    2 tacos plate - 1 asada and 1 adoba

YUM! So very tasty and filling. Some of the best homemade refried beans I've ever had. We both had 2 tacos - 1 asada and 1 adoba and they were very different and flavorful. The show stopper was the homemade salsa served with chips - fantastic!! Well worth the stop!

Who woulda thought great Mexican in this little town? Get there before noon, the place gets packed. Had the Chile Relleno platter: 2 huge chiles, rice, great beans, and 5 tortillas for $11. What a bargain! The chiles were packed with cheese, and the sauce was great. Pretty tiny, not much seating, needs a coat of paint. Don't go for the ambience, but do stop for the food.

Yes, open for an early breakfast! We arrived at 8:30am after enjoying the Wildlife Refuge. Don't let the faded signage and lack of posted hours fool you. It felt like the women of the house were making me breakfast. We had Huevos Rancheros, Huevos a la Mexicana (fresh & amazingly tasty), good strong coffee and pozole (on the house!). We've had many mediocre meals in our small town touring in northern CA and southern OR. This was one of the best meals by far. Super friendly owners / employees too.

This place is good but they have weird pricing. Some things are way too expensive like the chile rellenos $12 for 1 $13 for the platter which also includes 1 chile relleno another one will cost you another $12

Stopped for a breakfast burrito, it was as it should be- beans, rice, chorizo, eggs, salsa. Really good.

Tacos de asada were the bomb. Tortillas made by hand, horchata was delicious. Great food, great service.

Great burritos and tacos. They were out of green sauce (verde), but the red sauce was maybe the best Ive had. Good stuff

Tried two other places in downtown Shasta but both were packed and we did not want to wait - glad we did not! La Perla is adjacent to a bar and has an old school vibe. The decor is diner-esque but interesting. They offer self-serve chips, salsa and soft drinks (the latter for a price). Food portions are generous and very tasty, we all loved our food. My partner had a jalapeño margarita which was extraordinary. Cherry on top was our amazing server - she was extremely nice, prompt and accommodating. A pleasure all around. Highly recommended!

We wanted to make reservations for dinner on a Thursday but no one answered the phone. We decided to head over to the restaurant a few minutes before we planned to dine with friends only to discover they weren't open and a hand lettered writing on the door said they were closed Thursdays and Sundays. We did return the next evening, now knowing that they would be open on Friday. The restaurant shares an entryway with a popular bar. It was amusing watching people enter the main door and then turn one way or the other to enter a business, only to realize they want the other door. I saw a few families with little kids start towards the bar and then turn to the restaurant. Groups in motorcycle jackets did the reverse. A signboard at the entrance to the restaurant invites customers to choose a table and then help themselves to chips and salsa. My husband and I split an entrée and it was more then enough for the both of us. Portion sizes are generous. The food was very good. Much better than Casa Ramos or Puerto Vallarta. If you want Mexican food in Mount Shasta, stay away from those chains and go to La Perla for a much better meal at reasonable prices to boot. We enjoyed the background music, with songs from the likes of Fleetwood Mac, Paul Simon, The Proclaimers.
