The first thing that surprised me was the consommé. It was clean, well balanced, and full of flavor without feeling overly rich. Dipping the quesadilla into the broth completely changed the experience, and I can see why this combination has become such a classic. The carnitas taco was probably my least favorite of the two. It was good, just not quite as memorable as the quesadilla. That said, it was still generously filled with meat and toppings, making every bite satisfying. Before discovering Plaza Latina, I honestly thought I had to head downtown whenever I wanted really good Mexican food. Turns out I was completely wrong. This place made me realize there is an entire community of regional Mexican cooking much closer than I expected. The owners were incredibly warm and welcoming. We did not share much of a common language, but genuine hospitality never really needs translation. I left wishing I could have stayed longer and chatted with them. Generously topped with cilantro and onion. The broth is also a hearty portion. Deep beefy, warm flavour with a slight tang -- I felt like drinking the whole thing! (I didn't try the taco, but my friend said the birria was probably a better choice.) The owner couple are so delightfully cheerful. This Quesada is where Quiznos used to be. It's next to the former Lick's Hamburgers. It changed names and offered the same menu, but it looked like it was closed for good when I saw it. Sad. I got the following items: - Mexican street corn (limited time) - Burrito bowl with grilled chicken and guacamole I like that I was able to customize my burrito bowl. I got these ingredients: - Grilled chicken - Black beans - Refried beans - Chipotle tomato salsa - Monterey jack cheese - Smoked paprika mayo and vegan sauces - Shredded lettuce (base) - Guacamole (extra charge) - Diced tomatoes - Corn - Red onion - Mexican street slaw The app said that my order would be ready in fifteen minutes. It was more than enough time to find an item at Best Buy and pay for it before I fetched my food. There is plenty of parking in this corner. Quesada is steps away from Best Buy, so it was convenient to walk over after shopping there. I stood where the pickup area was. A woman said hi. I indicated that I was picking up an order and showed the order number from my app. The woman nodded and said that she was nearly done putting it together. I got notification that it was ready, but it appeared that this place was busy putting together two other orders. The store looked clean and cheerful. It does not resemble the old Quiznos interior and structure at all. I waited for probably five minutes before my order was ready. It was in a paper bag. I thanked the man who handed it to me and left the store to drive home. I got home and chowed down. I started with the Mexican street corn. It comes in small and large sizes. I got the small, which ended up being in two little containers. I love corn. This Mexican street corn is a westernized rendition. I liked it. The corn was perfect. There was cheese and cilantro, lime, a bit of chile, and dressing. The dressing was supposed to be creamy, but I didn't see anything creamy about it. I went with the smoked paprika mayo. It was to my liking. I've had over-cheesy, creamy Mexican street corn and I didn't enjoy it. I'd get the large next time. My burrito bowl was made as instructed. You get the option of a rice or lettuce base. I got the latter, which is my usual. The grilled chicken was yummy and perfectly grilled. All ingredients were fresh. The two sauces united everything, creating one happy bowl of goodness. It was delicious. I'm so glad that I finally got some food here. There wasn't a BOGO deal when I placed my order. I see that there is now. I may need to take advantage of it soon my making a return visit. I had a wonderful experience. I love a good burrito bowl and this place makes a yummy one. (184)

I said that I had an order under my name. She nodded. She packed both my food items in a paper bag and carefully handed it to me. She reminded me that I had a drink and I could choose one from the fridge. I thanked her and headed over to fetch my drink. I loved the variety of beverages. I went with a bottle of guava Jarritos. I then headed to my car. I placed my food and drink in an insulated bag, and took highway 401 home, followed by backroads. I wish that this highway flowed so well all the time. When I got home, I had dinner. I was excited. The Dorilocos appealed to me. It's a snacky item featuring a bag of Doritos topped with either ground beef or beans, queso sauce, lettuce, and tomatoes. I went with ground beef. The bag was sealed and placed in a container with a fork. It was fun eating this snack out of the bag. It was delicious! I loved my holy goalie classic burrito. It was hefty! It was fun customizing my burrito: - Whole wheat wrap - Rice - Refried beans - Chipotle tomato sauce (mild) - Chipotle mayo - Cheese - Corn - Mexican street slaw - Pickled onions This burrito was packed with a ton of flavour. The ingredients tasted fresh. The wrapper was solid. It was nicely grilled and still hot. So good! The Jarritos cap does not twist off. I used a bottle opener to pop the cap off. I noticed the lunch specials and asked for the beef soup, which was unfortunately not available when I went. I got the chicken tortilla soup instead. Along with the small soup, 2 taco's were included so I got a braised beef and a shrimp with the option of hard or soft shells. Cost for the special was $13.99 and did not included drink. The soup was very tasty! It came out piping hot and delicious. Nice chunks of white chicken meat along with tortilla bits and vegetables made for a hearty side. Since the bowl was a small, this could not be counted on to satisfy one's hunger, so luckily there were 2 tacos as well. You get to choose the no-charge extras for the taco, which included pico de Gallo, salsa, etc. This step reminded me of Chipotle, and other chains where they ask you about the options. Mexican places I've been to just load it up the way they like it and hand it over. The shrimp was very good, but with only a couple battered shrimp on board, lacked substantibility. The beef was better with a more normal amount of filling. Both were very good! With a 15% tip, my bill came to $18.18 which seemed pricey especially given that a drink was not included. With a drink the bill would be over $20. Fairly expensive for a lunch special and without a dining room, didn't add any advantage over a typical taco joint found anywhere else. They're covered with diced tomato, green onion, sweet peppers, nacho cheese, sour cream, and jalapenos. We got 2 orders of this to share and asked for one without jalapenos. The serving size for this is huge! If you've ever had the fries supreme from Taco Bell, it's like 4 servings of this per box. We also each ordered a Jarritos which is a Mexican soda.
