    Asada burrito
    Alex H.

I went on a Thursday midday and there were still a few people in line ahead of me! Great to see they're busy on a weekday! The cashier taking orders inside was very kind and helped answer any questions I had about the menu. If it wasn't raining, I would've checked out the patio but the seating inside was still nice and clean. The burrito was amazing! I got the asada burrito with medium hot sauce (which comes on the side). This allowed me to evenly distribute the amount of sauce that's good for me. I can't wait to come back and try other items on the menu.

We came here for lunch during a work day. The food was really good. My favourite was the chicken taco! We love how loaded the tacos are. The Kensington location also had a backyard patio, which was perfect for the summer. The service is a little slow, so do plan ahead with the wait time. We went around 11:40 and by the time we finished, there was a long line waiting. One thing that's great about this place is that they bring their tacos to your table.

The absolute worst bean and cheese burrito I have ever had. No word of a lie there are much better burritos at Taco Bell. There were hardly any beans at all it was all overwhelmed with fresh cheese. Not to mention they charged me $20+ for it and it took 40 minutes to make. I shared two pictures to show you what I'm talking about. They should be ashamed for serving this.

I went here on a busy night and so we did have to wait a while but it was wonderful. The person who was taking our order was really friendly and patient with everyone. The venue itself is small and tired but has a very fun vibe. The tacos were amazing. I got a few different ones to try and honestly I can't pick a favorite. I will say that I highly suggest getting the consommé to dip your tacos in. We got the lamb consommé and it was fabulous.

Thought I would give Seven Lives a break and we'll Gus Tacos did not disappoint. Delish! I went for lunch. It was past 11am so it wasn't busy. I ordered the guacamole and chips and a fish and chicken taco. Super delicious!! Fresh food, fast service. I obviously ordered too much food for one person but I wanted to try everything. I will have to make another trip to try out other items like the shrimp or beef tacos and the burritos. My favourite was the fish taco, the breading was flavourful....mouth is watering just thinking about it

I enjoyed my visit and the food I had. It started off very well with Felipe over at the counter helping us with our order. He was friendly and very accommodating. Felipe properly explained the menu items and also gave some welcome suggestions. There was also a good range of menu items, both price range wise and flavours for their tacos, burritos, and quesadillas. We had the asada taco and quesa dilla birrias, both of which are extremely good. The ambiance and authenticity of the food place was something I also appreciated. There were a lot of latinos (or at least Spanish speakers) among the customers, and that is one good indicator that says that they are doing something right with their food. Gus Tacos operates on a very small, narrow place, but that is easy to ignore with all the other things going right with the taqueria.

Came here after eating at dumpling house in Chinatown, and grabbed a quick drink (nothing beats a cold glass of coke on a humid day) while friends grabbed tacos. Staff are quick and friendly to take your order and the place smells wonderful. Friends loved their tacos. Love that there's a patio in the back for extra seating - it a quiet and spacious. There are also lots of food delivery drivers waiting on their bikes across the street because of how popular this place is!

Had very high hopes for this based on reviews from Kensington market locations to hit up. For $5 a taco the prices are not steep but the size is not huge. The quesadilla is not a large one either which is why it's probably $7, but it was much more flavorful and I much preferred it to the tacos. Horchata - more authentic tasting that has that grainy taste more than just powder that dissolves. Decent overall Quesadilla - carnitas - little oily but with that comes a lot of flavor and definitely enjoyed Tacos - pastor, asada, and pescado - my favorite was actually the battered fish. Each has a slight different topping but some tasted dry so I liked to add the salsa. Staff was nice, there's not a lot of space despite a decent number of seats it's very narrow, food is decent but nothing amazing Ambiance: 3/5 Food: 4/5 Service: 4/5

Our new favourite place for tacos! Amazing tacos and great prices. We got carnitas (braised pork), barbacoa (braised lamb), and pescado (battered fish). The pork and lamb were delicious - especially the pork! Lots of flavour and not dry at all. Pair it with their orange hot sauce and it was perfection. The fish was good as well but I prefer the fish taco from Seven Lives a bit more.

These are so dry tacos. Holayy I ordered the steak and shrimp and had a really hard time swallowing. Flavour wise, the steak is definitely flavoured well while the shrimp not so much as it's battered. You do get to pick how hot you want it and I said spicy and that's what I was given. The people are very nice and ordering is a breeze. The place is also pretty big and spacious so there room to come with friend. I don't remember if they have a patio or not. Sorry.

