This is the first time I've had fast food in I don't know how long- over 5 years. I came here because it was quick and my daughter was in between games for a bball tournament. I ordered the B4 small combo which is the chorizo breakfast burrito. I added cheese for the potato oles. The total came to over $10. The burrito was warm but not hot. It was ok- it had jalapeños and hot sauce. The oles were good- crunchy like they should be. I already hate myself for eating this and I won't eat fast food for probably even longer. Hadn't been to a Taco John's in quite a few years, and this stop ended up being pretty good. We were greeted the minute we opened the door, so they were anxious to get our order in. We both got the Chicken Boss Bowl, and my wife needed to adjust hers to remove some of the dairy, and they got the order right. You'd like to think that would be a given, but it's just not the case. Food was fine...typical fast food fare. Chicken was a bit dry, but the other items in the bowl helped mask that. The dining area was clean and the food came out fast. I don't come for 6 months or more, give em another chance, and this: I was Just informed that I can no longer return thru the drive thru. Told me I they'd say the same thing if I were on my Harley. Lobby is closed, and can't use drive thru on a bicycle, personal vehicle, motorcycle (YES, I specifically asked) or walking. Essentially being discriminated against based on how you as a patron arrive to the store. With a closed lobby we have no way of picking up our order, and this carries over to anyone on a motorcycle, personal vehicle, bicycle, or just walking (she told me I could NOT go park my vehicle and walk up for my order) Ended up being scolded for trying to enjoy our night on two wheels (the store was dead and hasn't seen another customer in the 20 mins ive been thinking/typing). Essentially we weren't affecting anything at the store and were on 100% road legal transportation, so this interaction was pointless imo. A smile with our order would've been much more appreciated than being battered. Does she say the same thing to the guys needing food when plowing with ATVs and UTVs in the winter? I'm trying to figure out where the cutoff is and what it is exactly that I did wrong. It takes significantly less effort to just be a good person and go on about your day. There are so many people trying to infringe on things that have 0 pertinence to them- my cashier at a fast food restaurant shouldn't be one of them. My hope is that someone reaches out to let me know what I can and can't do because riding up on this or my Harley and then being refused service seems insane as the customer. Feeling like there's no way to have a positive interaction with the employees after lobby hours unless I show up by sedan is a real problem. This is too small of a town to deter business (or better yet, create interactions that leave customers with a distaste for the business) for no reason. read more

I can't even give it 1 star but I have to put one for whatever reason!!!! we were cussed at and told we had a few seconds already when tryin to order.. the worker named lacy told me to take my "pet" as in my HUSBAND and leave. the GM apparently told her to just be nice. Nothing happen to this worker!!!! So it's ok for them to treat people horrible bc my husband use to work there almost 3 yrs ago?!? and she's a shift lead!!! Absolutely sickening!!!! I ordered a street taco trio and a boss bowl and they rang up one street taco and a boss burrito which my gf could not eat because of a gluten intolerance. They fixed the burrito and made it a bowl but then I drove home only to find I was eating one small street taco for lunch. The boss bowl came in a medium combo but somehow my bill was still $22 for one combo and one measly street taco. Very unimpressed, as I am with every taco johns I've visited recently. read more

Hi. Yeah, uh, I want some hard-shell tacos, I'm not sure how many. More than four, less than ten....let me think for a second... What's that? Yeah, sure, six seems about right. Okay, so six tacos. And then, I want some potato oles. Large doesn't seem quite big enough. How many oles are there in a large, anyway? I mean, maybe you could sell them by the count, or....some other measurement. How much? A pound of oles? That really seems like a lot, but then again, it is quite late at night, and I've drunk a surprising amount of Hawkeye vodka. So, sure. I guess that makes it six tacos and---although I don't see this size under the potato ole section of the menu---a pound of oles. How much IS a pound of potato oles going to be, anyway? Really? You're shitting me. Really? A special for just this kind of occasion? Who in the world would have figured there would be such a high demand for exactly six tacos and exactly a pound of potato oles. I mean, this has got to be like....4000 calories. You guys really have so many people ask for this that it has its own special? Well, I agree, that IS a catchy name. Never thought of it like that. One of the few places in Grinnell that doesn't close at the crack of sunset lol. I gained A LOT of weight while in Grinnell from eating a lot of Taco John's. So it should go without saying that this is not the place to go if you're on a diet lol. The food was usually good, with the occasional mishap. read more

I just love Taco Johns okay. Last summer it was a bit sketch but it's gotten a lot better. Pete is groovy.

Typical taco johns. Most of the staff is good. Had a few who remembered who we are. Love seeing the same few over and over. Did have some really good staff too! This is my son's favorite place for fast food. We often just do drive through and eat it at home. When we do eat inside at the place is clean. read more

There is no finer fast food fried potato product in America than the Taco John's Potato Ole. YUM! And, Taco John's ground beef is more well-seasoned than other fast food Mexican restaurants. Also, their variety of salsas is great. Then, you get those incredible cinnamon bites for dessert. Try it! read more

Worst food I've ever had! How are taco and cheese quesadillas done wrong. The tacos were cold and flavorless and the quesadilla tasted like watery nacho cheese filled in a plastic wrap. Don't ever eat here. I'd rather eat garbage then come back again. read more
