I was given a beeper, which allowed me to wait comfortably nearby in my car. The entrée included shredded beef, white cheese, black beans and fried plantains. It was small, but packed full of moist beef and black beans with plenty of flavor. The included green sauce was a nice complement to the arepa. I found the service from the young lady to be cheerful and helpful. I noticed a small, basic seating area and limited parking nearby. Overall, pretty good.

I ordered 2 tacos - The Fried Gulf Shrimp and The Seared Cheese - $4 each, an order of Elotes Cornbread - $5, Tomato-Brown Butter Rice - $3 and a cup of Tomatillo-Tahini sauce - 25 cents. The Elotes Cornbread was served in a small cast iron skillet with side tortillas. It was less of a corn-bread than a baked corn skillet consisting of sweet corn, garlic mayo, roasted peppers and sour cream with a sprinkling of white cheese on top. Adding a spoonful to a warm tortilla and dipping in the Tomatillo - Tahini was a taste sensation that I could repeat daily. The other masterpiece was the Seared Cheese Taco. A tortilla covered in cheese and pan seared until crispy, then topped with fried eggplant pieces, pickled red chilies, arugula and the aforementioned Tomatilla-Tahini sauce. YES! YES! YES! The al pastor was moist, flavorful, and somewhat spicy with a good portion size (nice!), while the marinated pollo was a little drier (but still good), the grilled tilapia was okay with only a small portion size, and the asada consisted of tiny, over-cooked, dry beef cubes. The other big stumbling block was the 2 asada tacos - probably the driest and least flavorful taco's I've ever had; there wasn't even salt at the table to give it some sort of seasoning. The 2 pastor tacos were adequate and my lone chorizo was the stand-out, yet not any reason to warrant a return. While perusing the market and picking out my beverage I could hear my breakfast sizzling away on the flattop grill. I was a little concerned it would be overcooked since the proprietor was currently handling customers in the market, but I shouldn't have worried. In about ten minutes I had a nicely packaged to-go box of chilaquiles with steak and fried eggs. The chile verde sauce with the chilaquiles is delicious. The meat is well-flavored, but is a tough cut of meat, so I probably wouldn't order the carne again for breakfast. I remember on my previous visit that I had the caldo birria de res - a shredded beef soup with all the toppings - and that we enjoyed the chips and salsa and the very tasty street tacos. The man working there saw that I had been snapping photos of the menu and handed me a paper menu to take with me. He also let me know that there's seating in the back should I return. It looks nicer than the last time I was here, but that was during pandemic times. There's bar-height seating around the grill if you want to dine-in and several booths in the back room. A lot of the menu looks tasty and I really want to return for the mole enchiladas. The prices have gone up, so look for the most recent menu pics. I'll make sure to add this one to my list as a keeper. And I'm always on the hunt for a good Mexican breakfast and I think this could be the place.

Pastor was chunked large and plenty of juicy pineapple, although the pork was a bit on the dry side but still flavorful. The beef was extremely tender and juicy.
