Well, they are open today, on a day they're typically closed, because they're under new management! It's a soft opening, so they're not charging for their food!!! So, at that price, the service is exceptional! The food appears to be as good as it always is! Nothing appears to change on the interior... so it's continues to be slightly like a hole in the wall type of place, but clean and nice! Have always loved this place, highly recommend it! Taco Hutch has been around for over 50 yrs. The chain ran throughout the lower Midwest and is still found in some areas. It's nothing fancy, just good 'ol made fresh wholesome comfort food that's not made with a lot of extra ingredients to give it flavor. I grew up in Manhattan with a Taco Hut right down the street. Sadly, that Taco Hut is no longer there. Every year since it closed I have made a voyage to Hutch to taste that nostalgic deliciousness. While there a few differences the general taste remains the same. You don't go to Taco Hut for a gourmet meal. You go for the most amazing meal that this particular genre of cheap unauthentic Mexican food has to offer. I have yet to find anything that truly compares to Taco Hut and it forever will hold a place in my heart. I highly recommend a cheese covered burrito (smothered in both their mild and hot sauce) and a taco burger (also smothered in sauce). read more

This place could possibly be my greatest sacrifice when it comes to going vegetarian. I LOVE Taco Hut tacos, I always completely stuff myself on them. They're a bit messy and tend to get soggy quick, so eat fast. Nearly everything here is good and its pretty cheap. Don't go in expecting REAL Mexican food, as this is not what you will get. Oh man . . . a visit to Taco Hut is A MUST when passing through Hutchinson! I don't know what to say about this place except that the meat is saucey, messy, and yummy . . . not to mention the 3 flavors of hot sauce which I like to drench everything in. Everything is good there, just bring a bib and prepare to stuff yourself. The soda is particularly refreshing as well, and they have crushed ice for their drinks, which always adds a little something for me :). ...just don't expect an "authentic" Mexican food experience. It's not authentic. It's cheap. It's fast. In no way do I mean any of those statements as negatives at this place. Sometimes, you just need a hot and greasy taco served within a few moments time. That's exactly what I got here when I visited. Seems like Hutch's answer to Wichita's Taco Rio. Similar food & facilities at about the same price. I prefer this place a little more though. I expect a little more from my Mexican food most times, but at others, I don't mind something a little quicker and Taco Hut definitely delivers. Always seems best on colder days though. read more

When you eat here you usually love it or hate it. I love it. I've been eating there for years. We don't eat out that much but I'm always ready for Nacho Supremo. The meat is different because it's steamed rather than fried. I didn't care for the meat the first few times I ate there but it didn't take long to start craving it. Contrary to the other reviews, I did not experience the heightened sense of euphoria after indulging in 3 tacos for $2.50....I think I will stick to actual heroin for that! Thanks! I do concur though that the Jukebox was a rare treat, though the speakers were muffled so it sounded like the band was stuck in a giant sock. If you miss school cafeteria nachos, I imagine this place is your best option (much better than breaking into school in the middle of the night and trying to figure out how to use industrial-strength reheating equipment). Postscript - I had to log back in and majorly downgrade this place! Usually, my farts don't bother me -- but after a few hours of post-Taco Hut "digestion," I found I was chasing myself out of the room! I was very disappointed in my visit to Taco Hut. The staff is very friendly but thats the only good thing about the place. The food wasn't great. If you like school cafeteria food then by all means, go there. Don't expect anything freshly cooked. Not impressed at all and definitely won't ever be coming back. read more

Taco Hut has been sitting on 30th Street in Hutchinson for four decades. I know that because my wife worked there when she was in college in the mid-1970s. And every time we make a return to Hutch, there's the obligatory visit to Taco Hut. We took the kids when they were little, and now we take the grandkids. The menu gets tweaked from time-to-time, but the popular items have remained consistent over time. This is a fun joint with a very customizable menu and great tasting food. The meat and cheese nachos are one of my personal favorites, and everything else I've tried has been quite good. The service is also fast and friendly. My only qualm is that it can tend to get a little pricey when you are hungry; I generally spend about ten dollars on a meal here getting just the order of nachos and a drink which I feel is a little bit too much for what it is, but besides that I would definitely recommend it. read more

My brother and I had heard a lot about how good Taco Hut is, so we decided to give it a go... Now I wish we had not! I am dairy-free, so I'm already quite aware that there are many things I cannot have. However, the amount of cheese that came with my chicken tostada was utterly disgusting. (We measured. It was a half cup!) As mentioned before, I had the chicken tostada, which was still cold. With it, I had a side of refried beans, also covered in cheese. Luckily, this cheese I was able to scrape off. My brother ordered a chili taco; basically a refried bean enchilada with something like sloppy-joe mix lathered all over the top. To be honest, it tasted a lot like cafeteria food. It was also disappointingly pricey. We're both students, so the $10.10 total was frustrating for a bad meal. The final thing that stood out to us was the salsa... It wasn't salsa, or sauce at all. It was a strawberry-based something-or-other. Truly, I have not one clue what it might be used for, but I know tacos should not be one of them. Conclusively, I will not being returning to Taco Hut. Neither will my brother. Props to your home-town ambiance and friendly service, but unfortunately, that's not enough to keep these two as customers. read more

I know taco but isn't authentic Mexican food, but it's is worth a try!! It is hands down one of my favorite Mexican joints in Hutchinson!! The cheese is always freshly shredded. The veggies on my burrito supreme are fresh!! My 2 year old loves there baby bowls. It really clean also!! Plus the best Pepsi in town!!! I was surprised to see this has only 3 stars.
