I placed and paid for an online order that I never got. What did I get- dismissed, completely…read moreinaccurately and unfairly accused of being disrespectful- told I could leave and service would be refused. And another task, after all that- a phone call to my bank to reverse the charges.
I ordered online, received a confirmation with a pickup time. Got an email that said everything I ordered and the price and the paid stamp.
I arrived after the scheduled pickup time. The guy behind the counter was busy chatting with a woman. When he was able to give me his attention, I said I'm just here for a pick up. He threw his hands up and said nope I don't have an order. I
showed the order confirmation/receipt on my phone. He kinda half looked at it. He didn't ask me to scroll or show me more detail. He just repeated nope I don't have an order.
So I had already paid $58.64 for my food and had no other option for supper so I asked if I could contact Steve or if he could and he said nope. Then he says do you have a receipt ? I had just shown him my receipt with the details of the order and that I had paid and the pick up time confirmation and the email that says your order is ready and the date and the time. I said, are you asking to see my bank account ? Yes he says.
I mean, I don't show my bank account to anybody, but if it was going to get me food, I would've done it so I looked down at my phone and I start looking for the app and I quietly say one word - this is the Word that sent him escalating way over the top - "wow". To my shock, he says to me you're being disrespectful and told me he was going to refuse Service and I could leave. I asked him how am I being disrespectful? He said I was giving him attitude. Giving him attitude! I am five times the age of this guy, I do not give people attitude- I order food and pay for it and show up at the right time and I'm responsible for feeding other people. I don't waste my energy, giving people attitude and I certainly don't waste my energy being disrespectful. I know when people are being aggressive with me and this was aggressive.
Then he tells me you should be respectful of the person making your food. OK, I am going to say that it did not take me a New York second to figure out what that meant. I asked him to repeat it though, because I could not believe he was saying that to me and he did. At the same time this is kind of ridiculous because in no way was even planning to make me food.
Again I tried to find out how to contact Steve, but the employee said he didn't know, shrugged, turned his lip up and said "I just work here."
So in summary, I had paid for food, not gotten food, was most certainly disrespected myself, treated aggressively and told to leave , refuse to be able to get any information about follow up and left with nothing.
At zero time, did I ever raise my voice or use poor language. The accusation that I was disrespectful is completely without merit.
So I turned and left and halfway across the floor, he called after you and said that if you showed the receipt he would make your food.
So this is just some kind of game this guy is playing clearly. Apparently, he wanted me to beg him for my food.
My family still had no dinner, which turned what should have been an easy pickup into a stressful evening - still had to go home and create dinner- but late now and people tend to be unhappy when they are hungry.
I would've invited Steve to a conversation rather than writing this entire experience because I definitely have other things to do however, as the employee said he cannot be contacted. So the best I can do is write this out once copy it and share it as appropriate.
The lesson here is if you like poke and you like to get your food and you like to feel like a valued customer rather than being accused of things you do not do and you like to have your dinner when you order it and don't love to have to spend time writing reviews and calling your bank to reverse charges, I suggest you do not go to Steve's. That's my best advice.
