Cheese nachos with red and green sauce on top

Tex-Mex Nostalgia with a Loyal Following The Taco House in Milford is definitely not traditional Mexican cuisine, so if you're expecting authentic street tacos or fresh-made tortillas, you might be caught off guard. It leans more into that nostalgic Tex-Mex comfort food vibe -- and honestly, I think that's a big part of its charm and why it has such a loyal following. A lot of locals grew up with it, and I can see how those flavors bring back memories. I've been here a few times, and I do genuinely enjoy the nachos -- the cheese they use is fantastic, and their two homemade sauces (red and green) are both flavorful and addicting. Definitely recommend trying both! The all beef burrito seems to be a popular recommendation, but for me, it was just okay. Not bad by any means, but it didn't really stand out compared to other items on the menu. My personal favorite? The sampler. It's a great way to get a little bit of everything, and I especially love the cheese enchiladas -- super satisfying and cheesy in the best way. One small thing to note: tap water isn't free. They charge a few cents for the cup, which surprised me, so just a heads-up if you're dining in. The waitress at the counter was a polite no complaints about service.

Another staple in the Boji area. Stopped in for a quick lunch. Always long lines. Take it to go! Basic tacos and nachos-so good!

Ummm, broken in half crunchy taco shells, anyone? I had heard some good reviews about this place, but I was a little shocked when we got our food. We had ordered a taco salad which was really just some components on a plate with a broken crunchy taco shell on top. Nacho Royals were the same crunchy taco shells broken in pieces. And yes, the chips and guac were just crunchy taco shells broken in half. Honestly, it's a far cry from 'authentic' Mexican food, but half step better than fast food. Be prepared, the workers are a little edgy and don't seem to have the usual Iowan friendliness. I'd recommend coming here if you want to enjoy broken crunchy taco shells.

Baby plate, nachos, all beef burrito. Put the hot sauce all over everything!

Not even close to authentic. Went there once, never again. I just think people think it's the trendy place to eat.

The food was not authentic Mexican food. We ate a fajita and it tasted like cinnamon do not come here.

Onion rings were just meh, crispy, but had absolutely no taste of onions what so ever, too salty and really, really really greasy. Coney dogs were not good, the chili had a nasty consistency. We won't go back! Good service by the cashier that waited on us, but when asked questions about availability of sugar free Dilly Bars, the other employee that took over my question was extremely poor in communication skills and he was rude. His response was a vague mumble rather than a clear and concise answer. I didn't repeat my question as evidently he didn't care as his back was to me most of the time. Needless to say neither of us got ice cream, we just left... The price is too high for food that lacks any quality. I would suggest passing this place and go elsewhere, unless you just want/NEED ice cream.

This DQ had a little more local colour. We were served by "biker gal", who then handed us off as she transitioned to the drive through window. Gayle and my son had their usual (chocolate dipped cone and butterscotch sundae respectively), while I spread my wings with an Oreo and cookie dough blizzard. Once fueled and refreshed, we headed off to our next stop - clothes shopping at 3 Sons!

We had plenty of time and I thought that we'd both enjoy a little exploration around West Lake Okoboji first. Duke's (in the former Woody's Pizza building) is now closed on Monday and while turning around through Arnold's Park, I noticed Bob's on the water right next to the Fillenwarth Beach Resort. Bob's is casual and inexpensive. There's a limited menu selection of Hot Dogs, Sloppy Joes (called the Varsity), Chicken Tenders, Fries, Onion Rings, and the like. You order at the counter and they will bring the food out to you. My Son and I decided to sit on the deck and enjoyed a wonderful view of the Lake (and a Regatta in progress) on this gorgeous "not too hot or humid" day. The food itself is probably 3 stars, but for where you are, and why I'm here, this total experience makes me a fan.
