$30-50 Grilled Chicken Salad and wings were amazing! I've had the Prime Rib Philly before, yummm peppers and onions! Taaasty!!! seasoned just right! Chaz, the wait staff and everyone else go above and beyond to make sure you have a good meal! I will be going back for dinner 8-29-25 Want me some Steak!! Oh yeah! Had me a T-Bone and a Ribeye! They had a Ancho option, didn't want it spicy tonight though. I will be back again tomorrow night! Man, the aromas from the Pork Chops and I seen the Salmon come out! Oh yeah! worst experience at a steakhouse ever. Took nearly 20 minutes for the waiter to even come and ask what we wanted to drink. One of our drinks had a hair in it. The bread was not fresh. Ordered a $40 steak, medium rare and it came out well done, very poorly seasoned. Tasted like a $12 truck stop steak. Service was atrocious. Never got a drink refill. Couldn't even get the waiter to bring our check and had to go stand up by the register until someone noticed. read more

Went in for a mid afternoon snack, got the trio appetizer combo. Onion rings were fantastic. Absolutely love the breading. And I'm pretty picky with my onion rings. Not a huge fan of pepper jack but even the pepper jack cheese sticks were good. I don't eat chicken wings but BF Liked them. Server was really nice, and it was just us and 2 other people in there so pretty quiet. Not a fan of there rolls tho, it's like they try to be Texas Roadhouse but don't pass the vibe check lol. The night staff is absolutely terrible, our service was terrible, the waiters stood at the front desk and talked the whole time and didn't help out my table. The food had to be sent back 2-3 times before it was done how it was supposed to be the first time/ how everyone wanted there steak. My food was cold. I didn't get my salad until way after my food was there when that should've been the first thing there. I DO NOT RECOMMEND going here! We were getting ignored the whole time. We ended up here on our anniversary and we were very pleased. The food was satisfying, but the service was impeccable. My wife's steak was about two steps under the ordered temp. Both the very pleasant server and a gentleman from the kitchen were attentive and kind,. They moved very quickly to take care of it. We couldn't have been more impressed by their reactions and their finesse in taking care of it. While we were offered a free dessert for the 'trouble', there was no need. BTW, the ancho seasoning and butter is a great choice on the sirloin. The peppers definitely lent their flavor by being cooked with it too instead of being added in afterward. Loved the ribs. They were just as "fall off the bone" as advertised and the sauce was light and tangy. Sometimes I like a dark, heavy sauce, but I really enjoyed what they put on theirs. Okra tasted fresh and I love when it's lightly battered enough that you can see the green and taste the veg and not just fried batter! The caesar salad had too much cheese -and if you knew the wife and I, that's not a phrase you've heard from us before. Still, we really appreciated that the salad and sides came in metal dishes to help preserve the temperatures. Honestly this was a consolation choice because the other spots we thought of going were closed on Mondays. However, we were so happy to end up at a spot where employees made us a priority and where the food left us smiling overall. the food was perfect. absolutely delicious. our server, sara, made this experience terrible. we were not given the bread and butter when we sat down, we didn't even know it was a thing until we saw everyone around us given a basket. we ordered our drinks, appetizer, and meals all at the same time. drinks took 15 minutes to come out. then the food. i never got my salad, although my husband did. we cancelled our appetizer because it never came out, then she told us she forgot to even put the appetizer in. we asked about the bread that we never received and she very rudely said "i'll get it" then time to pay. she gave us our receipt and i waited over 10 minutes for her to come back to get the card to pay. i walked up to the front and just brought the receipt myself to pay. so, while the food was fantastic, we will not be coming back only due to the service we received. read more

Me and my husband have been going here a lot lately. The food was amazing. Everything tasted good; they are very active with their customers, always coming to see how everything tastes and if you need anything, the service is fast, the only downfall is the wait times but that's no biggie. The employees always have good attitudes, always smiling. Even with new employees, the service runs smoothly and you don't have to wait as long as most places. i highly recommend this place for a date night or if you like high priced steak. the price is definitely worth what you're getting. read more

