I walked in an hour before close last week, they were very nice and friendly. There was only one guy in the kitchen (which I thought was weird for a weekend evening). The other guy was working the cash register and taking orders. When I got my food I was very excited since I've heard great things about this place. The tacos look good but they were a solid 4/10, the carne was old! It tasted like when you get a carne asada burrito from Filiberto's at 3am. The tortillas were sweet, they tasted like MISSION tortillas . I will say the salsitas and toppings were excellent. As a Mexican from Hermosillo, I know what good tacos are. These are overpriced and underwhelming. If you're in North Phoenix I recommend Pinches Tacos. The tacos are definitely smaller but they're always good. This is a solid place for good street tacos, and they have multiple locations across the valley. Their prices are a little steep ($3 for a small taco), but their service is good. The quality can be a little inconsistent. Sometimes the meat is tender and very well seasoned, and other times it's dry and slightly bland. When it's well seasoned, it's incredible! My favorite part about this place though is their salsa bar. A lot of taco shops only give you the option to get a pre-mixed batch of onion and cilantro, which is often very light on the cilantro. Love that this place gives you the option to top your tacos with cilantro and onion separately so you can create your perfect ratio. Their avocado salsa is also like a more whipped version of guacamole, and it's delicious. The restaurant is large and can easily accommodate bigger groups. Note that a 2.8% fee is added to your bill when paying with a credit card. Bring cash if you can! Also, there are no Taco Tuesday deals at this location as of the time of this review. read more

Couldn't go to Arizona without visiting my favorite taco chain. Busy day with family activities meant that I couldn't make it in until an hour before close. This had me worried that the food wouldn't be as fresh or tasty especially the chips/guacamole and salsa bar. I was wrong! My carne asade tacos, chips, guacamole, and the salsas and other toppings I got off the salad bar were all absolutely incredible, and still fresh even after 15-20 min drive to the hotel before eating. So good that we came here twice on our trip! The first time we visited in store, and had some delicious tacos with all the toppings. Loved that this place was no frills, just authenticity and deliciousness. We ordered again for takeout a couple days later and it was great. We tried the steak (best option), beef cheek (also very good), the chicken (solid), and cactus, which was fine but I'm not a cactus person. Nice dining room, you order at the counter and they call your number, you bus your own table. Food was delicious altho the menu is very limited. They showed coke zero on their menu but only had diet coke, yuck. Prices are reasonable except i have a couple complaints. They charge you an additional 2.5% if you use a credit card. Just figure it out and average it into your pricing, like 99.9% of all other restaurants. We paid 3.99 before the aforementioned credit card fee for chips and guacamole, but that was really just to get the smallest paper bag of chips and a plastic container to get it off of their salsa bar. Thought that was pretty expensive. Portion size for nachos was very small, it fits into one of those small take out containers, not what you get when you order nachos at most Mexican restaurants. There is a "salsa bar" but I felt it fell short of what I was expecting. I like to load my tacos with fresh veggies, a chunky salsa, pico de gallo. There were a few salsa options but they were all very blended, some onions, onions mixed with cilantro, and guacamole. Not much else. There wasn't even any sour cream. Overall we felt it was okay, but not what we were expecting. The building is pretty large and almost a warehouse feel, not an intimate dining spot by any means. More like a cafeteria. I had 3 tacos, 2 carne asada and 1 chicken. Both of them were amazing. They come plain and you add the toppings from the salsa bar. The meat was well seasoned and the tortillas were perfectly grilled. I also had the mulata, which is basically a quesadilla with meat. I had carne asada for this as well. Absolutely delicious, but a little on the greasy side. Would have liked more cheese. My boyfriend had the quesadilla with pork and said it was delicious but also a bit on the greasy side.
