I love Taco Mexico most of the time but I ordered the taco salad for the first time and I couldn't eat it. The shell was soggy with grease, the lettuce was wilted and the toppings were so bad I couldn't stand the taste. I got the beef, which was both fatty and chewy. Ew! For Big Fork Montana, the food here is good! The salsa was fresh and perfect. The beans and rice were as I'd expect in San Antonio. The corn tortillas, cheese and sour cream for the beef enchiladas were authentic. The beef itself was good quality shredded roast, but lacked cooked in spice flavor. The only thing that could be improved for authenticity is the red sauce on the enchiladas. Instead of brownish savory gravy, it was bright red freshly made tomato sauce - perhaps more suited for a pasta dish than Mexican enchiladas. But, hey, that's just my opinion. I am originally from California, and as most Californians know it 's not easy to find Mexican quite like the Mexican food in California. I would say that Taco Mexico comes the closest. Recently we stopped in and they have expanded the restaurant. It's always clean, the staff is friendly, and the service is quick and consistent. My mom had the two tacos plate with chicken. I had the chimichanga with carne asada. Everything was fresh, hot, and delicious! The only complaint I have is on my chimichanga. It was mostly beans. The carne asada was tiny bits and there was not much of it. I doubt if there was a quarter of a cup of meat. Not very California like. For $15.99 I'd expect more. So disappointed in the food and service tonight. I ordered the fajita, and they were SMOTHERED in red sauce. It does not state this on the menu, it does say served with yummy red sauce. We have been to every Mexican restaurant in the Kalispell/Bigfork area and have found our favorite ! I had Carme Asada that was very good and wifey have chicken enchiladas that she was very impressed with. The only downside is they don't have margaritas but that's ok they have a good selection of beer. Service was fast and friendly. Keep up the good work. read more

They are always very busy and multi-tasking, but they get it all done and provide very good service. Quaint Mexican joint in Bigfork. Its easy to miss because it's in a small strip mall. First off, attentive customer service and the best salsa. Customers were calling in just to order their chips, salsa and guac. Its that good. Pricewise, it's spendy. I can't really doc them for this though because it's consistent with other Mexican places in the greater Kalispell area. (But what gives?) Tastewise, it's solid, "authentic," Mexican. Great ingredients and healthy portion. Not as spicy as I like, but for the general Montana palate it's probably perfect. Not a lot of flavor layers though, and this is why I gave it only 4 stars. It just didn't have that wow factor. Rice and beans were bland, particularly the beans. My husband's fajitas were in a red sauce that wasn't really flavorful (but did have an interesting smokiness, probably smoked paprika....). Chicken and beef were really tender, but again not a lot of flavor. We also tried their Coctel de Camarones which was really fresh but again lacking in flavor. The shrimp were bland, probably farm-raised. They were out of Mole. My favorites were the salsa of course and the Chile Relleno. Enchilada, Taco and Fajitas were solid, but not outta this world like the Mexican in Cali. We'll come back I'm sure and try a few more things. read more

A great little hidden family-run Mexican restaurant located in a strip mall outside Bigfork. The complimentary chips with salsa tasted so fresh and was delicious with a good bite to it (server ended us bringing us multiple refills!!!) we also ordered the queso as an app. It wasn't the traditional queso but was a blend of cheese melted over their red sauce. We loved how stringy and hot it was. The place was hopping with seated guests and takeout orders and classic Mexican music playing in the background. We were seated promptly and server quickly took out drink orders. They have soda, ice tea and a beer/wine license. Several other tables were enjoying different Mexican beers. Some of the things we ordered were the green enchiladas, Taco Mexican Burrito and chicken fajitas. All the plates came out hot with very large portions. We all totally enjoyed our selections. The shredded beef in the burrito was very flavorful. I find it hard sometime to get good shredded beef but this a great and tender. We all ate until we were stuffed! Our family has been coming to Bigfork for decades so I wish we had tried this place sooner. Great for families and kids with a big menu that I forgot to get a picture of. We highly recommend and will be back. Don't let the size or location throw you off! read more
