Well hello, Split Rock--you had us at first bite! We finally stopped in for lunch and honestly... where has this place been hiding?! The burger was outrageous--in the best way. Juicy, flavorful, stacked high with all the right stuff. I should've asked them to cut it in half, but noooo... I tried to be a hero and now my diet is somewhere crying in the corner. And don't even get me started on the coleslaw--fresh, light, and actually delicious. A rare combo that made me feel like maybe I wasn't completely misbehaving. The place is cute, clean, and cozy, and the service? Top notch. Like, "we actually care you're here" kind of energy. Brought my wife and daughter to Split Rock for dinner Wednesday night. I was disappointed that they didn't have any ribeye. Odd that they would be out when it was barely 5:00. I'll call next time. I really wanted to try it out. I ended up ordering Salmon and the presentation was beautiful but I thought it was a bit dry. The place has been remodeled beautifully! 5 stars for how nice it looks inside! The appetizers were delicious! The owner was in his game serving and greeting everyone! Really a great little spot! First time here. I'm not a big salmon guy anyway and I'm sure if they had not been out of ribeye so early I would have given them a 5 star review. I'll be back again for sure. I sure would like to know how this place has four stars. We had two steak dinners. Server was friendly, so I will mention that. But the steaks were literally the worst quality, overcooked and chewy meat we've ever been served. Low quality meat. Potatoes were super small and undercooked. I'm sorry, but this was not worth $75! I don't understand how this place stays in business. This is our second time here..we gave it a shot. We will NOT be back! Do yourself a favor...pick up steaks at the chopp shop in Whitefish and cook them at home. read more

HORRIBLE SERVICE We had family in town over the weekend who were treated so poorly. They ended up having to leave after waiting an hour and 10 minutes and still not receiving any food. When they wanted to leave due to dissatisfaction with the poor service, they were told you can't leave because we've started to prepare your food, however, when they looked at the Grill behind the counter, all they saw on the grill was French toast wasn't even their order so they lied when they said they were making their food. Not being local we were looking for a good restaurant for supper. We walked in right behind a large family and patiently waited to either put our name in or be seated. After 20 minutes we (nor the party that came in before) us were acknowledged. They had empty tables but I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt that they were short staffed. The host was busing tables and refilling drinks. The bar was open but the counter hadn't been cleared from previous patrons. It's always a good sign when a restaurant is busy. There was a small wait getting our order but the food was worth every second!! I had the chicken fried steak, it was cooked perfectly with amazing mushroom gravy, the asparagus was just the right amount of crisp and the beef and vegetable soup was probably the best I have ever eaten in my life. Food was delicious and portions were great. Wife had the bacon Gouda burger and ended up bringing half back home. Came on Sunday and I had the Montana omelette which had easily 6oz of tender steak with peppers and cheese. The hash browns were delicious too. I give specific reviews that focus on a restaurant's plant based healthy options. I was in a large group at noontime on a busy Sunday. The waiter was fairly preoccupied with the workload, and appeared stressed. All others in my party seemed satisfied with their food orders, and they all had meals that included animal products. So... plant based options are basically non-existent. This menu was the worst I've seen for plant based options. I asked the waiter if they could make a veggie wrap (which would mean taking the wrap on the menu and leaving out the meat) and he quickly and tersely replied, "NO". So I had a few of my daughters French Fries (average) and I had a house salad which wasn't actually listed on the menu. The salad was good. Im sorry to say that if you are like me and are looking for vegan options, don't come to Split Rock. There are better, more flexible options in Bigfork. read more

we just want to say the folks here are the best. we stopped in for an early dinner and then got called home for an emergency just after we had ordered. "Home" being up near the border so it's not a fast drive. we asked for our dinner to go and they were so very helpful. And on top of it all, the food was GREAT! We arrived at 10:30 to have brunch. seated right away in the middle of the restaurant. served water and OJ and ordered food within 5 minutes. Our waitress seemed experienced, was very nice. After about 15 minutes my wife had noticed people being served who came in after us. we waited another 10 minutes, had waters filled for the third time and saw two groups next to us who came in 20 minutes after us get their food. We were sitting in the middle of the room with no food--???how long was this waitress going to ignore us/ let us sit there with no food??? Finally we asked the buss girl (impossible to get our waitresses attention) what was going on (it was now 11:10)---40 minutes! Others around us were getting their food in 10 minutes or less!! Finally our waitress came over and asked us what we had ordered--it was obvious she forgot to put in our order--she gave us some lame excuse somehow blaming the kitchen but never once apologized---instead she thought taking $3 each off of our bill made up for her mistake---I would have appreciated a sincere apology ("I'm sorry") much more than a lousy $6. Everyone makes mistakes, just apologize and move on. My breakfast bowl was very salty. My wifes 2 eggs and bacon was fine. we will not be back! read more

Nice place, with ample seating and conveniently located. Parking is easy to get on the street. The server was not so attentive to our orders and kind of messed up the order. We had specifically asked, and checked twice if it was possible to get a wheat toast instead of muffin for our benedict, and still when the order came in, we didnt get the wheat toast. The service was a little slow and on complaining about the mess up of the order, no apology or acknowledgement was given to us. The restroom is clean and overall food and drinks were good. read more

We actually were never served or got to enjoy anything here. Walked in and it wasn't too busy, probably 5 tables for 2 servers and it was seat yourself. We sat next to a family. We were never greeted, never given menus or waters etc for 20 minutes. We have two kids and so figured it was bad to continue to wait. The family next to us agreed, as they waited 1.5 hours and still hadn't gotten food. I won't be returning. And I'm local. Bummer.
