Today we stopped at playa Vallarta. We ordered their new soft serve margaritas. They had pomegranate and mango but they were able to swirl the two. They were phenomenal. Our food was also so good. They were definitely a little bit pricy but really good! Our server Jonathan was very friendly and attentive to servicing us! Overall, a good experience dining here. It's a little off the beaten path, it's in a golf course. Service was friendly, and I came on BOGO margarita night which was convenient. Had lunch today. Food was ok. Nothing special. A party of 4. Placed the orders but there were some language issues. The wait person didn't understand english well. Other than that service was ok. Their chips and salsas were very good. We tried their standard red. They're green with some bite to it and a cheese dip. Taco salad with chicken was ok. Wife's enchiladas likewise. Crazy to think some of the best Mexican food I have ever had is in Jefferson, WI. Authentic food AND great service AND great drinks. But seriously- the food was sooooo good. It was hot, it was authentic and memorable. We had a quesadilla, Carnitas, and Pork Verde. The carnitas was YUMMY, Pork Verde was tender and flavorful. The Quesadilla was balanced and delicious. A mexican restaurant in small-town Wisconsin somehow sounds out of place, but I found my concerns were completely misguided. Cute and popular restaurant in downtown area of Main St. Well priced, generous portions and very tasty. Friendly and hard-working staff. Feels like family-owned. I came on a Sunday because they remained open longer than most area restsurants which close at 7. They were open until 9. Sang praises on my first or second visit to this place back around 18 months ago. Kitchen was clean and chef was meticulous. Must be another in that position. Latest visit was far off the mark. Sour tasting chicken, was inedible. Didn't asked for another option, considering if the spoiled chicken was being offered their must not be another fresher one waiting. Won't be returning. read more

I always know I am going to get a great meal here. I have tried more authentic dishes and more mainstream dishes and they are always delicious. The drinks are fantastic (both alcoholic and non). My kids love it, my friends love it and so do my coworkers. Never disappoints. read more

Great place for Mexican food if you're in the area! Was it the absolute best food I've ever had? No, but the portions are HUGE, the flavor is good, the selection is wide, and the complimentary chips and salsa are banging. I ordered the tacos, and I got one fish and two shredded pork. The fish was my favorite, but the pork was good too. The tacos were very generously filled, and they came with a huge side of rice and beans. My mom was pleased with her enchiladas de mesa, and my dad enjoyed his burrito mexicano with steak (which was actually two burritos). My mom enjoyed her margarita as well (which was also huge). Price was decent for how large the portions were, but it wasn't the most affordable Mexican food I've had (our bill for three with a margarita was $52 before tip). Laredo's in MADISON is our measurement standard against whom we rate other Mexican restaurants. Playa Vallarta rates out well in its menu. We loved the use of chorizo in many dishes. Speaking of dishes- all of our meals were piping hot and the plates were sizzling. The only issue we faced was that (like so many restaurants) they had little staff and as a result, the service was somewhat lacking. This is a vibrant restaurant with good Mexican in Jefferson. read more

They used to be in an historic restaurant location in downtown Jefferson but recently moved out to the east side of town to the former clubhouse/banquet hall of Jefferson Golf. The move has been very good, more natural lightening, better views, improved kitchen facility. My wife and I typically go there every other week-my weakness if for their Fajita del Mar or the Burrito Mexicano. Both are excellent and I usually get at least two lunches out of my leftovers! And now that they have stocked Voodoo Ranger IPA, I can enjoy an adult refreshment as my wife has her either margarita or Corona Premier. read more

We are local and decided to try Playa Vallarta last night. The chips and salsa were fantastic. Started out with a big bowl right away! We had Margaritas one on the rocks and one strawberry blended, both tasty!! Main meal was delicious.. well presented, and good chopped up chicken with great taste in my enchilada Swis, my husband had the Burrito Jalapeño.. he loved it..,both tasted good the next day!!
