?!? I'm a lesser priority. I'm way too cool to be treated like this! In any case, the tacos were late as hell but they were also overstuffed and they offered me a free beer for my inconvenience. Normally, I'd hit this place with 0 stars for a wait like that but the food is very good. And the service tries really hard! This place is a hidden gem of whitewater! Its placed in the heart of downtown, and they have some of the best food around for great prices! They have seating inside and tables outside as well, making this a great lunch spot during the summer. The chicken quesadilla is my go to here, tastes just as good as any Mexican restaurant around. Delicious! Though it is another mexican restaurant in whitewater, it is the best one we have! First of all, the employees there are very considerate and friendly. I work at a cafe down the street from the restaurant and they have given us basil, cilantro, & cheese that they have too much of. It was a very nice gesture! When I went there to eat, it was a date night for my boyfriend and I. We heard great reviews about Taco Fresco and decided to try it out. I got a quesadilla & Tom got a burrito. We also shared Chips & Guacamole. It took a while to get our food, but it was sooooo worth it. During our wait, we noticed the fun intereior and bright colors. Th modern music also made us dance in our seats! This young business has fresh, unique, and flavorful food! I love everything spicy, and their hottest salsa was even too hot for me! I was floored by that. The servings were also generous, we were full and had so much left-overs for the next day. The variety, service, and flavor is all worth the money spent there. We are addicted! What a pleasant surprise - I dropped into Fresco Taco during a break in the action from the Wisconsin High School Theater Festival with no expectations. The $5 bottomless basket of chips and salsa featured freshly-made corn chips with just the right amount of salt. I also was impressed with the variety of tacos, with exotic options like Moroccan Chicken and Asian Beef. Other than being a wee bit too salty, I enjoyed the bold flavors of the Moroccan Chicken and Asian Beef tacos. The green chili pork taco impressed as well. ***Prior to this evening, my rating probably would have been 3.5-4 stars. About a half an hour ago, myself and a colleague of mine dined-in at the restaurant. Our otherwise lovely Friday evening dinner was interrupted upon our departure (and then soonafter). After receiving our checks, the waitress (whose name I will omit) asked us to leave because there was a queue. This is understandable on a Friday evening. However, there were several other tables available for the waiting parties, and only a few minutes (maximum 5) had passed since we were given the checks. Both myself and my colleague were upset by the manner in which we were interrupted and were asked to leave after eating, so I returned to speak to the manager about the quality of the conversation our waitress had with us. And this is perhaps where the most egregious part of the evening happened. I came back inside, asked to speak with a manager, and was told, and I quote "We're here to make money. When you're done eating, you gotta get out." As a regular customer, both at the restaurant itself and via online orders, I am pretty disgusted by the way my friend and I were treated this evening. I understand now that our waitress was likely following the management's orders. The man with whom I spoke stated that this was a restaurant policy (e.g. asking customers to leave right after they've finished their meal). I sincerely hope that it is not. Either way, however, I will no longer support Taco Fresco. Just thought you might want to know why. read more

I spoke with either the owner or the manager where he yelled at us in a very unprofessional manner and pretty much told us to fuck off. I like this place a lot! The menu has a lengthy section with vegetarian options, which I appreciate. Also sections such as Pig, Cow, probably Chicken. It was an interesting way to characterize the meat, or nonmeat, choices. I had I think it was called the Juarez Tofu Bowl. It didn't seem very Mexican. It may have been the first time in my life I had tofu, in at least an allegedly Mexican dish. It sure was tasty, however! It had rice and I think black beans and maybe pinto beans and probably some vegetables, although I don't recall, and some salsa and creamy white liquid. And the fried tofu was just exquisite. I also liked the dance music that was playing, even though it had nothing Mexican about it. The service was quite good, too. A very nice place. The one thing that surprised me was the Mellow Yellow soda I had cost $2.90 or $2.95. $1.50 would have been "reasonable" in my estimation. I had asked whether I could get a margarita. No. They can serve been and wine, however. It was a fun place with really good food. It's a 10/5, not 5/5. So freaking good. Hands down, best value in Whitewater, Wisconsin. Why is it the best value? Well, before getting into that, let me tell you... it is not only the best value, but perhaps the best overall restaurant in the area. First of all, the ambiance is great. It's lowkey, chill, and the music is lively but not too upbeat (think some mild psychedelic rock and 90s parties, perhaps beach night vibes). It's warm and relaxing, well lit but not too bright by any means, and the staff is genuinely warm as well. Their kindness is sincere and I don't feel that they are being anyone besides themselves: some friendly f**king people. Food: Fire. I got the Pulled Pork Bowl; quite refreshing. For the tacos they also offer a bowl option, wherein you'll get the ingredients of the desired taco as well as rice and beans and pico. The reason I say this is maybe the best restaurant in Whitewater is because at around $10, you get a bowl full of fresh vegetables, excellently cooked (tender, moist, freaking good) meat, and also sour cream and if you'd like, they offer salsa and hot sauce. I started writing this review about 5 minutes ago, took a break to eat some of their DELICIOUS AND CRISPY french-fries, and I am STILL sweating. I have been sweating for the last 10-15 minutes from one dallup of their hot sauce. When the chick says that the hotsauce kicksass, well holy sh*t... It's a great alternative to the rest of the restaurants on the main street strip. I swear every time I have delivery from here they cant handle reading the order and I pay for things that dont get delivered!