We ate here tonight as we have several times before. My wife ordered the glacial salmon as pictured right off their menu on their website. She has had this several times before and enjoyed it. We have both had broccoli before as she did tonight. However tonight the salmon and broccoli were for some reason doused with ancho chili powder. When we asked our server if this was a new thing she said she did not know because it was her second week...fair enough. After telling us she worked there 12 years. The food was delicious. We got pork tenderloin sandwiches. We were impressed the fries were cut from real potatoes. Typical midwestern steakhouse. Our server was asked for silverware, pepper and water 3 separate times before I was able to request them from someone else. Right now they have an awesome treat for guests due to Covid-19. The immense blessing they are doing is adding a $5 surcharge for any meat selection. So if you're willing to encounter much thirst and pay for the small business owner's challenges, then definitely come here. read more

Considering my poor experience at the Des Moines location, I was a little apprehensive about making a return visit, but I noticed this location was rated higher than the DSM store. Decided to take Mom for a very belated Mother's Day dinner. I'm glad I made the trip, at least for Mom's sake, as she was very pleased. Our server was Ellie, a girl who was at least a foot taller than me. We received interesting (yellow inside) rolls with cinnamon butter immediately. However, it didn't appear these were unlimited. We ordered potato boats as an appetizer. These are served with ranch, but I was able to secure some sour cream as well. The potato skins were cooked well, with a nice crisp to them, yet the inside featured melted cheese and peppered bacon. The 6 oz. sirloin is on special on Tuesdays for $9.99. You get your choice of a salad and one side, or two sides. The Caesar salad was average, nothing outstanding, but nothing poor about it. I would note for purists that I did not detect any anchovy in the dressing. The baked potato was large and comes with the standard butter and/or sour cream. You can "load" it (not sure with what) for an extra $1.29. Some small things would make this a better establishment. A pepper grinder would be nice, instead of commercial grade salt and pepper shakers. Some seasoning on the steak would help a great deal as well. Lose the house brand steak sauce--it was worse than Heinz 57. Service was great, Ellie came back several times to check on us, make sure we had enough condiments, etc. read more

My husband and I were staying at a hotel nearby and were so excited to be able to have a steak dinner. OK, I get it, we could eat in, but we were just drained from our trip, so we wanted to relax. BUT.....I would assume you would give us silverware that actually cut the steak from a steak house. Maybe? The lightweight plastic we got wouldn't have cut pancakes much less a sirloin steak. Food tasted wonderful, however, I was kind of hoping to actually see the meat under the mushrooms. My tips turned into rice, mushroom and steak soup. Very unappetizing. Tasted good, but very brown. I've been a regular here, and lately I haven't been going as often. But I can certainly say ALL of my experiences at Montana Mike's have been good experiences. Their complimentary rolls with cinnamon butter are the best! I generally get the steak and grilled shrimp, which is my favorite. The steaks are always cooked to perfection with a wonderful blend of seasoning that makes your mouth water. Even the simpler things like the salads and baked potatoes taste fantastic. The servers that have helped me have always been knowledgeable and friendly, with just the right amount of attentiveness. Additionally, I believe this is the one place where I've never had a problem with the cleanliness of the restroom. Overall, Montana Mike's is definitely one of my favorite spots in Newton! read more

Great service! Good food! Greeted warmly as we entered. Isaac was friendly and very helpful. He asked if we were warm enough and turned up the heat on a cold winter night. Our group filtered in and he didn't miss a beat with drinks. Tasted a friend's onion ring appetizer and they were good! I had a buffalo chicken salad. Creamy Parmesan dressing was great! Very good. Chicken was tender and spicy but not overly. Crunchy nuts and strips were just right. Husband's ribeye steak was a hair over cooked. Ordered medium rare and was closer to medium. But still a good steak. Bread with cinnamon butter was brought out right away. Tasty. Good place for a big group. Presentation of food would be enhanced by some colorful broccoli or carrots.
