My uncle recommended this place while we were in town, and took us out to dinner here. It didn't disappoint! Some of the best fresh chips I've ever had at a Mexican restaurant. His fish tacos looked amazing. The rest of us in our party ordered chimichangas. I ordered a shrimp chimi, and let me tell you they did not skimp on the shrimp like some places do. However, I find Cozumel a star above the rest for a few reasons: 1) the food was better than others I have been to 2) the amount of meat in my fajita burrito was crazy - they really give you quite a bit 3) I thought the prices were reasonable. While not as big as Janesville, the food here is the same. Very good. The service is alright. I personally like Janesvilles a little better, but it's not bad by a long shot. Personal preference. A Saturday drive an hour north and this is where we started our date night~ The place just opened for the evening and there were already 4-5 tables seated. Specials were posted clearly on the board by the hostess stand and the $2.99 basil margarita had my name all over it! We were greeted and sat within minutes, very friendly, clean dining room. Our waiter was very polite and made us feel very welcome. We had the shrimp tacos and the burrito deluxe (I had two margaritas...) . Everything was so good! Our bill was under $50.00 and we were stuffed..... We will be back for sure! read more

Never had anything bad here to eat and the service is always great. The only Mexican spot in Whitewater that we will go to.

The food is absolutely excellent. My dad and I had enchiladas with red mole sauce, a quesadilla, and the chips and salsa (the salsa is truly something to behold: it packs a huge punch of flavor, and also a small-medium punch of heat, which I think really sets it apart.) I'm at a bit of a loss how to describe the food. Maybe like "chicken soup for the soul" or "stick to your ribs"? I don't think either of those phrases really do justice. But food that I am sure is wonderful in any time, but if you are in hard times, will also give you a hug. read more

Great place for fajitas, they have a varied fajita menu from vegetarian to multiple meats. Other menu items are tasty as well. The Fajitas Rancheras are outstanding as are Tacos Campechanos. The Mojitos are great on the nights they have specials and the margaritas are decent. When Cozumel opened, I was happy to see an alterantive to the dumpy Mexican restaurants "downtown." Not a lot of options in Whitewater, but this is a good one. The carne asade was excellent for $10.00. Our server made us feel rushed after asking us on multiple occasions if we wanted our food wrapped up. Cozumel is hands down the best Mexican food I have had in Wisconsin so far. I feel that being from LA I am allowed to make that assessment and not fear that I may be wrong. The only down side is that its in Whitewater so unless you are in the area it would be very inconvenient. I've had their carnitas burritos which was really good!! They put corn in it which is something that if I knew would be in it, I would have asked that it be omitted but Im glad that I somehow glazed over it because it was really good. It gave it a sweet taste which is something you wouldnt expect to love in a burrito. I also had the mini tacos which are like the street tacos Im used to. Those were really good too!! Cozumel is great! They have huge portions and the prices are decent. The staff is nice too! Im looking forward to actually sitting down there for a meal instead of just ordering take out! read more

Who would have thought I had to come to Whitewater for awesome Mexican food?!?! I was floored and pleasantly surprised! My future sister in law's bachelorette party dinner was here on Saturday night. It was a huge party and they were very accommodating. There was a slight mix up with the food but that was on our end, and they were very patient with us figuring things out. The salsa was just right with that perfect kick to it. I had the chicken quesaedillas, perfect size and perfect price. Ample parking and seating. Colorful decor and music to go with it. Well I ate here twice in one week, so it must be good right? Yes sir! The decor is really interesting...hand painted tables, booths and chairs. We went for dinner and lunch and both were really good. The pollo hawaiiano was so good that I want the recipe to make it when I'm not in the neighborhood. The shrimp chimichanga was just as good. And the guac...don't get me started. Just the right amount of cilantro. So delicious! The booths do need a little work as you feel the others in the booth with every move they make. I would definitely level this out somehow! read more