Wow ! Hands down to the best tacos I've ever tried in Toronto . This place was so good . Real authentic tacos , service was quick , food was delicious , and prices are awesome. Definitely will be going back . You order at the cash and then sit down and wait for your tacos so definite nothing fancy , but of course real mexican tacos .

Came by for lunch and tried the pastor, barbacoa and fried pescado tacos. Great prices and clean spot. The tacos tasted good and made with fresh ingredients. the barbacoa is pretty gamey which I didn't mind but the pastor was a touch dry. I went with their medium spicy salsa which wasn't too spicy for me. The taco sizes are pretty standard, nothing particular impressive but definitely fair for the price. The service is nice and friendly.

This place seemed popular so decided to give it a try. Ordered the Taco Pollo (chicken) and Taco Asada (beef). The chicken taco - the meat needed more seasoning - bland. It was a lot of meat to fit in the taco so there was no balance to meat ratio. The beef taco was OK. This taco had more taste. I would try somewhere next time.

The place is a bit small so it can be a bit tight so I would highly recommend having reservations if you have a large group. Tacos: The soft and the crispy tacos were both delicious. Parking was a challenge, but there is a Green P that is about 5-8 minutes away that isn't too bad if the weather is good. The atmosphere is quite intimate and I did find myself bumping into other people / staff when going to and from the washroom, etc. The food was pretty good - the tacos were full of flavour and I got to try a variety by sharing with the group. I think my favourite was the beef barbacoa. The prices are definitely a bit up there for a Mexican restaurant, I believe the tacos were around $7 each. The quality made it worth it, but there's definitely other places in Toronto that serve up a great taco for nearly half the price. We also tried a couple of appetizers, including the nachos, guac and ceviche. The nachos were something special - it was a bit of a nacho pizza. I didn't expect that from Playa Cabana, given everything else was very authentic. The taste was good, but it was a bit of a challenge to share! The highlight of the night was definitely the desserts - we ordered the tres leches cake, and the churros. Definitely the best churro I've ever had.

We got lucky and they were able to squeeze us into seats at the bar area, which ended up being the best possible spot because we had a front-row view of the live fire cooking the entire night. The ambiance was lively and hip, with a great energy that made the whole experience feel exciting. This was my first time watching each main courses get cooked over live fire in real time, which added to our amazement given that all the dishes came out cooked to the right doneness. Every bite of meat and seafood was perfectly kissed with flame -- the char, the subtle smoke, the texture. Beyond the fire element, you can really taste how fresh everything is. Nothing felt heavy or muddled. Each dish was well thought out with balanced flavors, but the ingredients and that fire/smoke magic were always the main event. Service was also superb. All the staff were attentive and high-energy. Different servers checked up on us throughout the meal, our water was always kept full, and dishes were cleared in a timely manner. Only drawback: the heat. Sitting by the fire is incredible for the show, but it definitely started to feel like a sauna at times. Still, I'd do it again and choose to sit at the bar without hesitation. If you're in Toronto and you love a tasting menu, this is a must. Just make sure you book at least a month in advance - it's popular for a reason.

The inside was nice, it was dark with ambient lighting and decorated with a modern and Mexican theme. The waitress was super nice, and the staff were fairly attentive. We got the chips and guac to start. I do wish they gave a little bit more walk because it came in this really small cup so we had to go light on the guac to chip ratio. But overall the guac was yummy and the chips were very crunchy with a nice seasoning. They have a special every day of the week and Thursdays are there crunch tacos, which are hard shell tacos, wrapped in a soft shell taco with some sauce in between, and you can choose between their chorizo or chicken. We got one of each. I liked the chicken more but my partner liked the Chorizo. And all the toppings the perfect Fixin's. You enter the restaurant from a set of stairs outside and the restaurant doesn't look too appealing from outside. Also, the restaurant always seems busy and/or small, so it's always loud and service is slow. With the negatives out of the way, let me explain why I love La Carnita! The food is amazing! Their tacos are on point, and with so many to choose from I can go back multiple times can never get bored. Each of their tacos has something different to offer and each has relatively good balance to them. The balance of freshness and savory (and sometimes sweet) toppings is well done, making me come back for more. The one item that pushes La Carnita over the top is their nachos! Homemade nacho chips with gooey cheese and a generous amount of toppings makes them my favorite nachos in Toronto! One last observation is that the service is always friendly. They may be (very) slow at times but they seem like they always try their best and are always quite pleasant. Overall, I love La Carnita and when I get a craving for tacos and nachos, I'm heading straight here!
