Tacoma Java is one of the few coffee shops that I have not tried in town...coffee shops you sit down in that is. There is still loads of drive up one's all over I haven't tries. And while I have no issue with those I do love to get out of the car and just sit. Absorb myself in my coffee and if Steve isn't with me my phone and perhaps a pastry. I got their Toasted Toffee Nut coffee drink...in hot form. It totally hit the spot. The coffee and toffee blended together nicely and was perfect for a little pick me up as I was strolling around 6th Ave. I got a slice of Banana Nut Bread. Not bad, it wasn't bad at all. I have come across better and obsess over...not quite there with this one though. There were small gifts you could also purchase that you could get here too. Thinks like jewelry and they have some swag with their logo on it as well. Nice stop and worth seeking out again for sure! read more

Nice little coffee shop. Decor includes rustic used tufted plearher chairs and an old stadium fold down row of seats along with living edge tables. Id say the place could accommodate 12 people hanging around before feeling too crowded. They have a good coffee menu and some teas. Their matcha and chai tea lattes are from premade powders of syrups, so know those are not fresh, they're sweet! Because of that, I just opened for an Americano with oat milk (no extra cost for alt milk). This was served piping hot. The Americano was excellent, smooth and silky. My husband got a latte and I think he enjoyed it. They also serve some pastries, breakfast sandwiches, and vegan and gluten free food options. They also allows dogs so extra points (this is ok as they don't do cooking, the food listed above is premade). Pieces are a little high but the quality was very good. read more

This coffee shop is so cozy! We wanted to find a coffee shop to go get a drink and just relax. They have lots of seating options here so this is definitely a great place to come and relax. They have lots of drink options! We decided to try the white caramel bliss, iced. This was an espresso with white chocolate and caramel. The flavor was perfect! Not super sweet but sweet enough that it hit right. I will say that I feel like the prices for their drinks are a little high, we paid almost $10 for one 24oz drink. I had been driving out of my way (the Bonney Lake location is not convenient for most commuters & I live/work here) to visit in the mornings. However when my work schedule shifted to 30 minutes earlier, I would go at 6:30am and almost every morning they weren't open yet (hours are 6:30). I went today after going to other stands that were more convenient - and honestly a drive-up is so much better in the cold. However, the owner changed the shape of their punches and doesn't honor their punch cards any longer. I had one full & another 3/4 full that are just garbage now. Honestly a free drink every 10 visits isn't a deal breaker so much as the lack of consistent opening & inconvenient location. Put them all together and it's going to be a pass from me now. read more

Was drawn in by the outside photos of these bagels. I've never been here. Looked like they were made in house and fresh. Turns out they are little flat frozen gmo bagels that are premade and heated in a microwave. Very expensive. The Smoothie sign is misleading too, I thought I could get a healthy green smoothie for breakfast too. :( read more

I tried looking for Tacoma Java in Bonney Lake thinking the establishment had its own segment. I guess this is for both Tacoma & Bonney Lake locations based on previous reviews. I stopped by Tacoma Java because 1) I always see this establishment every time I drive by to go home 2) The place offers coffee and food, which I wanted to get for my husband for his lunch 3) It's conveniently located right next to the auto licensing place, which I stopped by first. The barista is very friendly and outgoing. I ordered the classic Americano with whipped cream, warm bacon & egg bagel, and picked out a huge Cougar Mt brand chocolate cookie. My husband thought the coffee tasted delish! I like the establishment for they sell locally made items, such as clothes and soap bars. The only thing I didn't have time to check out is the library? I believe there's a library because there's a sign for it. Perhaps, I can check out next time! read more

The macchiato I ordered was just a latte. I don't think they understood what a traditional macchiato was actually. The bagel sandwich was pretty lame too, appeared to be just microwaved or something. I cannot speak to the smoothies. BUT, there is more: The reason I cannot be too hard on these guys is because they are a rare business that does sell food in the morning other than sweets AND they open at 6 am! Yes- 6 am! We need more early morning coffee places, this fact alone is a reason you might want to visit tacoma java :) read more

Overpriced drinks in my opinion. My last visit at Tacoma Java was met with rowdy staff that weren't interested in actually listening to my order - but rather gossiping behind the counter. I do appreciate their BOGO deals and punch cards. read more

I needed a quick caffeine jolt for the drive back home to Bothell during rush hour. I found this coffee stand near the hospital I was at, swung in and was greeted by a cheerful young lady who was quick to get a drink started. I figured I needed a sugar rush too, I asked what they might have and I was enticed by a homemade chocolate chip cookie of fair portion! It was warmed and served along with the awesome latte; that was enough of a infusion of caffeine and sugar to get me home safe and sound. Thanks Tacoma Java! Don't know how to make coffee. And on top of that I paid 6.10$ for 16oz--I order hot latter with caramel that is mean 2/3 steamed milk which mean foam I didn't get any foam on my coffee at all felt like milk wasn't steam properly and hot milk. Stopped in for an afternoon pick me up this past Saturday and had the most amazing iced mocha! It had just the right balance- not too sweet, still tasted like coffee. The pastries they carry are quite good, especially the massive cinnamon roll with icing. I would add that the staff were super friendly, too. I'll definitely be going back. read more

Whenever I come here for my red bulls, they're always so friendly and super helpful especially since I'm sort of a picky person when it comes to my drinks. They have plant based energy drinks now and honestly they're really good and I feel like it gives me more energy than a SF redbull. The ingredients are still a little eh in the plant based one but the service here is always great. The breakfast sandwiches are usually heated up and are warm when received but for me personally, I'm just not a fan of their breakfast food. read more

Came to town visiting and stopped in for morning coffee. Sat outside on cute table setting. Such a sweet shop with beautiful furniture and lots of games. Ambiance outstanding. Went to the shop for the first time and didn't have my wallet on me because I was expecting to pay with Apple Pay. The stand however doesn't take Apple Pay and the girl working the stand paid for my drink and made it without a second thought. I drove over to Tacoma Java during my break and ordered one hot coffee and two iced coffees. The barista gave me a drink tray with three hot coffees. I mentioned to her that I had said iced for two of the drinks and she told me I was wrong, and I had said I wanted them hot. I don't drink hot coffee, so I know I didn't say that. I explained that she more than likely heard "hot" from the first drink and assumed the others were the same. She even stated that her co-worker overheard me say "hot" for all three drinks, which is completely false. She ended up saying she would remake them, but again made it clear that I was wrong and appeared to be irritated and gave an attitude, which I had never experienced at a coffee stand before. Normally if there's a miscommunication, baristas are more than happy to fix it and not give attitude and be argumentative with their customers. I wasn't trying to get free drinks or anything, I simply wanted what I was paying for and wasn't expecting any issues. Very poor customer service. read more

I went here with a few of my friends not to long ago, it was good one of there red bulls.. I believe it was the sunrise red bull? It tasted like passion fruit that's really it. The dining in there is pretty nice and I love how it fills the space, which me and my friends had a blast. The service was nice it was pretty quick. I would recommend! I really like this drive thru. It's convenient for me. I also like the ladies who work here. I don't know all their names but the long haired brunette and the shorter haired blonde with bright nails are my favorites. They are always pleasant. This coffee stand has the most efficient team on the north side of Tacoma. There is no better drive up stand. Their crack team of baristas are all super friendly and remembered our names and drinks after one visit. My wife and I love this place. Excellent coffee, knowledgable baristas, and perfect location. If we were to pray to the coffee gods to give the Stadium District a better coffee stand they would just give us another Tacoma Java. read more
